2.5 ⭐️ Rounded up to 3
I really really really wanted to love this book.. unfortunately it was just an okay read for me compared to the first book.
I feel like because of the unique nature of the way this was written, part of the way into the first book and then carrying on through this second installment, it did this story a disservice. I feel like details on the beginning of the relationship felt glossed over and rushed because they were mentioned in the first book (but as a side note!).. unfortunately it left the relationship feeling pretty unsteady and unbelievable.
Once we moved on from the events of the first book this story felt like it was settling into its own which was nice! I actually really enjoyed Clem and Gavin’s relationship after a while, and I loved watching Gavin’s character in growth. Although the Bisexual themes definitely seemed to be lacking (aside from a vague mention early on) I still really enjoyed the book I just definitely dislike the way it began and wish this could be read as a stand alone so I can easily recommend it without having to rely on the reader reading the first book also. This series would have benefited from the stories being standalone novels that enhance each other rather than the route that was taken, in my opinion.
The audiobook itself was a solid 3⭐️ Narration. I liked the voice of the narrator, I didn’t love the accents and the way Gavin’s voice was done though. Despite that I felt like the flow was well done and I’m happy I had the chance to listen to it!

Witches, magic, and steamy romance? Yes, please! I listed to the audio version of this book and enjoyed the quirky, fun aspects of this story. The sex scenes were unabashedly steamy, so definitely don't listen to this one in the car with the kids... Some of the wording used in the sex scenes made me cringe a little, but perhaps that's a personal issue. The narrator did a great job for the most part, but I did not like the way she did Gavin's voice at all; I found it very distracting. Overall, a fun, light read, but it would have been much improved by a male voice actor for Gavin's role I think. My advice would be to skip the audio and just read the book.

Thank you NetGalley, Ann Aguirre for the advanced eARC!
I didn't realize this was a sequel to "Witch Please" (which I haven't read) so it was a bit confusing on some parts. I love a forbidden love, a witch falling for a witch hunter? I think that gets as forbidden as you can. It was an okay audio. I would have liked to hear more magic and spooky things. It had a lot of spice which is always welcomed.

This is a nice light read. Plenty of romance, a little sexiness, and an actual plot. I was so invested that I finished it in one day. It's lighthearted and fairly fast paced. The characters are loveable despite their flaws. I definitely recommend this book.

Clementine Waterhouse is the responsible one, the one you can always depend on, the one who never allows herself to fall in love with anyone or develop deep emotional attachments. So when the witch hunter comes into town, she makes a plan to seduce him and keep him busy and away from her coven, until he loses interest and leaves town. Gavin Rhys hates being a witch hunter, but it is all he has ever known, and he hates disappointing his father, so he does it anyway. But things in St. Claire aren't what they seem, and Gavin is distracted from the job immediately by a bewitching brunette with a sexy smile. Will Clem finally be the one to help him walk away from the family business for good?
This is such a fun series. I listened to the first book as well, and this book overlaps a little, so if you haven't read (or listened to) that one, you wouldn't be lost, but you would enjoy both equally. There is much more magic in this book than there was in book one, which I really enjoyed. I also love how at the end of the book you get a teaser of what the next book in the series will be about. Just a note of caution in case you plan to listen to this out loud with children nearby - there are LOTS of graphic sex scenes! I can't wait for the next book in the series to see where the story goes from here.

I really liked this book! It was definitely better than the first book. Clem is amazing. This is a romance but it has a pretty good plot line too. I got sucked in right away and the book really kept me interested. I was shocked by one of the plot twists. It was fun and cute and I love a good forbidden romance.
Benson the mouse for president!
This will be posted on my Instagram @katebrownreads as well.

Boss Witch imo was part of the same fun witchy world as Witch Please and it had an interesting twist. The spiciness was once again on point. However, it fell a bit more flat than it’s predecessor. I just never connected much with Clem or Gavin. Usually the character development is my favorite part of any story but I found them to be just ok so I was a bit bored until it got to the action. I love the world this series is set in so I hope there is more to come. Side note: Benson is the real MVP.
Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

2nd book in Fix-it Witches series. Can be read as standalone, but better read in order. Charming Sexy RomCom with dual POV and HEA.

There’s a hot witch hunter getting too close to Clem’s coven, so obviously the plan is to seduce and destroy him. But what happens when the feelings she gets are real?
This book was too steamy for me. Too much steam, not enough plot. The end bit was kind of fun, but I probably wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for steamy with a side of plot.
Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for an audiobook ARC!

I cannot control my need to make lists, so here are my top reasons to read Boss Witch by Ann Aguirre:
1. I love the witchy small town vibe. The book is set in the small town of St. Clair where everyone knows everyone’s gossip. Ann Aguirre does a great job of creating the world of witches that seamlessly fits into the world around us.
2. This book is completely stand alone. I did not read the first book in this series, although I wish I had! Even without reading the first book, I was able to become completely immersed in the story.
3. Gavin and Clem are adorable. Their banter is bewitching! So cute and full of sass. Clem is a boss and doesn’t take crap from anyone. Gavin is sweet and rough at the same time.
4. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator is on point with the voices and range of emotion.
5. REGULAR SHOW reference!!?!? I literally thought I was the only person that watched that show like a decade ago. So freaking good and what an awesome pop culture reference.
6. The Coffee Klatch crew are amazing. I have a total place in my heart for pensioners! When I was in college, I joined a lawn bowling group just so I could hang out with older folks. That is what the coffee klatch is and Gavin just fits in with them.
I could go on and on, but the main point is that I really enjoyed this book. Two thumbs way up and highly recommend!

While Danica is flirting with the local baker, Clem is flirting with danger in the form of handsome witch hunter, Gavin. To keep him distracted means keeping her coven safe, but how long can this fling go on before they both have to admit there’s more than magic between them?
These books have been so much fun. We join Clem at about the midway point of Witch Please, when we first identify Gavin. It was strange to experience some scenes again that we’d already read in book one, but it made sense to bring in Clem’s perspective and goings on that we didn’t see before. A bit of an odd choice, but it sets the timeline we’re working with.
Clem and Gavin are dynamite together. The forbidden love aspect was really fun, and I enjoyed watching them battle with the finite nature of their relationship, with Clem knowing who he is, and Gavin knowing he’ll be moving on before long.
If you’re looking for open door steam, it’s here! Otherwise, this is a sweet story, with some great moments of female friendship along the way.
One thing that I especially loved was the Coffee Clutch group. I’m a sucker for sassy seniors, and I was glad to see them multiple times throughout! Also, Benson! If you know, you know 💖
I thought the narrator fit the story really well, and kept me engaged. This was really good on audio!

Boss Witch was a highly anticipated read for me because I just devoured Witch Please. I was so excited to receive a copy from NetGalley!
This book delivered and takes places alongside book one. Clem knows there is a witch hunter in town and takes on the responsibility of distracting him and getting information from him. Of course no one told her how that has to look...so naturally flirting and hooking up are on the table. Gavin is in town to find the coven of witches, but he doesn't mind the attention he's getting from a hot local. He's fine with flings since he lives a rather nomadic lifestyle.
This book started off a little slower than book one. I was instantly hooked in Witch Please, but it did take me a little while to become fully immersed in this one. That aside, I loved the characters and the twist at the ending. I thought it was so well done. I absolutely loved their unconventianl love story. I'm so excited there will be a third in the series!

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an advance copy of this book! All opinions are my own!
I am absolutely adoring this series, and I really hope that more people start to pick it up!
I loved Clem in this book and getting the look in her mind and seeing how badass she really is. In the first book, she was just a rock for Danika, but in this book, you see the real strength that she has. She is holding her family together, and this book really shows you a behind-the-scenes look at how she manages and how she holds herself together.
I also really loved the way that both Clem and Gavin grew and learned and that they did this separately. They are perfect together, and I love that they don't have to save each other. They save themselves and then come together, and that was super refreshing. And the intimate scenes....*swoon*!! They are so perfect together and it shows in every part of their relationship.
If you're a fan of romcoms with strong women, definitely check this series out. It's filling my fantasy-loving, romance-needing heart!

Loved this story. A nice witch is forced to protect her coven by distracting the witch hunter who rode into town. What starts out as a ruse ends in broken hearts. But sometimes broken hearts can be mended with a little magic and forgiveness. Loveable damaged characters who learn to love again. This is an enjoyable, enemies to lovers' story well written.

Rating: 3.25
Boss Witch was an okay read, while there were some cute and funny moments I unfortunately just couldn’t really connect with any of the characters.
I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator, Ava Lucas was fine. She did a decent job with the different character voices however, I think the story could have benefited more with dual narrators.
This is the second book in the Fix-It Witches series and the timeline of this book does overlap with the first book, so I would recommend reading that one first.
The plot while slow-paced still felt very rushed at times. There were scenes and moments that either felt too underdeveloped, long-winded or lacked depth.
There was more of a magical and witchy element in the story than there was in the first one that I quite enjoyed. I also really liked the forbidden romance between the main characters, who were a witch and a witch-hunter. They just had some great development from enemies to lovers and the spice was amazing as well.
There were some plot twists that I did not see coming, which were quite interesting and made the story more compelling. I will say that my favorite character in this book was by far the mouse, Benson.
Overall, just a decent read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love Ann Aguirre and really enjoyed her first Fix-It Witches book. Based on the cover I was expecting this book to be light and frothy, but it has a more serious tone and a lot more plot than the romance story I was expecting.
To protect her family and coven, witch Clem starts dating witch-hunter Gavin to keep an eye on him. Gavin is having problems with his overbearing father and is re-considering his profession. The set-up to get Clem and Gavin dating was the most confusing part of this book, and really didn't make sense, but I enjoyed the story once they got together. Their grumpy-grumpy enemies to lovers relationship worked well since they are both prickly, closed-off, and difficult to love.
Large portions of this book are spent with Clem's friends and neighbors, which I appreciated since it really expanded the world and showed a different side of Clem. The ending was unexpected but enjoyable, as I would expect for an Ann Aguirre book. In all, this book really worked for me, even though it had a lot more plot than necessary for a cute romance.

This second book in the series focuses on Clem and her relationship with Gavin, the witch hunter. Clem sets out to distract Gavin from the coven, but they both fall for one another. There is lots of steamy romance and a few plot twists in this fun, magical story. I listened to the audio book for the first part of the story and read the last part. I enjoyed it in both formats.

I’m a little bit torn for this one. In Book 1, I felt like we got dropped in the middle of the story and we’re missing something until about halfway through. With this one, the first half was a repeat of Book 1 from a slightly different perspective until halfway through.
That being said, I really enjoy this series! It’s got some spice, some tension, and it addresses prejudice in a different way. I also love the redemption of the villain/hero. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! I, also, thoroughly enjoy the narrator. There is something about her voice that discreetly conveys everything the characters are feeling.
DISCLAIMER: I received this book free from NETGALLEY in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely enjoyed this entertaining second book in the Fix-it Witches series. Boss Witch focuses on Clementine Waterhouse who is the best friend, roommate and cousin to Danica, the focus of the first book. And interestingly the author chooses to overlap the timeframes of the book giving a view of some events from a different point of view. I would suggest reading them in order because if you only read this one Danica comes off in a undeserved negative light. Also the world building is done more in the first book. Clementine and her coven are worried about the witch hunter that has arrived in town. She decides to meet him and distract him from his work in part to keep an eye on him. The last thing she expects is the steamy sparks they ignite together.
Gavin Rhys doesn’t like being a witch hunter. But he’s been trying to win his father’s approval his whole life. And all that his dad cares about it is finding witches and carrying on the family legacy. He’s been sent to this small mid-western town but isn’t finding much witch energy. He does meet Clem at the local bar and she offers to show him some of the local sights like berry picking. They both know he is only in town temporarily but that doesn’t stop them from finding lusty pleasure together.
I truly liked this book more than the first one. I learned more about the witch world and enjoyed the coven members. Benson the familiar is a cute addition. Antics from Clem’s grandmother causes family issues in both books and I like how Clem stands up for herself. I’m excited for the next book in the series, especially since the epilogue gives some hints about it.
I listened to the audio book and the narration by Ava Lucas was great. She brought the characters to life. I did speed up the dial to 1.25 which I do for most of my audibles. A fun continuation of in this fantasy/paranormal series. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an Audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Really good romance with witches. I know the ending won't be everyone's favorite but I liked how the end tied everything up. Really enjoyed how they explained the magic system and the ways they used it. Kinda wanted them to do the same for the hunters/trackers in the first part of the book. But good read overall.
