Wow. This book was so good. It was completely unique and way different than anything I've read. I loved the completely different perspective.
James Carson is a serial killer. He has killed 3 different women and gotten away with it. The book is told from the alternating perspectives of his 3 victims who are now ghosts. They have to deal with their own deaths as well as try everything in their power to make sure justice is served.
I loved the story and particularly loved the way the author explained the afterlife. The last part of the book was definitely a thrill and I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen. Maybe my favorite read of the year so far!

OH MY GOD.

Ok picture it: three women, dead, murdered by the same man. Three women whose cases are unsolved. Three women stuck in limbo as ghosts. Three women who want the man who murdered them caught.

The story is told from all three POVs. We have Brecia, Meghan and Skye. Their stories don’t cross until later in the book but as I was reading I was engrossed in their stories. When they all finally “meet” it’s time for vengeance.

I had no idea what to expect from this book. I’ve never read a story quite like it. But I couldn’t stop reading. It was an easy read with short chapters (which is always a bonus for me). At one point I was holding my breath, waiting to see what would happen. Needless to say, this is a book you want to check out.

Thank you to @netgalley and @noelleihliauthor for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

this was an incredible, haunting read. it was written beautifully and the idea of past victims banding together as ghosts/spirits to help the most recent victim to solve their own murder completely moved me. it was a ghost story, a thriller, a book about friendship and love all in one. i was on the edge of my seat reading the ending and hoping for a positive ending for all the characters and i’m so glad they each got one. would highly recommend this if it’s your cup of tea.

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC copy of Ask For Andrea.

This was an interesting concept.
I never read a story when the main 3 characters are dead (ghosts) 👻 and they are searching for their killer and a chance to give him some payback.

I had no idea what I was getting into with this book - what I thought was just an interesting idea turned into a story that will stick with me for a long, long time. The briefest summary: three young women who were murdered by the same man tell us the story of what happens after they die. I thought it started out a little slow, but then I couldn't but it down and I finished it in one afternoon.

What I most appreciated was how delicately each murder and victim (or potential victim) was described. Ihli respected the victims, she didn't blame them or romanticize the crimes. The women in the story represent every woman, and it was important (and emotional) to hear their side. At the same time, it was a thrilling read that didn't feel too heavy.

My one criticism was that the writing styles/voices for each POV were too similar, so I sometimes couldn't remember whose chapter I was reading.

I highly recommend this book. Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you're into crime or the paranormal, this is definitely a must read.

The "fly on the wall" perspective that comes from the main characters being ghosts was so fun and unlike anything that I've ever read before. That alone makes this book a standout to me.

I also found the mechanics of the ghosts to be a fresh take (how they move about, what they are able to do, etc).

The author does a great job with conveying the frustrations of being a ghost as well. There's no afterlife 101 class to explain this stuff to you when you die. Seeing the characters' confusion and frustration at their limitations was very genuine.

One of the things that kept taking me out of the book was that the main dating app referenced and used by the killer throughout the book was called MatchStrike (a clear Tinder riff that made me roll my eyes). That being said, I'm glad I pushed past my initial skepticism after reading that name.

My only real complaint is that the timeline was a bit difficult to follow at the beginning, with each of the 3 perspectives starting at a different time (2 years ago, 1 year ago, present). It was easy to get lost in time as we wait for the storylines to catch up with one another.

TWs for depictions of murder, rape, drugging.

received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review - thank you!

I really wanted to love this book because the idea is brilliant, honestly. I was thrilled about the ghost stuff and I really liked how we got to experience the different facets of grief and the murder. But it was poorly executed and terribly repetitive.

Also the pacing and timing were off since the author senselessly jumped between timelines and accidentally told things twice. That was annoying for me as reader because I really just wanted the story to carry on.
The problem with the ghost aspect for me was, that they knew everything but couldn’t tell anyone. I liked that in the beginning but as it carried on it got very frustrating to read and at around 50% I just wanted to get it over with. I was promised a “gripping psychological thriller” but well … I wasn’t served one. We knew everything from the very beginning and just worked it up until the end and meh, that was not it. I really hoped there would come a new shocking reveal along the way that would turn the story around but nope, it never came.

All in all I’m really sad to say that this was a very mediocre thriller. Very good idea but wasted in bad execution.

I love thrillers, but sometimes I get a bit bored with the typical story (serial killer murders woman, a female detective tries to track him down). Ask for Andrea changes this basic story enough that I was really intrigued by what would come next.

Three different women were killed by an awful person. When the three of them found each other as ghosts, they decided to team up to take him down. Yet, there was very little they could actually do. Their frustrations are understandable, as are their fears that he’ll kill his wife and kids next.

I won’t tell you what happens, but I will say that it was a very satisfying ending. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC. This review contains my honest, unbiased opinion.

A creepy serial killer thriller from the perspective of his very dead, very angry victims. Ask for Andrea by Noelle W. Ihli looks at all aspects of murder, from the act to the aftermath, incorporating varied feminine expieriences from across racial, religious, and socio-economic divides. However, it lacks the dynamic vocabulary I expect from a novel so emotionally wrought, and therefore lands itself somewhere around “good” as opposed to “great.”
As a narrative, this story is incredibly successful. The plot is unpredictable and darkly imaginative as it attempts to speculate on the thoughts and feelings of the victims in ghostly existences seeking justice and peace. I loved how each of the three women had their own unique reaction to death. One choosing to vengefully follow the killer, another to stand vigil over her body, and a third to seek the comfort of family she could no longer reach. Each instance was heartbreaking in its own unique way, and forces the reader to recognize the various ways in which justice can both fail and triumph in regards to intersectionality.
My only real issue with the book is something that permeates the entire novel, and that is the language. If I was to describe it simply, I would say it is monotonous, almost textbook. There was no emotional affectation in the writing to reflect the emotional state of the plot or characters, and as such it felt a little flat. Essentially, because the writing wasn’t dynamic, the rage of the protagonists felt muffled and didn’t come across as succinctly as it should have.
Ultimately, I would still say Ask for Andrea is a good read and I would still recommend it, but it didn’t blow me out of the water.

Okay, this was fun!

I’m always a little hesitant when your main characters are dead ones. It normally removes a little bit of the suspense for me…normally. Not in this case. This is incredibly suspenseful!

Our victims are strong and determined and I simply loved them! As for our killer? Ooh…I wanted very bad things to happen to him.

The storytelling is good here – the author does an excellent job of drawing out the tension, even in some scenes where you *know* what’s about to happen.

An excellent thriller!

This was a good read! It was the first book I remember reading from the perspective of murdered victims. The story follows a few women who had been murdered and how they died. They follow the killer and find each other. The book gives an interesting take of what happens to a person who has unfinished business when they die. I will be reading other books by this author.

This is my first official read by @noelleihliauthor and I can sincerely say it won’t be my last! I actually have The Thicket on my TBR shelf and will be bumping it up after how much I enjoyed this one.

Our story is told from three different female POVS- Meghan, Brecia, and Skye’s. All of these women may be “victims,” and are already dead, but they are determined to prevent their murderer from repeating his crimes after their own deaths.

This story has a mix of a thriller, family drama, and mystery elements. It had multiple strong female characters, and I was really happy with how everything came together in the end!

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for providing me with a free ecopy to honestly review!

This is just a personal preference, I am not a fan of multiple point of views. I get the point of views mixed up from time to time. I did enjoy the revenge after death, haunting their killer. If you want a fast read, multiple povs and revenge you will enjoy this book. Just be aware of triggers and look at those before you read.

There's getting to the point and then there's Asking for Andrea. Usually, it's the first chapter that gets you up to speed with what a book is going to be about, but it was quite literally the first sentence of Noelle Ihli's sophomore novel that gets you up to speed. There is no messing about and I appreciate it.

I went into this book thinking that we would be following James through this story, but words can't express how happy I am that that was not the case, and instead, we follow his three victims; Meghan, Brecia, and Skye. I don't think that I've ever read a book that follows this kind of narrative in the sense that all of the main characters are on the other side, but I can easily say that I enjoyed it, and it was such an immersive read.

I'm looking forward to looking into this author's other work!

(Will update with blog and social posts when live)

When I started this book, I figured it would be like most other 'ghosts who seek revenge on their killer' books. Wow, I was so wrong. I read the entire book in less than 4 hours. I couldn't put it down. (I'm a super fast reader.)

Murder victims Meghan, Skye and Brecia were murdered by handsome James Carson who used a dating app to lure women and then murdered them in cold blood. Their ghosts remain. Each woman has their own voice and you get to follow them from meeting James, to being killed and accepting what happened to trying to keep it from happening to others.

This was an absolute amazing read. The idea of heaven presented in this book was beautiful. I hope that the author keeps writing books like this. Again, amazing.

This was a very interesting concept for a book. I found myself racing through it to get finished. I was totally caught up in the stories of Skye, Meghan and Brecia as they haunted James. I liked seeing the story from each POV. I can't wait to read Noelle's other book "The Thicket"

Noelle West Ihli has a new fan in me. Grab a copy of this book as soon as you can - coming out April 15th 2022!!

What if murder victims could band together and make it their afterlife’s goal to haunt their killer?

That’s exactly what Brecia, Meghan, and Skye do to the man who killed them in cold blood. These girls are determined not to let him murder another woman.

When I read the blurb for this story, I was immediately intrigued. I love a whodunit and I love a serial killer story, but this one seemed different. It felt fresh because it centered on the victims, their voices, their ability to make the murderer’s life hell. I was not disappointed!

The story is told from the three perspectives of the girls. It was easy to follow along and tell who was narrating, which I appreciated.

“Ask for Andrea” is a full-throttle thriller that’ll demand to be read in one sitting. If you’re able to put it down, you have more self-control than I do, friend. I absolutely had to find out what happened next. There are zero frustrating gimmicks or tricks that can sometimes plague thriller novels. Just a solid story that drives hard until the end.

Five stars!

“Ask for Andrea” comes out on April 15, but you can pre-order it right now. (And you totally should.)

Thanks to NetGalley and XpressoTours for an advance copy of this book!

Thank you to all those involved in the process of sharing this book with me in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book and I’m so glad I read it - it forced me to acknowledge the many cases of murders that have been left unsolved. Ask for Andrea connects the book with readers because the issues addressed are ones that are mentioned but never fully explained. Nobody knows what they are going to do in those situations and I appreciate that Ask for Andrea has truly allowed me to understand that.
I read this book in one sitting. I wanted justice for every person James had targeted. I wanted their families to have closure and I wanted April and her children to be safe.
There are many triggers in this book so please check before reading and if you find yourself comfortable to - read this book.

Absolutely great book! I don’t want to give anything away about the plot but this book is mostly a thriller. It absolutely starts fast pace from the first page and doesn’t stop until the end of the book. And I never saw the ending coming so that’s a win!

On a date that isnt going well? Ask for Andrea at the bar.

I got an advanced copy of this book and couldnt wait to read it. I just randomly stumbled upon it and I’m sad there isnt more buzz about it yet.

The book starts off with 3 different women in 3 different time periods, 2 years ago, 1 year ago and now. All of these women were murdered by the same man. For me Meghans story was the best out of the 3 girls, but they were all great in their own way. Honestly this book pulled me in from the first page and kept me hooked throughout. I finished it in one day. The only tiny issue I have is in 2 parts of the book the author repeated something she previously said almost word for word which kind of ruined the flow for me. But that was a tiny issue and this is 100% a 5 start book. I dont want to spoil this book for anyone so I wont say any more about the plot but trust me when I say its AMAZING.

Ask for Andrea comes out on April 15, 2022 and I hope everyone reads this book at least once.
