An intriguing read and this is my honest review.
As much as I love a good Crime Fiction. This series is just not for me. I really wanted to enjoy it and have a read a few of them and it just did not work for me
I’m still shookt! That was a pleasant read. Looking forward to more from this author.
Cheers to Netgalley for the copy!
I really enjoyed this book. So many twists and turns. I had trouble guessing the culprit so unpredictability is a winner in my eyes. I cant wait to read more of these books in the series.
This is the sixth book in the Detective Casey White series and WOW just WOW, I was gripped from the getgo, this was an emotionally charged rollercoaster of a plotline, had me on the edge of my seat as thus far this series has, I can’t praise this series enough and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to sink their teeth into a new detective series.
Wonderful.Addictive. This series just keeps on getting better. I could not put this amazing book down. A masterful read. Can't wait for the next.
This is the sixth book in the series featuring Detective Casey White. I hadn’t read any of the previous books in the series but thought this read well as a stand-alone. Casey is called out when the body of a sixteen year old girl is found on the beach. On the informing the girl’s parents she discovers that her eight year old sister is also missing. On investigation Casey and her team realise that the girls had visited the local fair which had already left the town and discover that several more young girls have been murdered and also have been to the same fair. Is someone at the fair responsible for kidnap and murder? Casey and the team then have a race against time to discover the killer. This is a book with a well written plot and characters with twists and turns along the way. An enjoyable read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Book 6 in the Casey White series, i love this series and i am so glad i stumbled across it at the beginning of this year. If you haven't read books 1 to 5 then stop reading this review and pick up book 1 as i do feel it is needed to read the previous books.
Casey and the team are called to the beach the body of a teenage girl is found dead. When casey goes to break the news to the family she realises that their youngest daughter Shawna is also missing the strange thing is the parents never reported her missing. With her being so young the team are worried that she could be in even more danger, especially since the older sister was found dead. The problem they face is with so much on the line, the team are being met with lies from everyone. Question is whose ;and why?
I enjoyed this chapter of the series, i must say trying to work out what happened to the youngest sister and why the older one was killed was quite thrilling. i did guess part of the storyline but i didn't get the entire plot which was great. I found that once again i loved Casey and her haunt. Everytime there is a missing child it brings her straight back to her search for her little girl, even though she has now found her.
As per usual the structure of the narrative was well written and I was engaged throughout the story. I love the fact we get to follow the investigation as they do and trying to work out who is our bad guy and why was very thrilling, especially as everyone was lying about something, the parents, the neighbours and all others around them so trying to pick the truth from the lie made it even better. Like I said I did manage to guess the killer quite early on but the motive behind Shawna’s disappearance left me completely stumped and I found myself doubting everything I thought.
I thought the fact that Casey had found Hannah would make the storyline less interesting but it didn’t, the fact that we still get to go on the journey with them building their relationship and navigating the new world that they are in and how they fit in to each others lives. It is great because it's clearly not easy and the prose makes it very clear that it is difficult you can hear it in the text. Casey has looked for her daughter for so many years that now she has her what does she do? Hannah has a new name a new family and even a girlfriend and now she has her birth mum back. which in all honesty can be a bit sad to read but i am so glad they didn't write it as if everything worked out as easily as in reality that wouldn't happen. Sprangler writes so well i always feel like i am in the room.
In conclusion I would totally not only recommend the lighthouse girls but I would recommend the entire series. Detective Casey White is a great female lead and I love the fact that she has a heavy female team also. In this book we get to follow both her private and professional life. I also loved the fact that the prose is written in a way that keeps you guessing and also has you glued t the text. With twists and turns throughout the case it is very enthralling and I couldn’t put the book down, this is a page turner. I rate the lighthouse girls 3 stars.
Thanks to netgalley, bookouture and Quickly becoming a favourite author of mine B R Sprangler for the digital ARC of the lighthouse girls. Roll on book 7!!!!!!
A teenager is found dead on the beach and when Detective Casey White gives the terrible news to her parents she discovers their other daughter is missing. Has the killer abducted the girl or is she already dead...?
The Lighthouse Girls is the sixth book to feature Casey and her team. I have previously reviewed other books in this series but there are no spoilers about events in previous books. However, there is the continuation of Casey's personal life plotlines, in particular her abducted daughter.
The case is quite complicated as Casey uncovers information about the family of the dead and missing girls. The plot has many twists and turns which kept me guessing. I found the death and disappearance of such young girls to be hugely emotive and was willing Casey to succeed. The personal life of Casey plays a lesser role compared to other books.
There is a lot of forensic information in this book. However, the post mortem details are handled objectively so the emotion comes from Casey's response to what she sees. Almost all of the book is written from Casey's first person perspective which fully aligns us with her actions and emotions. The style of writing is easy to read and the plot develops at a reasonable pace.
The Lighthouse Girls is an enjoyable detective thriller.
Not what I expected, but very well done. Based on the blurb I thought the story was going one way, but I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle twist the story took. I like when you cannot figure out who the killer is until the reveal, which this story does very well. The last chapter left me bummed, don't worry it is not a cliff hanger. I just didn't get the outcome I wanted but was left with hope for the next book. Well done!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of The Lighthouse Girls by B.R. Spangler in exchange for an honest review. A teenage girl is found murdered and her 8 year old sister is missing. Detective Casey White is determined to find the little girl, are her adoptive parents involved or her birth parents? As more bodies turn up that appear to be connected to her case, the detective worries she may be too late.
I’m very happy to share my thoughts on The Lighthouse Girls as part of the book tour hosted by Bookouture. Thank you for my spot on the tour and for the advance copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first book by this author and while it is book six in the Detective Casey White series, it functions perfectly well as a standalone book. One girl found dead, and another missing, after visiting the fair. The pain, grief, and fear, experienced by Laura and Shauna’s parents was palpable and I suspect there may be a trigger or two here for any parents who have gone through similar.
Casey was a great character, obviously with more backstory than could realistically be included in these pages. I definitely want her on my side if I’m in trouble. Other characters Jericho and Tracey were equally relatable and credible.
Overall, this story kept me wanting to read more, and also kept me guessing all the way through. I enjoyed the read, and am happy to recommend this to anyone, with the caveat that perhaps you will enjoy it more if you read the series in order, if only for character development, backstory, and better context. I gave The Lighthouse Girls, by B. R. Spangler, four stars.
I think I just might have found myself a new series to read!
If it wasn't obvious already, The Lighthouse Girls is a page turner. The premise, with the mystery occurring right after the girls had visited a carnival, was what initially drew me in, but I definitely enjoyed the pace of the book and the mystery. Once the connections to prior unsolved murders occur, the idea of a serial killer really had me hooked, along with wondering if the detectives would put the clues together prior to another murder. I love Casey and Jericho together and as investigators and I have a lot of questions about several of her friends, so I'm already ready to read more.
The only (small) regret I have is that this is book 6 in the series. As much as I loved it, I really wish I had started from book 1. Much of the background given of Detective Casey White and her relationships seems to have been plot points in other books. I'm still definitely planning on reading them, but I think I would recommend reading these in order if you are a fan of book series. The definite plus is that this novel is the one that drew me to the series, so I've got 5 more books to read soon.

I love when I discovered new to me writers and their novels. The latest is this grasping detective investigation that held my attention till the last page.
This was my first book in the series, but it could be easily read as a standalone as we get a good understanding of the main character's past.
A teenage girl is found dead and her sister has gone missing after both of them attending a funfair in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The setting is really interesting to read about as usually we get more big cities plots, so this was a refreshing idea for me.
The investigation will bring out a few hidden secrets from this community and the interactions were interesting to read. The main character has a great relationship with her team and my understanding is that one of them is not always present for all the books, but it’s a big part of the story.
It’s suspenseful at times and had a lot of turns where I thought I knew where this is going to end. A perfect read for many readers of the genre.
That ending surely was very unexpected and left a huge opening for the next instalment.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy though NetGalley.
desperate to find the girls eight-year-old sister Shawna. No doubt notifying a family when they lose a child is devastating, Casey’s job was that much harder when they realize that Shawna is missing. At the scene of the crime, a lighthouse near a beach, items are located that show that Shawna was likely kept at the location where the body was found. Casey can’t help but ponder as to why Shawna is missing. Furthermore, if Shawna is still alive, will they get to her in time?
As the search intensifies Casey discovers that the girls attended a funfair in the village. Talking to as many people as possible, turning over every clue, alerts Casey that something similar has happened before and that rests in cold cases that go back years. Casey uses her skills and rugged determination to connect past events to what is going on now with sincere hopes of finding Shawna alive.
Although the suspect pool is quite large, solving this case proves to be quite challenging because the members of the community appear to be keeping secrets, and this undoubtedly makes Casey’s job that much harder. This is a remarkable series that I have been thoroughly enjoying. Although The Lighthouse Girls is the sixth book in a riveting series, it is a series that is written quite well to the point it can very easily be read as a standalone. However, for the sake of continuity and understanding a bit more about the dynamic between Casey and her team, reading the books in order might be very enjoyable. Don’t miss this thrilling book, one that will keep you turning pages late into the night.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

When I started this book I wasn't aware that this was the 7th book in a series. I didn't have any issues reading the book because of this but it does mean that I now want to go back and read the other six!
I did see that this book contains a spoiler for the earlier books, but given that I've not read them and it will probably be a couple of years before I get through all of them I don't think I'll remember enough detail for it to cause me a problem.
This was almost like two separate stories that ran parallel to each other and then collided, from the description you think you know roughly where it's going to go and you're wrong. It doesn't. With that said, you know early on how the 2 stories are related and it means we have 2 hunts on the go. This was brilliantly handled.
I highly recommend this book but think that you should also read the 6 books previous as well, just in case.
This author continues to deliver. As soon as I see #brspangler, I'm hooked! Love these characters - their community and connection - can't wait for the next!
Casey lands a case if 2 missing sisters - teenager found dead, washed up on shore. The younger still missing. The girls had attended a local fun fair- their adoptive parents working, their neighbor gives them a ride.
A detective joins the team - his niece attended the fun fair, same details regarding her death. Could they be connected?
Fast paced, excellent writing and suspense. A must read!
2 sisters missing end up missing after a fun evening at the funfair, one found dead and the youngest one, Shawna, missing. Kidnapping gone wrong? Missing child tugs at Casey’s heart, she knows the pain, …. With Tracey by her side, she searches to bring Shawna home.
Once again you will keep turning those pages …
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an early read in exchange for my opinion.
