This was an entertaining and informative read. I found myself sharing what I learned from this book with those around me. I recommend it to fans of good and highly readable non-fiction.

Very well thought-out book. I'm happy I read it.

I found this fascinating and really enjoyed learning about the star spangled banner. The author has clearly done a lot of research, and was very balanced in his portrayal of Key. The second chapter was the hardest, there was a lot about the music and it’s origins that was tough to wade through, honestly. It got a little too in the weeds. I especially liked how the author dealt with Key and the slavery question.
