A really good read, lots of tension and very gripping. Looking forward to reading more from the author.

Now THIS is what you call a page turner.. wow, just wow.

Now first up, I hadn't read the previous installments in the DCI Banham series (this is book no#5) but it didn't effect the read at all.

This was a brilliantly fast paced thriller with characters that are well executed but definitely 'marmite' characters that you'll either love or hate.

I've got to say loved the gritty feel of the whole setting and storyline.

The plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested and constantly turning the pages and plenty of suspects to keep you guessing.

My only downside was that the ending felt rather rushed

This is the 5th book in the DI Banham series, but I don't think that matters. You do not need to have read the other books to understand the storyline or the plot. It is completely a story on its own.

This is a book that I devoured quicker than I expected. It pulled me in from the very beginning and was completely gripping.

Regan had me hooked quickly and I found myself unwilling to put this down. I have loved the darker side of this book.

This is well paced and has kept me guessing from the beginning. I have devoured page after page craving more information.

This is a great read and one that I definitely recommend to others. This is a book that has introduced me to a new author and has been one That has made me want to read more by this author. I will definitely be revisiting this author.

The Burning Question is enthralling and addictive. It’s a book that should be added to the TBR.

A fast moving enjoyable thriller, some characters are a bit overdone but overall a good read.

Although this is book 5 in the series featuring detectives Banham and Grainger, it can easily be read as a stand alone. It's a good steady read with excellent characterisation and a steady pace throughout. There are plenty of twists and turns and the plot kept me interested. The end felt just a little bit rushed but overall, a good addition to the crime fiction genre. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

An arson attack on a block of flats leaves three dead. It quickly becomes apparent that the ground floor resident, Danielle Low, is the intended victim and the team must establish why she became a victim. A second attack and death link the two victims and the secrets they were keeping.

I have not read this series before, so I went in with no preconceptions. The Burning Question works well as a stand-alone, meaning I had no issues starting mid series. I also liked the premise, arson with no idea of who or why and an investigation to establish that is right up my street.

The execution of the novel was not what I expected. There are plenty of twists and turns and where the investigation leads is certainly seedy, but the novel lacks the hard edge the subject matter cries out for, so it’s almost cosy in the way it’s presented. Once I got over the improbability of Grainger reporting to Banham when they live together, which is wrong on so many levels, I settled in for what promised to be a good read, but it’s just so-so. The novel is cluttered with interpersonal interactions, most of which are not germane to the investigation and minimise any potential tension, never mind being inappropriate in a work place. I gradually lost interest in the murder enquiry and the novel in general with all this chatter and I don’t think it helps the concentration that the point of view constantly switches between the various detectives. The novel does have a strong finish with all the loose ends tied up. It will be up to each individual reader to decide how likely it is.

The Burning Question is not my style of reading material but I am sure it will appeal to readers who like a lighter touch.

I really like the cover. I enjoyed this book's setting. The story was only so-so, and it was rather rushed at the ending. I'm also not sure how I felt about the characters. I didn't quite connect with any of the main characters. It was overall an average read and story.

I will read more from this author to check out her other books.

I give this book a 3.5/5. I enjoyed that it kept that feeling of so many great modern British detective shows. It has a gritty vibe that I enjoy in my thriller books. The fast pace also kept me engaged with the mystery. If I had one complaint, it would be that the end felt very rushed and a bit garbled.

Just finished this one and still not convinced if I enjoyed it or not.
The story-line was fine, although some aspects I felt were unnecessary, although perhaps they might well be relevant to other books if they flow in something of a series format, as this was the first time I had read one of this authors books..
I also found the finale rather flat, while one or two of the actual characters left a bit to be desired.
Will I read more by the author? Possibly.

Good book! Great storyline! This book was very interesting! It had suspense, intrigue, murder and mystery! And a great who done it! It had a bit of romance too! I will definitely recommend reading this book! It was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
