I really enjoyed this story!
I found that the story was really well written and it was certainly a book that had me hooked.
I thought that it had a good storyline and some well developed characters that you wanted to give a hug.
It was easy to read, romantic and heartwarming and overall a sexy read.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
This was an interesting take on the MM trope of smart geeky guy is hot but doesn’t know it just yet. It is a mash up sexy college fantasy and also all the reality of awkward college hooks up and learning who you really are.
4 stars
I really enjoyed this! Both characters were able to stand out on their own and I didn't get confused on who was who. The cam boy aspect could've been a little stronger but honestly a solid read. I'm definitely going to pick up more from this author.
I enjoyed this book so much! The characters were likeable and relatable! I got sad that the book ended but how everything ties up in the end made me feel content and happy. Looking forward to the authors next work!
What a fun read!! The characters were well written and seemed so lifelike. Their circumstances also were very real. The plot was smooth and held your attention. Loved all their interactions with each other. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a good romance book that will draw them in.
There were parts of this I ate up, and parts of it that dragged. I was hoping there'd be more focus on the cam boy aspects of things, which had a much more minor role than I was hoping for. The sex was well written, tension was pretty good. It was unnecessarily dramatic at points, with a lot of the "side plots" feeling more useless than world building (see: Lucas, and Adam's family). Also the dialogue for the porn was cringey.
Three stars, because I might read another book set in this world, but I didn't particularly love this one.
This was a cute, sweet romance with a decent amount of spice. Also for once we didn't get the 3rd quarter break up so that was nice.
I got quite frustrated with Adam and the way he pushed Carter to open up. It just seemed like he was being overly pushy, really quickly and wasn't necessarily reciprocating. Also his reactions to Carters stories werent great, he was always questioning Carter whether it was as bad as he thought. In fairness it is believeable for a 19 year old to say that kind of stuff but still was frustrating. I think I especially disliked his reaction to Carter being pushed over and called a slur by his friend. In this case it feels very unlikely for Adam, a gay man, to react so blasé to it. Like it clearly traumatised Carter and Adams response was to reach out to his homophobic old friend?!? Very strange.
I really love Carter - he's sweet, has a plan and is driven to succeed as his own person... Adam, I had more trouble relating to... and I usually am all about the nerd voice, but he was quick to judge and just so far outside of what I'd have expected that it took me a while to warm to him...
I do like how this author takes Carter and Adam on a journey of growth, with them both facing different prejudices and obstacles, and bringing their relationships closer together... Jackals Wild was well paced and I look forward to seeing what comes next from this author.
A college M/M romance with plenty of steam!
Can I say I loved this book even without the steam? I will say it because Adam and Carter have a love story to be told.
Adam's a quiet, studious college student, who is rooming with Carter, and enigmatic, popular, rich(ish) boy. And Adam thinks he's good looking as well, though slightly frustrating given the mess he leaves around the place. They form a friendship of sorts that is based upon mutual attraction, and when Adam finds out Carter has a less-than usual job he finds himself helping Carter. It gives close-proximity romances another dimension.... or is it the employer - employee trope college student style? Loss and grief, online bullying, diverse characters - this hits some good topics.
Either way what's nice about this one is the drama surrounds this couple. There's not a lack of communication or event that forces the reader to question if the HEA is going to happen. It's really everyone else's drama and views, with this couple weathering the storm.
I really enjoyed this one.
Thanks to Netgalley, Abby Kaitz and Xpresso Book Tours for this title.
I love a good roommate to lovers trope so I was pretty excited to dive into this. This has the fun bonus of Carter being an adult entertainer, which I find an oddly fascinating topic in stories. We see one thing on the screen, but what is the truth behind the fantasy? Carters truth is that he’s a child of a widowed man that has expectations that Carter doesn’t want to live up to, so he’s doing his adult acting to pay for his own way. His roommate, Adam, is adorable in deeply introverted way. He’s unsure of most things, has one friend, and disposes his roommate. That is, of course, until he chips away at carters exterior and learns what makes him the way he is. Once the two come together and start their journey into Carters solo site, they have to deal with a stalker that’s leaving some pretty harrowing comments on the videos. I guessed the stalker pretty early on, so that shock wasn’t what I would of liked, but the storyline added some good heft to a story that otherwise could of been all fluff. A solid roommate to lovers romance!
It was like a 50/50 read in a way. The idea was super cute and though somewhat overdone, Abby was able to portray the characters and their emotions well. The dialogue was on the lower side but the spice was oh-so good. Would definitely read more of the author.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first book I have read from this author and omg my freaking heart. From the summary I was expecting something a little different but this story still didn't disappoint. It has growing pains, past traumas, a cute little romance and a dash of amateur porn. I can't wait to see what the author does with this world and its characters.
The premise is one that I enjoy but can be difficult to portray. The author is a great writer but the story felt forced and stilted at times. The characters had great personalities and felt real but their interactions seemed too formal, it felt like I was reading a journal article instead of a romance novel at times. I appreciate the sex positive view the author took, it was great to see how the fallout was handled and the different reactions each character had. The ending was a just bit too Hallmark for me.
Jackals Wild is a cute and steamy M/M romance by Abby Kaitz. The book tells the story of Adam and Carter, two college roommates who couldn’t be more different from one another. Adam and Carter start working together on Carter’s side project and the development of their friendship and subsequent relationship becomes more.
As with most college romances, there are a lot of feelings going on in this book, from coming of age, figuring out your sexuality, issues with family, to name but a few and this story was no different as we see the growth of both Adam and Carter throughout the story. This was a good start to a new series with a slow burn relationship, some well written characters and a good storyline.
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

This was a good story - Adam, a maths geek who finds his college roommate hot and frustrating until he finally starts to get to know him. Carter, whose life motto is to not let people get close, and who also has a porn side hustle. Along with some fun side characters and a few interesting side plots it had enough to hold my attention. It definitely had some sweet moments
But to be fair, this didn’t wow me. I never really fell in love with Adam. The recipe was there, awkward, a little bumbling, shy, but he was actually a bit judgemental and heartless to Carter - he frustrated me a lot. Carter on the other hand was wonderful, layered, fun, heartfelt - you rooted for him. It was Carter’s happy ending you were excited about.
In the end, I'm glad I read it, and I’ll most likely give the next book a try. Sometimes I just don’t connect with the first book in a series, so maybe it’s more a me problem.

Carter and Adam, polar opposite roommates, are brought together when Adam discovers Carter's secret online persona. When Carter ropes Adam into his line of work, they realize they have a lot more in common than they first thought. Will love bloom between them?
This was a cute read! I read it in one day; it was easy to fly through as there was nothing super complicated about the writing or the plot. It ticked all the boxes I expected it to tick: cute if a bit underdeveloped characters, a straightforward plot line with a fairly obvious villain, and a sugary sweet happy ending. Carter was my favorite of the two main characters; I found his chapters enjoyable and could empathize with him as a character more (which is surprising, as at first I thought I would relate much more to bookish, introvert Adam). I enjoyed Adam as well, but I felt there were times he was a bit too pretentious or emotional for my taste. While I thought that some plot lines, especially having to do with Carter's family, were a bit too cleanly tied up (a conflict that lasts throughout the story , and basically Carter's entire life, is pretty much solved through one conversation), I am a sucker for a happy ending so I'm willing to let it slide. For a debut, it is a fine job!
So, um... I was not expecting that story. I knew that it would be an interesting romance between college roommates. However, I was not expecting the turn of events that take place. I don't want to go into details and ruin anything, because when I realized what was happening, my jaw hit the floor. It was one of those moments where I was completely in shock at the revelation.
One thing that I really liked about this story was the way the author wrote the characters. Adam is an introvert nerd who would much rather study alone in his room than hang out with friends and go to parties. His roommate is the opposite. Carter is a bit of a slob who is never in his room, except when he's passed out in his bed. Needless to say, Adam has never really given his roommate a seconds thought. However, when he finds out his roommates secret, things get a lot more interesting.
Not only did I really like the story twist that takes place, but I also enjoyed the character development. Adam only recently came out as gay. So, he's still very reserved when it comes to embracing his sexuality. Then there's Carter who has felt lost and forgotten for years, and has learned to keep people are arms length. Add onto that that there is a stalker out there harassing Carter, and you have one very interesting story.
This was a pretty solid read. It was real and felt raw at times. I really enjoyed watching the characters grow and learn to embrace who they are. If you are in the market for a steamy m/m college romance, then I would give this book a read.
Surprisingly addictive LGBTQ+ love story and coming of age and sexual identify - in the backdrop of those crazy days of college, with college drama and family issues. Characters you can feel for and empathize with, regardless of your inclinations - you will be rooting for them all the way.
This is a cute jock/nerd story, with the twist that the jock is secretly doing porn on the side, but in the end, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. This book could be a good read for someone more into the college roommate set-up and the jock/nerd trope than I am. After all, it was cute and the writing style is not bad at all, but I quickly became bored and just wasn’t connecting to the story.
Even though I’m not usually looking for college stories, there are still some NA books I’ve read and really liked, because the chemistry between the MCs was compelling, so college romance is not a hard No for me. Now I will admit that the nerd character archetype is not my favorite, and that’s a “me” thing that influenced my appreciation of the book. I can say though that I liked that Adam wasn’t totally helpless in society, compared to other nerd characters I’ve read. Out of the two of them, he’s even the one with the most accomplished social life. In fact, both MCs were good characters and likable. The “porn star and his cameraman” was a fun plot device. The message about cyber-bullying and invasion of privacy was also well-done.
But in the end though, I just didn’t connect to either of the characters, and didn’t feel any stakes or tension in their relationship. The execution of the plot ended up being a little lack-luster and I wish the OnlyFans filming scenes were steamier instead of mostly comedic. I quickly lost interest, not because of anything bad, but because everything was just fine.
I received a free copy (ARC) on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
overall, no better then wheat i expected so i can’t say i’m disappointed when there wasn’t much to expect. the romance was mediocre, not much chemistry, the development between the two main characters was just ugh, it just was not delivering. won’t be reading again
