Thanks to Henry Holt & Company, I was provided an ARC of Smells Like Tween Spirit via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

*****Coming out August 2, 2022*****

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Laurie Gelman keeps it real with her latest book, Smells Like Tween Spirit. Her sense of humor and whit will keep you entertained! If you have ever raised a middle schooler, especially in sports, this book will resonate with you!

Jen Dixon has always been involved with her kid’s PTO and class mom roles. She is known for being snarky with her emails to the parents. She has two adult daughters, a granddaughter, aging parents, and a 7th grade boy. Jen leads a busy life balancing all the responsibilities that comes with it.

Jen’s son is now in middle school and she no longer has a lead role at school. She fills her time with teaching spin classes, taking care of her family and being actively involved with her son’s wrestling team. Jen is navigating a new social scene, wrestling moms. Jen will have to figure it out, while she maintains her sanity. Will her sense of humor keep her going?

I love how Laurie Gelman accurately writes about life’s issues with the right amount of humor and drama mixed in. Even though this book is a part of a series, this book can be read as a stand alone. One to add to your Sumner TBR list!

I love Laurie Gelman's books, and this latest installment was a great read. Her light humor helped her address some very real and emotional aspects of growing up and growing older as a middle-aged mom. Her writing is easy and bright. I've loved this entire series!

Disclosure: I received a free copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. What follows is my honest opinion.

Laurie Gelman has done it again. In her fourth installment of the Class Mom series, Jen Dixon is back in the saddle of suburban motherhood drama; this time as a wrestling mom. Her now tween son Max has joined the school wrestling team and that means Jen is now a " Mat Mom". Just when Jen thought her days as a class mom were behind her, she yet again finds herself knee-deep in school duties. Filled with the sarcastic humor readers of the previous installments have grown to love, Smells Like Tween Spirit is the perfect follow-up to Yoga Pant Nation. The story picks up two years after we last saw Jen and the rest of her family and we find her facing the usual school issues as well as the uncertainties of having rapidly aging parents. Laurie Gelman has created a family that I have grown to love over her past three books and this fourth installment is everything a reader of her books could wish for.

Thank you to Netgalley and Henry Holt & Co for letting me read and review this ARC!

I'm a big fan of the Class Mom series and when I saw that there was another installment I was excited and this one did not disappoint..

Smells Like Tween Spirit takes us along with the Dixons as Jen and Ron navigate Max being in middle school and joining the wrestling team among all the other struggles life throws at them as well.

I love this series for many reasons, but mainly, I love that we get to see so many levels of real life with the Dixon family. We don't just see the good, but we go through all the rough times with them too. The characters are lovable and the writing is so engaging that I felt emotional for every hard and happy moment they experienced. I also continue to laugh out loud throughout each of these books, Jen Dixon is such a witty character and she has some hilarious thoughts and encounters.

It has also been great to follow the growth of the Dixon family throughout this series. Specifically, this book gives us so much personal growth within each character and it made me fall in love with them even more.

I really hope we get another installment in this series - because I'd love to see Max in high school and how Jen handles that one because I'm sure it will be hilarious!

Absolutely hysterical! What's even better is that this is humor with actual content. The characterization is great and at the heart of these books is a genuine family with its ups and downs.
