Ahhh, I'm feeling so emotional right now. I've been dreaming of Idhun getting translated into English for YEARS and I'm still not losing hope that the books will get translated, too, because Idhun is the best.
The comic is pretty text heavy but as I love the Idhun books, I loved how well the comics followed it. It's a great adaptation (as is the Netflix series and no one will convince me otherwise).
I don't know what to say, I'm just emotional. I love this world and these characters and I'm so glad to have found the eARC on Read Now on NetGalley, I really needed the comfort and distraction of one of my favourite fictional worlds. I've been considering reread but going through the massive volumes in German again is daunting (my German isn't all that great bit for Idhun I embraced it to keep on reading the story - only the first volume was translated into Polish).
I'm so so happy this comic will be out in English soon and here's to hoping that the books will get translated, too!
*Thank you NetGalley for the eARC! *
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for letting me read this advance copy in exchange for an honest review!
First of all, I have been seen this book in the literary world for years and now I think I got to experience it in one of the coolest ways: as a graphic novel.
The story is pretty simple. Boy loses everything and ends up in another world, full of magic and danger. I think the plot is what makes this so easy to read. It gets you from the beginning. And the art is very clear and cute so It's not hard to follow.
I love books where the main character gets taken to a magic land and stars discovering they belong there and they are special but didn't know it.
I'm maybe a little bit older for it but I would recommend this book to any young reader who is starting to get into graphic novels.
(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)
Synopsis: Jack, a teenager from Earth, has a dire premonition...something is wrong; however, he cannot imagine the change he will experience in his life when he gets back home. He finds his parents dead and is transported by two mysterious strangers to a magical world. Together with Victoria, he will start a fight of unexpected proportions. Their fate will be inexorably linked to the Resistance, a small group fighting for the freedom of a world called Idhún. Will he be able to restore the lost peace?
I read this books when I was a child and I had a really good experience reading the same story as a comic. I love the drawings, is easy to read and I think is a great option if you want to start reading in English. Enjoy it! Here, waiting for the next one :)
