How would you feel if you couldn’t remember the last four years of your life? Would you just move on or do everything in your power to find out about it?
Amelia can't remember a four year period of her life. She remembers childhood and on, then a four year gap, then the past 6 months she can recall. She's determined to find out what happened during those four years. She was in a car accident that killed her father (remarkably her sister also died in a car accident with her father), and that is the last she remembers for four years. She is determined to get back those memories, despite her husband and her mother discouraging her at every turn.
Carl, her husband, Carl, has been calling out for Emily in his sleep, and Amelia thinks he is having and affair and is dead set on "finding the other woman."
I found the story interesting enough; however, I had the plot twist figured out very early on and was shocked it took so long to come to light. I really didn't feel invested at all in the characters, except maybe Emily who was a bit entertaining.
Definitely an easy listen audio, and I would try the author again because, although this wasn't my favorite, it was a decent read and I'm hopeful others would engage me even more.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

The premise of this book was extremely interesting, and I was excited to start reading. But after the main character "looked up at him through my long lashes" I knew I just couldn't finish the book. That's just terrible writing.
Sorry.

🤔💭: First off, thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my review! I was definitely intrigued by the premise of this book and it most definitely kept my interest from beginning to end. This had some really disturbing parts to this book, but I just tried to look past it to see how it would play out within this story. Amelia was in a car accident that took her fathers life and also stripped her of her memories on the past few years of her life. All she recalls is that her husband Carl found her after the accident and they lived in the city before moving back to the suburbs. One night when she hears her husband cry out the name Emily, she suspects he may have had an affair during her missing time and memory lapse and she just has a feeling he’s holding stuff back. Little flashes of memories return for Amelia and she’s determined to uncover what exactly happened during those years of missing memories. Once she begins on this journey, there’s no going back and she’s realizing the truth is more twisted than she could have imagined. Like I said, there were some twisted and disturbing parts to this book and I guessed pretty early on who the other woman was, but overall I thought this was an enjoyable read and I definitely was a fan of the ending.
✅: I would definitely recommend checking this one out 👍🏼

*trigger warning- abuse, incest, rape*
I really liked the premise of this book, I couldn’t wait to listen! Definitely reminded me of another book I’ve read. I did like Amelia, the main character. She definitely had depth in her character and growth.
An entertaining listen for sure! I would recommend this book. It did have many twists, as I guessed them in the very beginning so it was a bit predictable. The writing however was great. I would have personally preferred not to have listened to the abuse part of it, I guess it was a vital part of the story.

This book is *awful*. Horribly written characters, terrible plot conception and construction (did ANYone not figure out the "twist" in the first couple of chapters?) that make for a plodding, tedious, unbelievable, and lame storyline...But the worst is the gratuitous sexual abuse scenes of a child. There is a way to tackle child sexual abuse in fiction (Dark Horses comes to mind) but this absolutely was not it.
That's all I can say without giving away the so-called plot. Absolutely skip this one. So bad, on so many levels.
CW: sexual abuse, child sexual abuse, graphic sexual descriptions, toxic relationships, pedophilia, incest, rape, non-consensual sex
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to preview this audiobook. I wish I'd enjoyed it even a little, let alone as much as others from this publisher!

First of all thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this ARC. This audiobook was great, including the narration! Even though I figured out who the other woman was before it was totally revealed, I enjoyed the different twists and the reasoning behind the other woman's side of the story. I thought it was well written and an enjoyable psychological thriller/suspense to read. It also didn't seem too far fetched, something like this could happen!

Finding the Other Woman kept me on the edge of my seat. This book has been one of my favorite books of late. The way Cole Baxter was able to keep the information from us without giving it up was spectacular. The plot will keep you guessing the entire time. In the end, when you finally get the information that's missing, everything then makes sense.
The main character, Ameilia, lost four years of her life. She has no memories of what happened. She wants to find out what happened during that time. She's lost and feels like she's missing important information. However, She battled with her husband, Carl. He is overbearing, possessive, and controlling. He is making the process of finding out what happened harder. Amelia knows he is hiding what happened and keeping secrets.
I waited anxiously to find out why everyone was keeping secrets. Why would the husband act that way? I could not figure out why her mother would be completely clueless. Typically, children will gravitate towards their parents during trauma. However, Amelia did not. Then the details started dropping. As the process continued, she found a way to gain all the missing information. She then discovered what triggered the memory loss. And it is jaw-dropping!

This was awful. I couldn’t even finish it. Lots of trigger warnings needed for this one as well. Sadly this would be 0 stars if I could.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.
I really don't think I've ever had a DNF- I always make myself struggle through- but this came very close to being the first. It wasn't even the writing style which wasn't my favorite but wasn't terrible, it was the subject matter. Do NOT read this if you are going to be triggered in any way by sexual assault/coercion. I was not prepared for it and feel anxious just reflecting on this story. It would have been one thing if the scenes added to the story, but they didn't. The narrator did well, but that's about it for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audiobook copy. I offer my review freely.
Oh boy... Where do I start? I knew this was going a bad one not even 5 minutes into the story. The MC, who suspects her husband of having an affair, says something like "In his dream, he whispered the name Emily. A name not even close to mine, Amelia!" Are you kidding me?? I knew immediately that either the main character was stupid, or that the writing was bad. Not a good start.
Also, I was extremely lucky to be a reader without any triggers. Nothing in the synopsis could have prepared me for all the sexual assault and sexual coercion found in this book. It's like the author chose to write a psychological thriller in-between all the mostly-not-consensual sex scenes. Don't get me wrong: I have no problem with sex in books. My problem comes from the fact that there were absolutely no trigger warnings for those who need them (and they WILL need them for this book!) and that it was constant. Almost every single chapter. It didn't advance the story; it was completely gratuitous.
Add to that a vapid MC, her ridiculous husband that should've been an ex, an amnesia story that barely holds, the repeated phrases that made me want to mail a thesaurus to the author, and the fact that I figured out the twist almost immediately, I simply cannot give this more than one star.
And that star belongs to the narrator, Jennifer Jill Araya.

Imagine not being able to remember the last 4 years of your life. Amelia was driving her father home one night when they were in an accident that killed her father, oddly being the same way she had lost her sister when she was 12. Her husband Carl found her but there's a huge 4 year gap of her memory missing. She is determined to put the pieces together, with or without her husband or mother's help. What secrets are they holding from her? Will she be able to finally get her memory back and shed some light on the dark secrets of the past?
Thank you Netgalley, Cole Baxter and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to read and review this book. I was given the audio version of this book to read and it seemed to flow very well. Fair warning, this book contains a lot of triggers from drug use, incest, controlling behavior, manipulation and more. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book, some of which were predictable, some I didn't see coming. My overall thoughts is that I really enjoyed this book, but the extensive detail of the mention of incest and abuse got to be a bit much for me at times. I'm rating this ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you Netgalley for this audio edition of Finding the Other Woman by Cole Baxter.
Ew, no, I'm sorry, I hated this book so much. TRIGGER WARNINGS AND POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD. Approach with caution.
This might be a controversial opinion, but if you're a man, maybe don't author a book in the perspective of a young female victim of long term sexual abuse. Seriously, and if you are a survivor of said abuse, DON'T read this book. It's so graphic, so gratuitously descriptive, just no. Not to mention the absolute ridiculousness that was the memory loss, and relationship with the main character's husband, not to mention that obtuse vapidness of the main character. Getitawayfromme. Ugh, all of it, gross, yuck, terrible.

I really, really was intrigued by the sound of this novel. But unfortunately the first few chapters of the book were graphically intense and dealt with triggers I wish would've been warned about. Once I skipped over that, the rest of the novel progressed but I was still disappointed in the reveal and shocker that came up. Some great points was that Baxter is great at smooth writing, transitioning and such. I just wish I could've been able to enjoy it more but the trigger warnings of rape & child molestation were too difficult for me.
Thank you so much to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for this DARC!

"All Amelia has been told about the missing four years of her life is that her husband Carl found her after the car accident that killed her father, and they lived in the city together before moving to the suburbs.
She has no reason to question his story, but she knows Carl, and she can tell he’s holding something back. When he cries out in his sleep for Emily, she suspects he had an affair during her missing time and is trying to hide it from her.
When flashes of memories begin to return, Amelia knows she can’t sit back any longer. But once she opens the floodgates, the truth is more twisted than she ever could have imagined."
This book had a good premise, but, unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it. The twist in this psychological thriller was evident almost from the first chapter of the book. Amelia is one of those female protagonists that I cannot tolerate - a woman who is naive to the point of stupidity. It was a good premise, but this book failed to deliver on many levels.

This was the perfect thriller audiobook. The story is gripping and easy to follow. It started off slow but speeds up with a nice ending. I absolutely loved the narrator.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to review this advanced audiobook. Was a good story. I enjoyed the character development and the narrator.

3 stars
This is my first book from this writer; he seems to be a male author telling stories from a female perspective, which tends not to be my preferred type of storytelling. I’m putting that out there because it’s fair to assume that my perspective is skewing my opinions on the book a bit.
In stories like this one, where a character has a traumatic backstory, I wish the writer wouldn’t keep retelling the excruciating details of that trauma. It was more than the occasional flashback; I really didn’t need to repeatedly go through the specifics of the protagonist’s father sexually abusing her, nor did I need the frequent and detailed parallels of her feelings about the abuse to her experiences of sleeping with her husband. Ugh. Yes, it’s a creative choice, but it’s not one I loved. I’m not sure if it was just me, but I also felt like most of the outcome of this story was very predictable. I had it worked out almost immediately. Maybe it was supposed to be related to her brain injury, but it also seemed to me that the protagonist missed repeated glaringly-obvious clues…it felt like she should have been able to figure things out much more quickly and without someone else having to walk her through it all. Some of that just didn’t feel believable to me. Not a terrible book, and not enough for me to avoid the writer in the future, but it wasn’t one of my favourites.

Fast paced, but I figured out the twist pretty early one. Finished in one day so I did enjoy it. I think you will too.

Honestly, I didn't care for this one in the beginning but the more I listened to it the more I wanted to find out what was going on. I had it figured out before Amelia did but still, there were quite a few twists. Amelia is a woman who was traumatized by a car accident where her abusive father was killed and she was left with four years missing from her memory. My first thought was way in the world would she ever subject herself to getting in the car with her father and I still do but since she had so many secrets from her husband that could be the reason. She is pretty insecure and thinking her husband had an affair while she had amnesia. There were so many twists and turns and when she is finally at her breaking point she starts to take back her life and find answers. Little by little she puts it all together. I do have to say if I had been reading this one I would not have finished it but having it in audio let me slog my way through the beginning until I wanted to find out what happened.

No no no can't do it. Couldn't get past ch 3. Father raping daughter trigger warning... No no no. I'm sorry just reading that fast made me so anxious.
