Absolutely entertaining! This book overlaps the first book as it shows some of the same timeline, but this time from Clem and Gavin's point of view. Intriguing, delightfully funny with building suspense and great bedroom antics to keep you entertained for hours, The war between the witches and the hunters is building leaving Clem and Gavin not only in the middle, but on opposite sides. A great paranormal romance with several subplots overlapping the main plot to give the story more depth and decidedly more entertainment! I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series as this series has been absolutely fantastic to listen to! I really hope there will be more books in this series!

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. Was an okay story. I thought the language and sexual stuff was a bit much. The narrator did a good job and the cover is cute.

I was slightly confused in this book finding that I seemed to have missed chunks or that the world building seemed slightly off and then I realized that this was a sequel and I totally missed the first one, which is on me. Beyond that and taking those not really faults aside, I really enjoyed this story.
Boss Witch is about Clementine, a witch who works as a techno-witch in small town, fixing computers and what not. She is driven by her coven to protect them when a witch hunter comes to town and Clem decides to be a really distracting distraction by dating him away. It gets complicated, obviously.
This book was a pretty fun rom-com. I enjoyed the light magic world build and complicated family dynamics. I really liked the romance between the two main characters which obviously was needed to enjoy most of the story since it was the main focus. Clem was a difficult character but an understandable one and her dynamic worked with the love interest even if it didn’t always make her look the best with other characters. She seemed particularly hard to her cousin who I understand is the main character of the first book so I look forward to that.
There is definitely a level of cheesiness but I wanted that. I loved the cute random dates and chemistry and the spice was nice. The plot is loose but keeps the story moving forward and a ‘plot hole’ I questioned turned out to be a feature not a bug!
I listened to this on audio, narrated by Ava Lucas who generally did a great job though I did not like her ‘male’ voice for the main love interest and it was very distracting.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this audio ARC! I plan on going back and reading the first and then following up for the next book!

Boss Witch
by Ann Aguirre
Narrated by Ava Lucas
I received a digital copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the series and I would recommend reading the first book before this one as this one overlaps with the previous book - starting about 2/3 in maybe? Additionally I feel it’s important to see what’s happening on the other side of this cousin relationship otherwise the previous heroine may seem less likable.
Trigger warnings - generational trauma/controlling criticism, family secrets, bigotry. Open door and steamy.
I love that Ann Aguirre makes her supernatural characters so human and relatable. She really excels at this by highlighting their deep rooted personality traits and “flaws” that lead them into relatable foibles, fumbles and misunderstandings or unique understanding when ordinarily people cannot relate well. Additionally offering the inner thoughts of our two man characters through alternating points of view lends invaluable insight and understanding to seamlessly take you along for the ride.
I’ve read more witchy contemporary romances since I started reviewing for NetGalley than I ever had before but Ann Aguirres are my favorites. 5/5

I LOVED the first book in this series, so I was super pumped to get an advanced copy audiobook for review. It was every bit as good as the first, if not better. I love the forbidden element of a witch and the sexy hunter. There was a lot more chemistry and spice, with just as much swoony tenderness and romance. I think Ann Aguirre is really underrated. She writes so many different types of series, and she never misses!
Last year, there were 2 popular witch rom-coms released (Ex Hex and Paybacks a Witch), but neither of them accomplished what Ann brought with the Fix-It Witches series. These are cozy and sweet small town romances, complete with meddling neighbors and gossip, contained within a beautifully established and vibrant larger magical world.
I hate reading worlds that take hundreds of pages to build while still being filled with frustrating mystery, but I'm equally critical of magical worlds that feel slapped together and hollow. I really hope she chooses to continue the series; there is so much potential in her little coven and within the universe

This is a delightful second installment in this witchy series by Ann Aguirre. I found this novel to be charming, spellbinding and a fantastic continuation in the Fix-It Witches universe. Ann Aguirre has stepped up her game in this novel with more witchy delights, a fantastic level of steam and a hero and heroine who should not be together but can't keep away from each other. The writing in this novel is well paced and charming and sets a fun and lighthearted tone when needed while also dealing with topics that have more gravity. I found this installment to be even stronger than the first, and watching this world be explored further was very gratifying and leaves me very excited for the next book in this series.
This book focuses on Clementine, who is bisexual and a perfectly logical witch, and Gavin, who hates being a witch hunter but wants to restore honor to his family line. These two opposites find themselves struck by a strong attraction and desire that is too hard to fight. Watching them bicker, flirt and charm their way into each others good graces is full of fun and delightful antics.
I was able to enjoy this book through an audio experience, which I found to be well produced and wonderfully performed by Ava Lucas. Ava is able to fully embody both Clementine and Gavin with grace and dedication. I found that Ava made some really strong and lovely choices in the vocalization of both hero and heroine that kept me engaged throughout the story. Ava had a lovely handle on moments of humor and lightness as well as ones that required a more serious undertone. Through Ava both Clementine and Gavin came to life for me and I really enjoyed experiencing this story through this medium and would highly recommend the audiobook.
Overall this story was really delightful. I loved Clementine and Gavin together, I loved watching there attraction grow and develop. This novel was beautifully steamy, and Clementine and Gavin really explored through relationship and trust through physical exploration, and I found this novel to be more sensual than the first because of this. I would highly recommend this novel, especially if you enjoyed the first and want more from this world, and I would also recommend trying this novel if you liked the first but are unsure if you want to continue on in this series. I definitely found that continuing on was a really wonderful experience and I liked the first book but I really enjoyed the second just a bit more.

When a witch hunter arrives in their small town, Clementine Waterhouse's coven must take action to avoid discovery. With her magic hidden, Clem arranges to meet the hunter at a local bar. She's drawn to his English accent and she's also physically attracted to him. Clem is dating the irresistible Gavin to distract him from his witch hunt, but she also ends up diverting herself.
Clementine is torn between loyalty to her sisters and her desire for the hunter. Gavin is also torn between the duty to his family's line of work and his feelings for Clem. Eventually, the coven is found out and they must fight to keep their powers and escape persecution.
Clementine runs the Fix-It Witches shop with her cousin Danica. Danica's love story with the local baker is chronicled in the first novel of the series, Witch Please. The first appearance of witch hunter Gavin also happens in the first novel.
Recommended for fans of witchy novels like Practical Magic and A Discovery of Witches. Readers who enjoy enemies to lovers romances will also appreciate the novel.

✨ Review ✨ Boss Witch by Ann Aguirre; Narrated by Ava Lucas
This is the second book in the Fix-It Witches series, and it follows Clem, Danica's cousin, as she fends off witch-hunter Gavin Rhys. When attraction strikes like lightening, Clem and Gavin both have to consider what this relationship means for their families and their way of life.

If you want to read this series, read book 1 first. In this case, it matters! Book 2 overlaps in time with Book 1 and tells overlapping events through Clem and Gavin's eyes, and it brilliantly deepens the story of Book 1. I liked the first book, but this one was even better. The additional layers of context, the world building, and the steaminess all were amped up a notch. You'll lose some of this journey if you read Book 2 first I think.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed Ava Lucas's narration (she even had cute animal voices), and her voice for Gavin was **heart eyes**

I have to admit that I came into Boss Witch with a bit of hesitation. Aguirre as an author currently stands at 3 hits to 1 miss in my scoring system with the one miss being the first book in this paranormal romance series. However, we got enough of Clem and Gavin's romance in the first book to keep me interested in picking up this next installment in the Fix-It Witches series.
For me, this is definitely an improvement over the first book for me with the world of the witches being given more prominence in the story and in the characters' lives. We get some great side characters in the forms of animal familiars, a elderly love triangle, and Clem's coven and I really appreciate that this book wrapped up some of the arcs within Clem's family dynamics (a major complaint that I had in about the first book).
There were still some issues in this book for me, some of which were carried over from the first book. In the case of some characters, LGBT rep feels thrown in as an afterthought and there is a passing reference to the pandemic that feels wholly unnecessary in this world. While I think that the physical component of Clem and Gavin's relationship is fleshed out really well, the establishing of the emotional connection felt a little wobbly even with Aguirre establishing that they have a mystical soul bond.
I question whether I will continue the series because despite the fact that I think the female protagonist of the next book is going to be a fun one, Aguirre basically gave us the entire arc of her story in the epilogue of this book. That's a decision for later me. For now, all I can say is that I am glad that this book racked up one more point for Aguirre's win column in my book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ARC of this audiobook in exchange for a fair and honest review!

I’m really glad I listened to this as an audiobook because I think without the audio, I may have DNFed it. Boss Witch is the sequel to Witch Please and follows Clem as she tries to save her family from the witch hunter in town who shows up after her cousin Danica’s magic spiked in book 1. Excerpt Gavin hates being a witch hunter and has struggled with the path his family has forced him to take, and when he meets Clem, he is captivated by her. First, what I did like… I loved Gavin, I thought he was so endearing and I loved the complexity he had with not wanting to be a witch hunter. And I loved how Clem brought out his desire to find roots for himself and when Clem gives him a mouse named Benson, it was so sweet watch Gavin grow and connect. I also loved the banter between Clem and Gavin and their dates. I liked Clem in the relationship with Gavin too. With him, she was vulnerable and playful and funny. But with her family and her character felt insanely frustrating. She spent the whole book saying how she never opens up because she doesn’t feel support from her family and feels like she carries the weight of everyone’s problems and I do feel bad for her. She is stuck in a lot of hard situations but she has no empathy. She is critical and honestly rude I think a lot of the time, and I didn’t feel like there was any growth with her outside of her relationship with Gavin, and family was such a big part of the book, I needed that growth. Gavin and the magic in this book really saved it because I feel like Clem was lacking as a heroine. The magic was interesting and the romance was smart and sexy and very steamy. I loved the unique forbidden love angle and there were some fun moments, I just wanted more from Clem.

This is a [very] steamy witch + witch hunter forbidden romance. This has a lot more heart than I expected and I got invested in the fun full cast of characters. Benson the mouse was a great comedic relief at times. I listened to the audiobook version of this and the voice/accent given to Gavin made it difficult to believe him as the romantic interest until we got toward the end—I just kept seeing a character that was more his grandfathers age! If you’re looking for lighthearted paranormal romance, this is for you!

Steamy delightful read. Clementine is refreshing, she is not a typical romcom MC who just lets things happen around her. This had an over arching story and world that is intriguing. I would have enjoyed the plot digging deeper into it.
Will review on amazon once released and able to.

Another cute, fun, and steamy installment in the Fix-It Witches series! This centers around Clementine (who co-owns the Fix-It store with Danika (from book 1)) and her relationship with a witch hunter, Gavin. Definitely a fun premise (kind of a forbidden romance?) that kept me entertained. I also was not expecting the twist surrounding Gavin & the witch hunters so that was a fun surprise. Overall, I enjoyed this but, it just didn't have that * something * that pushed me to really like it. Does that make sense? lol
I will also note the audiobook was great!
Rating: 3.5 stars

Another entertaining installment in the Fix-It witches series. I really enjoyed this dual perspective, opposites attract, forbidden romance between Clem and Gavin. When witch hunter Gavin comes to the small town of St. Clair the witches go on high-alert, sending Clem to investigate how much he knows. The trouble is, jaded about love Clem, finds Gavin hard to resist! Sizzling chemistry, some steamy open door scenes and an adorable mouse familiar make this paranormal romance an easy win! I can't wait for the next book in this series. Perfect for fans of Not the witch you wed or The ex hex. Great on audio too. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy! All opinions are my own.

AH! So first and foremost I have been absolutely obsessed with the Ann Aguirre books since she started releasing them, seeing that she had another witchy book coming out I was so excited to see Boss Witch because Witch Please was absolutely hilarious and funny that I was desperate for more to read!
Gavin and Clem were the perfect characters for this kind of storyline, where they were both funny, bubbly and a little sasstastic. Needless to say, I am completely obsessed with the second book of Ann's series!
Their story was romantic, funny, and shows that even the most opposite people can attract one another. If I had to chose a witchy romance to recommend to all my friends, this book is easily the first one that I would recommend! Absolutely brilliant!
