I really enjoy Paige's stories. I especially like that we get to see a bit of the villains perspective. They are clearly warped, but it is interesting to see. I love Harry and Elise together! Also Sammy is absolutely delightful and I hope we see more of him in future books!

Facing the Enemy" is action packed from chapter one!

The characters in this story, Harry, Sammy and Elise won me over!

Harry and Elise were college sweethearts until Elise called their relationship quits! Fast forward nine years to when Harry is hired on with MI6 and is trained by Elise Taylor.

Nigel Thatcher, their boss, has other plans for both Harry and Elise.

Harry is assigned a new mission in Scotland. Elise is from Scotland. Elise took an option of extending her medical leave to heal and regain the skills she needs to be an operative. Harry is in need of a nanny for Sammy. Who better than Elise who has no domestc skills whatsoever! Sammy is an energetic eight year old boy! He doesn't want a nanny and certain he doesn't need one! Elise and Sammy's relationship builds when Anders Gilmont is on the hunt for Elise. Elise's will do whatever it takes to protect Sammy! Harry will do everything he can to find them!

I just finished reading "Facing the Enemy" for the second time! Thank you Paige Edwards for writing such an amazing story!

A book with a lots of “almosts”. Lots of action with a ‘Zorro’ kind of hero in feminine form. Straddling the line between aristocratic and bad@$$, is an excellent character. The action is good, but I wish the relationships had been stronger.

This was a good book. I'm glad we finally got Elise's story and the plot line was interesting. The writing was choppy in places which was a little distracting, but overall I liked it.

I really enjoyed this book. The suspense has me at the edge of my seat. I loved the friendship and romance between Elise and Harry. Sammy is a handful. Overall a great read.

4.5 stars! I loved it! It was just what I needed. I usually read the description of books before I read them, but I trusted the author and forgot that step. What a fun surprise! I was expecting from the cover some type of historical fiction, but instead it was a modern day suspense set in Scotland. Elise and Harry were once in a relationship, but broke up when Lady Elise’s family disapproved of her choice. Years later they served as MI6 partners and had to lean to keep their feelings buried. When Elise’s world is turned upside down, due to an injury and dismal prognosis, she returns home to recover and train. When Harry is sent to the same area on assignment and needs someone to watch his son, Elise offers the use of her family’s staff. As the relationship rekindles, Elise must face her fears of the future and the possibility of a relationship with Harry. Life is thrown for a loop when a bitter criminal seeks revenge on Elise for her part in his arrest.

I liked the timeline the author used to forge a meaningful and believable relationship. There’s lots of swoony sweet moments any romance reader will love. Such a delightful read!

I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys clean romance suspense. Content warning: infertility

Facing the enemy is a fun quick read full of secret agents, Scottish highlands, survival all wrapped up in a second chance romance.

What I loved about the book was the Scottish setting and the romance between 2 agents who are both dealing with some fairly difficult personal issues. They complimented each other well.

I wanted more romance in the story! I was necessary dazzled by having the villains point of view and feel like I could have done without his chapters and have his arc explained another way. It took too much away from the characters I loved. All in all a sweet quick read fans of clean historical romance will all enjoy.

This is my first time reading book by Paige Edwards and I wasn’t disappointed. I admit that the cover of this book immediately drew me in and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. But this book has it all — romance, suspense, intrigue and relatable characters dealing with real life issues.

Lady Elise is such a strong, kick-butt heroine. I love how she straddles the line of capable M16 agent and proper debutante. She’s both fierce and feminine. I really felt for her and the results of her accident broke my heart. I loved her with Harry, but it was her protectiveness and care of Sammy that really made me love her character. Her recovery also forces her to really connect with her family and take responsibility for her past actions.

Harry’s determination to win back Elise and care for his son was admirable. His new assignment really forces him to evaluate what is most important in life — family. Both he and Elise realize the mistakes they made in the past and want to overcome them, but it’s really Harry’s persistent efforts that make these two work as a couple.

Edwards did a really good job of balancing a suspenseful story with real life issues. I loved the POV of our villain. It really built up the suspense and tension. He was truly diabolical, but delusional; you really didn’t know what he was going to do next. The build up really made for a fast paced and exciting ending.

CW/TW: kissing only, mild violence, infertility issues

Possible spoilers ahead:

I only gave this four stars because I wanted to see Elise and Harry falling in love. They’re already in love with each because of a relationship they had a long time ago and we’re really only told this. I would have loved some flashbacks to their past relationship — how and why they fell in love with each other and what happened when things fell apart.

Bravo, Ms. Edwards! This first book in the Roxbury Heirs sets the bar quite high for the rest of the series. It is fast paced, action packed, and pulse racing from the first to the last page. Harry Benson has his hands full. Not only is there an evil maniac after his former love interest, MI6 agent Elise Taylor, but there are also stolen arms being shipped overseas that he must stop.

Elise Taylor has what it takes to be an MI6 operative: guts, determination, cunning intelligence, and a passion to see justice served. I admired her because she never quit, even when she was injured and had to flee with Harry’s rascally son into the woods of Scotland. Having Elise and Harry team up had me turning pages and sitting on the edge of my seat.

The special weapon that Harry got to use reminded me of the gadgets that James Bond has in his arsenal when he went on missions. There was such a great scene that had me cheering as Harry uses everything he has to fight against evil. ( No spoilers, but I will say that you will love reading it.)

I highly recommend this book if you like clean romantic suspense. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for providing the digital ARC. A positive review was not required.

I really enjoyed Facing the Enemy! It was well-paced and intriguing, and moved along at a great pace to keep me reading. While the beginning and end focus on their MI6 jobs, the middle focuses on relationships.

I loved the main characters, Harry and Elise. They were interesting and flawed, and very likeable. The only complaint I have with characters is that the minor characters (family and friends) were somewhat of a distraction to the main story. Whenever they were introduced, the story got a little muddled and lost a little momentum.

My favorite things were the setting, the flirting, and the interactions with Harry's son Sammy, who is a sweet little rascal! I would have loved a few more descriptions of the castle and surrounding areas. It's such a beautiful place! The flirting was so fun, to see them try to break down each other's defenses. And little Sammy has my heart, although the mom in me wanted to reign in his mischievous schemes!!

I would recommend this to anyone who loves intrigue and romance.

Thank you to Paige Edwards, NetGalley, and Covenant Communications for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

"Facing the Enemy" is a romantic suspense. Elise has been more interested in making a difference through her job than in marriage and children. Repeated injuries mean she'll no longer be able to do the job or have children. She's attracted to Harry, who admires her abilities and confidence, but he has one son already and surely will want more. Besides, would she even be a good mother? When Harry asks her to care for his son while he's working undercover nearby, his child gets into all sorts of trouble. It gets even worse when a bad guy comes after her to take revenge.

First, the son was old enough that he ought to have understood the reality of "danger" and have some idea about what could get him hurt. But he didn't, and it was more than just a boy being adventurous. Near the end, he even left hiding to wander off after Elise warned him about the danger and the need to hide until she came back. But he got bored after a few minutes. He also didn't seem to understand that the bad guys weren't playing a game. I couldn't decide if the author was pushing his behavior to create suspenseful situations or if he had metal issues that Harry simply didn't acknowledge.

Anyway, Harry had a mystery to solve, and they all got into plenty of dangerous situations. Harry's and Elise's feelings for each other grew as they worked together. Elise had some character growth in addition to just trying to survive. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense novel.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It started out like a Jason Bourne movie with a chase over the rooftops in a foreign land. I felt the characters were developed well. They felt real and I liked them. Elise has an interesting family and I look forward to learning more about them. Sammy was a stitch and I loved Harry and his devotion to Elise.

I felt like there could have been a bit more about the villain’s new venture. His network of students was quite impressive.

Thank you to Covenant Communications for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars. Paige Edwards really knows how to write a good suspense! The beginning of the book caught me and I enjoyed the storyline. I loved that the two main characters are brought together for a second chance romance and we learn about the different obstacles they are facing. I loved seeing them help each other and the banter was great. The ending was very exciting and kept me on my toes. I did feel like it was a bit choppy at times and the middle slowed down a little but overall the story was great! Also I love the cover but I don't think it's a great match for the story.

This was a sweet spy story featuring Lady Elise and Henry Benson, who both work for MI6. She trained him years ago and when their paths cross again, an enemy from her past also emerges threatening those around her in an attempt for revenge.

The heroine is a strong, capable woman who will protect those around her at any cost. There's some witty banter as sparks begin to fly between the two of them and a suspenseful ending!

I was invested in this mystery. I honestly thought the storyline was placed in the past because that was the vibe the cover gave me. I love the cover regardless of that. But due to that, I was confused for a bit at the beginning but once I got a handle I was invested in Sammy, Harry, and Elise's story. I usually don't like kids in stories but I have to say Sammy was written accurately for his age

This is a second chance romance and Harry is in love and hasn't emotionally moved on from Elise. Elise feels the same however she is going through so many changes she is trying to get a handle on that while falling back in love with Harry but to top it all off a dangerous man is after her and determined to kill her

I followed this story with my breath held, would he get her or would she escape. This story fits the brief of a suspense romance - we see and experience Harry and Elise fall back in love meanwhile a smart killer is stalker her and wants her dead.

Paige Edwards is taking the romantic suspense world by storm & I am here for it! I love that her books have equally balanced suspense & romance plots. It really keeps her books moving at a fast pace!

We have seen snippets of Elise Taylor in the Pressley-Coombes’ series, but in this book you’ll get to know ‘Lady Elise’ a lot more.

The suspense is no joke in this one so buckle up! If you’ve ever had someone chasing you in your dreams & you wake up short of breath, you’ll be getting all of those same feels only you’ll be awake trying to turn the pages as fast as you can to figure out how it’s going to end! Her nemesis is as terrifying as they come & will stop at nothing to silence Elise. With this being a military book, you’re going to see spying, shootings, underground dealings, traitors and blackmailing.

As I said, buckle up my friends!

Harry Benson is a lovable character. His patience & determination mixed with charm is a triple threat! I loved the setting. Scotland is always a favorite of mine & this author’s extensive knowledge of the area will make you feel like you’re there!

I am excited for this new Roxbury Heirs series & can’t wait to see who we read about next!!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Lady Elise Henderson lives two different lives, one is the life of a daughter of the Marquess of Roxbury and the other is the life of a spy. Harry Benson maybe the son of servants, but he loves Elsie. Life once separated them, but now they are once again united.
I absolutely loved the setting, and I loved the main characters. I wish we saw the romance the characters had before the time this book takes place. I also did not enjoy the romance between the main characters which maybe a better look at their past would have helped. I also thought this would be historical fiction based on the cover, but it was not.

If you like romantic suspense, you will love Facing the Enemy. The books starts into danger and suspense in the first few pages. The tension ratchets down as Elise heads to her home in Scotland. Her biggest challenge seems to be trying to keep Sammy out of trouble. The reader is nearly lulled into complacency when the action explodes again and the main characters are fighting for their lives.
Elise and Harry are great main characters. They both have great skills as MI6 agents. As such their emotions take a back seat, and they each make assumptions about the other. It means their love doesn’t come easily.
The setting in Scotland is outstanding. The action ventures into the Tay Forest Park outside Perth. It sounds like a beautiful but challenging place.
The villain is a wily character, filled with grand delusions. As a reader, I couldn’t help but cheer when he is overcome in the end.
I am so excited to be part of a group reading Facing the Enemy prior to release. Pick up Facing the Enemy, I think you’ll love it.

Suspense. Romance. Adventure. All wrapped up in this book! I was never bored with it. Hooked from the beginning. I loved the banter between the characters. Harry and Elise. Oh the things I could say about them but I don’t like spoilers. How is Elise supposed to resist Harry? How?! The characters were well done and I couldn’t help but root for them! I also enjoyed the flow of this story.
I’m so excited that this is the first of the Roxbury series and can’t wait for the rest!

This story will keep you on your toes! It feels like the middle of an action movie, with characters in the midst who may have a happily ever after after- if they can get to it?! The chemistry between the leads is tangible, I wasn't ready for it to end!
