I really love the Katie Scott series, and seeing how her and her partner, McGavin, seem to be able to solve cold cases out of almost thin air - and this one was quite a doozy, with so little to go on, but Katie invested and determined to figure things out. And things get complicated pretty quickly, and quite grisly

The ending was pretty intense, as usual, with some nice twists to keep things interesting. I always enjoy that you can never quite rest easy in these books, because you never know what's coming around the corner. For example, I had my own theory for this one, but was wrong, lol

We also got to see more of Katie's personal growth and journey, which is always nice. With each book, it's like a new episode that we get to see of her journey through civilian life and I love it.

So to summarize, another great Katie Scott book in a series you should be reading!

The entire time I read this book I kept envisioning the camp out of the original Friday the 13th movie since they both had similarities. Katie’s old camp has become a killer’s playground as the bodies stack up the canoes and kayaks. Katie and McGavern are frantically trying to track down the clues and culprits. Cisco is there to lend a canine help. Katie has to face a big change in her life after the case is over. Is she ready for it?
I read this in one setting because I couldn’t tear myself away from the action packed narrative and I Hines,Ty had no clue who was stalking the camp.

I enjoyed this book but think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read more of the series but it was an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon on a lazy day.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Frightening, tricky and involved. We're these victims connected? How could they be-- that is the question and just how will law enforcement figure it ou?
Thank you netgalley the publisher for this arc

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Silent Little Angels’, the seventh in the Detective Katie Scott series written by Jennifer Chase, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Detective Katie Scott and newly promoted Detective Sean McGaven are sent to the Eagle Ridge Camp when the body of a woman is found floating in the boat house. Soon after two more bodies are discovered, and Katie fears for her own life when she realises someone is watching her every move. Katie is going to find this assignment more difficult than any she’s been involved in as it was at this Camp that her best friend Jenny disappeared many years ago.

Ms Chase has produced yet another inspired nail-biting thriller with a chilling plot that’s had me engrossed from page one. The plot is well-written with lots of action, suspense, drama and twists and turn, and as the tension has increased I’ve been gripped trying to guess the identity of the serial killer but unable to. I’ve enjoyed catching up with Katie and McGaven who still works with Katie in Cold Cases but is also part-time in the Robbery-Homicide department, not forgetting the well-trained Cisco and Katie’s fiancé Chad who it’s a pleasure to meet again. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this latest book based in the Pine Valley Sheriff’s Department and can’t wait for number eight.

Oooh, I have enjoyed this series, and this instalment doesn't disappoint.

Detective Katie Scott and her partner, newly promoted Detective Sean McGaven, have been tasked with getting to the bottom of what is happening at Eagle Ridge Summer Camp. Even though the camp has been abandoned for years, clearly someone has been there recently and their intentions are not benign.

Several women turn up dead and trying to understand what has happened to them and who is responsible, is not easy. There are some eerie moments in this book as Katie thinks she can see and hear her dead friend from years ago. Cisco plays a big part in this story, which is lovely :)

All in all, this was a solid book. There were some threads that didn't get explored fully, evidence that didn't get explained, but that is ok, it was only a minor annoyance.

4 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Eagle Ridge Summer Camp was a very special place for Katie Scott, until author Jennifer Chase plots a series of murders there... just for Katie to solve. Battling her PTSD and memories of a very special friend, Katie charges into this case, head one, as she always does. With the dynamic duo of Cisco and McGaven on her team... and her uncle, the sheriff, having her back... Katie digs deep into the camp's history, its counselors, and other interested parties. It's an awesome addition to this Series... I love how Ms. Chase keeps pushing Katie - but also stays true to her heroine. Readers new to this series can start with this book, but you'll be wanting to go back to read the rest! An absolute must read!! Thank you to Bookouture for an ARC of this book!

Katie Scott and Cisco are my favourite crime fighting duo - and I get super excited each time a new Jennifer Chase is released. Fighting to keep her cold case team of 2 together, Katie is called to her old camp grounds when a body is found.
As much as I wanted to love this, I have to admit it was a little less enjoyable. Maybe it was me, just not feeling 100% but it has to be a 4.5.
A little long winded with a lot of coming and going, I found myself losing a bit of interest and having to keep putting it down.
I will still wait with eager anticipation for the next one!!!

Silent Little Angels – Jennifer Chase
Many years ago, while attending a summer camp named Eagle’s Ridge, Katie Scott’s young friend Jenny disappeared one afternoon, never to be seen again. It was later determined that Jenny’s father was her killer. Now, Katie is suddenly immersed in the sadness of that time, as she and her partner Sean McGaven are summoned to the property one more – a woman’s body has been found floating beneath a dock at the lake’s edge with a missing left arm – and there’s concern for explosives on the property. Retired K9 Cisco’s expertise is requested.

When Katie and Cisco arrive at the scene, she is promptly assailed with memories of the past, and the dread that comes with the reminders of Jenny’s death. As she & Sean search the campgrounds, Cisco alerts, seconds before Katie falls into a camouflaged pit, where she discovers another female body, this one is missing her left foot. The next day, a third body is found, again female, and this time her kidneys are missing. Then, a newspaper article is found at the scene – with Katie’s name circled…

As the bodies are identified via forensics, Katie is stunned when she realizes that they were all camp counselors at Eagle’s Ridge in years past. Why did one of them leave the job she loved so abruptly? As Katie researches the camps past, she learns of a young child who was severely injured on a hike years ago. Are the killings related? As Katie and Sean search for answers, the killer sets his sights on a new victim…Katie…

I love this series!! Katie is a strong, impetuous, investigator, who still struggles with PTSD from her time in the military. With the help of her explosive sniffing partner Cisco, and her partner Sean, they make a formidable cold case investigative team! I thoroughly enjoy these characters and each new novel is like a visit from a very dear friend!! (The novel name is a bit puzzling to me though – Silent Little Angels implies child victims to me – but whatever!) Loved this book, love this series and I can’t wait for this trio’s next adventure!

I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy from Netgalley & Bookouture in exchange for an objective review. Do you love to read?? Visit netgalley.com and start reviewing books today!!

A fast paced book with a tight suspense. The plot was weak and there are some loose ends which dampened the overall experience. The explanations for some of the events are not completely satisfactory. If one doesn’t go too critical with respect to the plot then it would be enjoyable especially for fans of the series.

Det Katie Scott has good & bad memories about going to Eagle Ridge Camp as a child. She met her fiance Chad but she also lost her best friend Jenny. Jenny just disappeared only to be found murdered. She has always hoped to make peace with what happened as she has carried so much guilt about it all.
The camp has been closed for years so why is someone killing women that worked there.? What do they all have in common? Can Katie and the team find the killer before more victims are killed?
A terrible tragedy happened during a storm and the killer wants payback for what happened. But they know that the victim is dead so who wants justice now?
Will Katie be able to stop the killer? Can she let Jenny go now?
A great thrilling read. Love Katie she is a strong capable woman that doesn't stop until she finds the killer. I am glad that she made the choice in the end about the house.
I received an ARC copy from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my honest voluntary review.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Silent Little Angels, the seventh novel to feature Detective Katie Scott of the Pine Valley, California Sheriff’s Office.

A body is found floating in the water at Eagle Ridge, a former children’s camp in the mountains above Pine Valley. Unfortunately she is not the only body at the camp as a further two are discovered during a search. When Katie discovers that all three women were working as camp counsellors when a tragic accident occurred 22 years ago she has her link between the victims, now all she has to do is find the killer.

Silent Little Angels is a bit of a mixed bag. It is very readable with a fast moving plot, tension and excitement so I have rated it at 4*. I’m much less enthusiastic, however, about how it comes together.

The novel is told entirely from Katie’s point of view, which I always like as it allows the reader to get invested and immersed in the read. This is no different and I found myself immediately caught up in events and the investigation. I think that the author does a good job of ratcheting up the tension and excitement as the novel progresses. On the other hand, I thought that there were several instances of things that didn’t make much sense or lacked any explanation. Why would a killer who has a long list of intended victims try to involve Katie in his machinations? Especially when she had nothing to do with the camp when the women worked there. Why does Katie keep seeing her dead friend from the camp? There is an explanation but I don’t care as ghosts don’t figure in my appreciation of crime novels. There are other examples but they would involve spoilers. I think a certain suspension of critical thinking is required for this novel.

Silent Little Angels is a good read if the reader goes with the flow and doesn’t ask too many questions.

Love this series and the characters. As always, a great story that is well-written and fast paced. I couldn't put this one down until I finished it. Can't wait to see what cold case Katie solves next.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

I love this series! Every book sucks me in, and I don't want to put them down.

Detective Katie Scott and her partner have their work cut out for them in this case. It begins at an old abandoned summer camp, a body is found and it opens up a can of worms from the past. Not only for the killer and victim, but for Katie too. She used to attend this camp with her now fiance and her best friend Jenny. Then one victim becomes two, then three..

What do all of these victims have in common, and how does it all connect to the summer camp where they were found? Katie and Gav have their work cut out for them on this case, digging into the past and seeing if they can put all of the pieces together before someone else ends up dead..

I love returning to this series and seeing Katie and her faithful companion Cisco... and each case really makes you work for the answers.. Even if you have suspicions on who the killer is, you have no idea how or why they are connected until its revealed..

I can't wait to see what my favorite cold case detectives and Cisco get up to next!

Eagle Ridge is a place full of memories for cold case investigator Detective Katie Scott, some are happy, but some remain unspeakably tragic. When a body is found at the now abandoned summer camp Katie and her ex-military K9 Cisco are called in to help search the beautiful but potentially dangerous location.

As it becomes clear the camp isn't as derelict as first thought Katie and partner Detective Sean McGaven find themselves looking for a killer with possible links to a devastating occurrence from decades earlier. With her PTSD threatening to resurface and a private life moving into new unexpected areas, Katie is putting herself under pressure to solve the case sooner rather than later but someone with other ideas is watching her every move .

This is the seventh Katie Scott mystery and the main protagonists are a familiar and welcoming group to return to. The case itself is compelling and page turningly exciting, resulting in a definite need to discover who was responsible. The twists, turns and new directions the case took were all in some way unexpected and I found plenty of opportunity to second guess myself.

Unfortunately in places the narrative wasn't as good as the storyline deserved with the author having a tendency to write almost as if she lacks confidence in her own descriptive skills. In reality she was telling me things which had already been shown more than adequately and this is a shame because I loved all the investigative aspects of this book.

Katie is a flawed but likeable main protagonist and her partnership with McGaven is working very nicely thank you, although again there seemed an unnecessary need to tell the reader just how well it was all going. The investigation storyline was a definite five star read diluted in places by an unnecessary compulsion to make doubly sure nuances weren't missed.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. Thankfully, even with my reservations, the storyline won out and I definitely intend to continue following Katie into any further adventures she may have.

Another steady paced read in the Katie Scott series. As usual, it's well written and has a clever plot with some interesting characters, not forgetting her dog Cisco. Katie is transported back to her childhood when a serial killer leaves a trail at a summer camp where she spent some time as a child. This never gripped me like previous books in the series but I still enjoyed the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This was a good crime-solving story. Some of the characters were likeable, but the main character keeps getting injured time and time again. I had a hard time really getting into the story. I did, however, like a twist at the end.

Other all time favorite series of mine to read and just get lost in. I loved how the author used the setting of the camp and how it felt like I was in one of the episodes of Criminal Minds, as well as the feeling that if you turn the other way your see Jason watching you. The case itself was complex , as well as full of danger, to the point that I was shouting in my head ,don't go back there. And the characters, wow I missed visiting with them and seen them work together, and I loved how closer Gav and Kaite are in this one, their not just partners, their family .
