This book was everything I expected it to be. It is the perfect start to Edwards' new series and I cannot wait for more! This tale was thrilling, exciting, and romantic, a must read, cannot put it down type of book.

Elise Taylor lives a double life. A Lady in Scotland and a M16 operative in London. After a car accident that claims the life of her partner, Elise's career could be over. However, she is a survivor and eventually her paths cross with Harry Benson, her college sweetheart. This book is full of suspense, twists, and romance.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more!!

Paige Edwards' latest romantic suspense novel has multiple ties to characters in her other books and follows up on their lives now, but can be read as a standalone. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what twists and turns it will take - and was worth losing sleep over! I enjoyed the sweet romance and connection between Harry and Elise and the dynamics that Harry's son, Sammy, brought to the story added a fun dimension. The multiple character viewpoints for telling the story added depth and intrigue, and the settings rounded out the novel with descriptive beauty.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

This book pulled me in from the beginning! Elise has decisions to make regarding her future career and agrees to help her former MI-6 partner (and former college boyfriend) with childcare for his 8 year old son while she recovers from devastating injuries. This book is filled with suspense, comic interludes, and the simple trust and faith of a rambunctious child. This book is the first in a new series but includes characters from the author's Presley-Coombes series. You don't need to have read those books to read this one, but having done so would enhance the background information.

This book pulls you in from the first page and never lets you go.
Harry is undercover for MI6 trying to locate the source of illegal arms sales so they can be stopped. He knows he’s close but doesn’t realize that the next step in his hunt will take him back to the UK and into Scotland where he will be undercover on a base and be able to spend time with his eight year old son. Upon arriving he finds that his parents who are caring for his son, the mother having given up custody with her divorce, are going to be unable to care for Sammy in the foreseeable future. With no childcare options open to him Harry heads to his assignment with an understanding that Elise, a fellow agent on medical leave, will watch Sammy while Harry works on base. Harry and Elise had met previous to joining MI6 and had started to fall in love but then separated. Now they were forced together to care for Sammy. As Harry chases the arms ring, Elise is unaware that she is being hunted by a man she had helped put in prison. A wonderful and suspenseful mix of an escape artist child, a vast and deep criminal organization, and changes faced by both Harry and Elise that will alter their life plans. A phenomenal read you will not want to put down. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.

This book had me hooked from the first page. I've loved all of the books in this series. This book is filled with plenty of action. One escaped convict, is bound and determined, to make Agent Elise, pay for making him lose his family' and land him in prison. There is plenty of action, twists and turns and romance in this fast paced read. It's worth reading the series all over again.

I really enjoyed Facing the Enemy by author Paige Edwards. This is a wonderful contemporary romantic suspense, second-chance story set in England and Scotland.

Elise Taylor, a top MI6 operative, is recovering from major surgery after an intentional car accident that claimed the life of her partner. Elise's injury has the potential to derail her life as a M16 operative. She leads two separate lives. In Scotland, she’s Lady Elise Henderson, the titled daughter of the Marquess of Roxbury.
Harry Benson, her college love, is now also with M16 and their paths cross again. I love the spy details, the escapes, the covers blown, it's like watching a Mission Impossible movie! Harry's exuberant son Sammy is a handful but a lovable part of the story. Then there's a crazy man escaped from prison put there by Elise and her former partner, who's out to get Elise. Can she in her injured state escape this nutcase with millions at his disposal? You'll have to read it to find out.

Some great lines in the story:
"Did the media get it right?" Elise asked. "Not even a little."
"Would the media ever report the complete truth in the crises waging across the globe?"

"When I take that kiss, you won't need to bribe me."

"His pulse raced, and he couldn't keep the stupid grin off his face. This eighty-second flight blew every single one of his boyhood fantasies to smithereens. Take that, Stan Lee!"

"She had wanted more from life than to nibble on cucumber sandwiches and sip tea in party dresses. She wanted to matter-to make a difference."

"I can reel with the best of them, my wild Scottish thistle. In fact, I doubt you could keep up with me."

"If civilians were given patriotic medals, Mother would be first in line."

"St Michael himself, with a legion of angels at his disposal, couldn't keep the pair of them out of trouble."

"In case you haven't noticed, natural charm is not my strong suit."

I highly recommend Facing the Enemy for fans of contemporary-romance, christian, adult-contemporary, high-society, romantic-suspense, scottish-aristocracy, second-chance-romance, suspense, sweet, wholesome stories!

Thank you to the author and net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

When I started reading the book, I was under the impression that this was a historical suspense romance novel. I was really thrown for a loop when on chapter two, I realized that it was actually contemporary. The cover gave me a different impression for the genre,

But overall, I think the interactions between Elise and Harry were sweet, especially when you add in the cute scenes with little Sammy. I think I would have liked to see the romance they had before he got married to someone else, as that gave me a discomforting stomach ache for him to have chosen someone else after her.

The writing style was beautiful and the story flowed well. Elise was a refreshing, always focused and no-nonsense character. She and Harry made a great pair.

Enjoyed the suspense aspect of Facing the Enemy. It kept me engaged throughout the story. Really loved the chemistry between Elise and Harry and I really wish there was more to their romance in the book.

This is the first book of Paige Edwards that I have read and will definitely continue to lookout for more of her work.
She has a beautiful way of setting the mood and description of the plot. Really got me hooked from the beginning.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review,

FACING THE ENEMY by PAIGE EDWARDS is an exciting romantic thriller which takes place mostly in Scotland.
M16 agent, Harry Benson, back from Lebatu where he has seen first hand the devastation caused by General Nheshai, is sent to the Glenkinnon army base by his boss, Nigel Thatcher, to catch the thief that is supplying Nheshai with British munitions.
Agent Elise Tayler has a long way to go to get fit for action after an accident that killed her partner and left her injured, and is staying at her parents’ castle nearby. She is really Lady Elize Henderson, the daughter of the Marquess of Roxbury. Harry and Elise were romantically involved when they were at university and then worked together as agents.
Harry’s parents have looking after his eight year old son, Sammy, but his father becomes ill, and Harry asks Elise to look after Sammy until he can find a child minder. This is easier said than done as Sammy continually escapes the staff who are meant to be looking after him!
Things become very exciting when Elise’s nemesis, Anders Gilmont, finds out where she is staying……
The story is gripping, the characters are interesting, and the Christian message is good. I recommend Facing the Enemy to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Paige Edwards. Elise had gone through a lot of adversity while being an agent for MI6. Her partner was killed and she has had two major surgeries on her hips that resulted in her being unable to have any children. She had never thought of herself as mother material anyway but having it taken away had her rethinking many of her previous feelings. Harry, a former boyfriend and partner of Elise, still has feelings for her and she for him. But so many obstacles are in their way, many coming from their job with MI6. While Elise is on medical leave she agrees to watch Harry's son, Sammy while Harry is on a job nearby. What they didn't count on was an old nemesis from Elise's past rearing his head and coming after her.
This book is thrilling and kept me on the edge of my seat, especially during the end when it is life or death. I would definitely recommend this book.

Another great book by Paige Edwards. I’m definitely excited to see what’s in store with this series and am already hoping to see characters from this book in future ones. I was hoping to get a book about Agents Taylor and Benson from reading about them and their past in Paige’s Pressley-Coombs series, and this delivered that and more.
I really enjoyed the suspense in this book, especially towards the end; it kept me engaged in the story and unable to put it down. The chemistry between Elise and Harry was good, although I wish there could’ve been a few more romantic moments between them. And sweet, mischievous Sammy was a delight and breath of fresh air, he kept the story light despite some moments of high tension.
The familial relationships in this book were a great addition to the overall story (fingers crossed for books about Elise’s siblings). The character growth was good, but I did struggle a little bit with how Elise’s medical problems were resolved/handled so quickly.
The small things that I didn’t completely love did not take away from my overall feelings about this book.
Paige Edwards beautifully describes the wonder of Scotland and helps you dive right into the setting. She is able to put you in the middle of it all and take you along for a wonderful ride inside the pages of her books.
I would gladly reread this story and look forward with great anticipation to the next book in this series.

Wow! This book was really good. I have been so looking forward to this book and it didn’t not disappoint! Facing the Enemy is the first book in Paige Edwards’ new series, Roxbury Heirs. Edwards weaves such a fascinating tale with engaging characters. This was just a wonderful book.
I really liked the characters in this book. I didn’t always agree with them, but I felt as if I got to know them. Both Elise and Harry were struggling with different things and learning how to move on with life; they felt real.
I have to admit that there were times where Elise got on my nerves, but as I read more about her I grew to like her. She was going through a lot and she was trying to work through the waves of life. Elise was a strong woman and I liked how she pushed herself. She was stubborn and opinionated but she cared for her family and for Harry. I liked how Harry was able to see past Elise’s walls and truly get to know her. Elise will have to learn that being an agent isn’t everything and how to let herself enjoy life.
Harry was also interesting. I liked that although he was dedicated to his job, he was still a good father. He cared about Sammy and he was truly trying his best. But he was struggling to balance his job and care for his son. I really liked Harry. He was kind and full of life, but he could also be serious. It was sweet to read about him interacting with Elise and trying to encourage her. Harry will have to figure out how to find that fine line between work and family.
Harry and Elise were a sweet couple. They had known each other before and it was cute to read about them connecting and falling in love. I liked their chemistry and easy batner, they truly did understand each other.
The plot was so engaging and I was on the edge of my seat. I needed to know what was going to happen and how it was going to end. I really enjoy the suspense, I felt as if it was perfect. It wasn’t too scary but I still wanted to read more. Sammy, Harry’s son, was also a lot of fun. I loved his mischievous nature, but also how sweet he was. He really added to the story.
Facing the Enemy is definitely a book you should read especially if you enjoyed Edwards' other books. This was a sweet second chance romance with lovable characters and thrilling plot! I did not want to put it down.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of 'Facing The Enemy' in exchange for an honest review.

I was really excited to read this and I was sure that it will be a book that I would deeply enjoy, but unfortunately that didn't happen and the book still didn't satisfied me.

The overall setting and the story as a whole was what drew me to request an arc of this book but it was not enough.

It was pleasing to read about the setting of the story and the arcs the characters got through and although this was a very short and quick read, I didn't felt anything about the characters. I was not emerged in the world and cheered for the characters like I wanted to.

Although I didn't like 'Facing The Enemy' that much , I would like to read Paige Edwards' books in the future.
