A clear 5 star read from Emily Henry! I loved Book Lovers and it’s characters. I could hardly put it down and highly recommend! This book had a bit of everything- humour, heart ache and romance. Thank you for the ARC!

She’s done it again. Fully convinced that Emily Henry has ruined me for any and all future romance books not written by her. Started with Beach Read where I thought it could well be a fluke that this debut author who came out of nowhere could be a new auto buy author, then You and Me on Vacation came along and the fluke theory was out the window and I deduced that Henry is just a very damn good author. Then Book Lovers came out and I thought, “surely she can’t smash it out of the park THREE times in a row?” And then I read it and my current view is that Emily Henry must be some kind of extra terrestrial because I swear Book Lovers is my dream romance book and I didn’t even know it until I picked it up? The whole way through I thought there would have to be SOMETHING, ONE thing about this book that I thought “eh I wish that was different” or “not too hot on that part” but no. This book was… perfection. I’m not even exaggerating like I genuinely cannot fault a single thing??? I loved it with my whole heart. I swear Emily Henry just gets me and now I’m rambling but the comedy? Perfect! The romance? Epic! Faultless. FAULT. LESS.

A disclaimer that this is my first Emily Henry novel and probably not my last.

In short: fun, quick and feelgood in most parts.

Now on to the deep dive!

This is marketed as an enemies to lovers trope.. But I could not really see it, especially since they eventually do something in the first 15% of the book! I did not mind too much but just putting out there for those who would dislike that turn of events.

Things I enjoyed

- I must admit it. I LOVED the banter between these two. It was witty, fast, with book references but not too many to make it unapproachable or distant. I did laugh out lot in some parts which does not happen often! So big YES for that!

- The intimate scenes Need I say more? :D

- How quick and natural it felt to be immersed in Henry's world.

- The glimpses of the publishing industry!

Things I needed more of

- More of Charlie Lastra! I do not feel we got to know him all that well apart that he is smart and with some issues regarding his origins. It would have been GREAT if we got to see his perspective; I think it would have given so much more to his character without changing the bits we already read in this book.

- More of Charlie's family! We just get glimpses of them and instead told that they are sweet, caring etc.

- More of the project Libby is working on!

Things I disliked

- Ok so there is a twist (dont worry I will not say what it is).. BUT! it felt underwhelming and although I would not mind that much since I was having fun with the book anyway, but what it happening is INACCURATE. and since there is soooooo. much misinformation around that topic, it is exhausting and frankly disheartening to see it being portrayed falsely in 2022. Feel free to reach out and talk to me about it cause god knows I need to vent about it. AND it cost the book at least one star.

- the second half of the book? not that great compared to the first, I would love to see more of these two doing what they were doing in more details (and I am not talking about sex haha).

Overall, I had fun with it up until the twist (sorry not sorry) and I definitely see why the author is so popular!

This the second Emily Henry book that I have read and this was just as good as the first one. A great read for book lovers and bookaholics!

Nora is a literary agent and she takes her exhausted younger sister away for a break to the setting of her favourite book, Sunshine Falls. Here she runs into her rival agent Charlie, who is working at the local bookstore; this is the only place that Nora can get wifi in the village and she is surprised when she meets Charlie.

Although away for some time with her sister, Nora has to keep up to date with her work and therefore spends more and more time in the bookshop, clashing with Charlie. But it soon becomes apparent the attraction between them both and they start to collaborate on their work.

Their relationship changes throughout the book as does the sisterly bond strengthen, as Nora finds out things may not be too good in her sister's marriage.

The characters are great in this book and you'll find yourself racing through the book to discover how it all ends.

Great 4 star read and I look forward to Emily's next book.

Another great read from Emily Henry. It took me a while to get going for me but once it did I really enjoyed the romance.
Warm, very funny and with great characters, this would be perfect to read whilst on holiday.

I have loved both books I have read by Emily Henry (beach read) and I cannot wait to read people you meet on vacation as well. The writing is addictive, the characters and plot are so well thought out. This is chick lit but with an edge and a quirk. I love the fact that this is a book about people who love books, there's something so magical about the description used in this book and the characters are so vivid and have so much personality you can imagine them in real life. I love that the characters in the beginning are so different to the end but only because you grow to know and love them. I really hope this is made into a film or TV series one day!

Like all previous Emily Henry books, I loved this!

I really enjoy her style of writing and the obvious chemistry between the lead characters.

This is an amusing tale, romantic, sexy and feel-good.

Can't wait for the next one!

Thank you Netgalley and Penguin for the advanced copy of this book.

Pros:
- I really like Emily Henry's writing style. I find it very easy to read
- The sibling relationship. As an older sister I related to quite a few of the scenes and dynamics in the book. And I really liked seeing this relationship develop.
- The mixture between cute romance and more hard-hitting themes

Cons:
- I liked the romance but I think it could have been stronger. The characters went from very quickly not liking each other to finding the other almost irresistible.
- I struggled to warm up to our main character. I get why she is the way she is but I preferred the MC in Emily Henry's other 2 romances.

Unfortunately this is my least favourite of Emily Henry's romances. For whatever reason I didn't have quite the same attachment to this romance compared to the previous 2. (despite still enjoying it) Will definitely read whatever Emily Henry puts out next though.

What an absolutely amazing read!

The sad moments in this read are perfectly balanced with the lighter ones, which I needed when I picked up this book.

I fell in love more with the sister bond between Nora and her sister than I did with Nora and Charlie - who knows why!!! I could tell that the two really loved each other; they just needed to communicate more and work on their issues (relatable).

The book itself is everything you want an Emily Henry book to be. A breath of fresh air is blown through you at every moment within this book. From ambitious Nora to discovering that Charlie is the other half of her and what becomes of that, you just know that Henry will hold your hand through it all.

I give this book five stars.

This book is everywhere so I was excited to be given an ARC in exchange for a review. Book lovers was my first Emily Henry and it did not disappoint. Nora and Charlie both work in publishing, one as a literary agent and one as an editor. I loved being able to read about working in this field.
The setting is the small town of Sunshine Falls, which is very atmospheric. I really liked the positive relationship between the two sisters.
The only thing that annoyed me sometimes was the way Nora felt responsible for everything in Libby’s life, to the point that she gave up on her own dreams.

I work in a library and we don’t have any Emily Henry books yet (also because there are few Dutch translations) but we have ordered the English version of Book Lovers now!

Huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of Book Lovers, it was one of my most anticipated reads this year so I’m very grateful I got to read an advanced copy of this book.

“Is there anything better than iced coffee and a bookstore on a sunny day? I mean, aside from hot coffee and a bookstore on a rainy day.”

Nora Stephens' life is books, she’s read them all, and she is not that type of heroine. The only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved sister Libby. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina, for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away. But Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

I’m not sure what it is about small town vibes in books but I just love them and Book Lovers is no different. I adored the setting in this one, the hallmark movie worthy side characters and Emily Henry’s writing style!

The sister relationship was by far my favourite thing about this book. I really loved the family backstory behind Nora and Libby and their mum! As someone who is super close to her sister, this was so touching and lovely to read. Also… the constant bookish references made me heart so happy 🥰❤️

I really liked our main character Nora who is a fierce heroine that does not apologise for life goals and ambition as well as conversations on grief.

Unfortunately, I just didn’t really care about the romantic aspect of the book. I didn’t dislike Charlie but I just wasn’t overly interested in him. I will admit they had great banter, and some of their witty responses to each other were great.

Overall, I did really like this one but You and Me On Vacation remains my number one favourite so far!

(Rounded up to 4 for this but I have rated it 3.5 on my blog).

I absolutely adored this book! This will be one of those books that I revisit time and time again when I feel like I need to escape to a small town. This had the perfect balance of humour, sarcasm, steaminess and depth - All while the characters are growing and working through life challenges. Henry did a perfect job with the relationships in this book. It was so nice to see well developed and thoughtful relationships between all the characters that made sense. I haven't laughed and cried so much at the same book in a while. This may be Emily Henry's finest book yet and I can't wait to pick up a finished copy!

My copy was provided in advance by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Another one of my anticipated reads of the year, I went into this one expecting a nice light romcom only to find so much more. My goodness the way it made me feel by the end is so hard to describe.

I can say with all certainty that I absolutely loved this book, it was worth the anticipation.

I loved the bond between the sisters, their almost undoing and then the way they found their way back to each other.

Oh and that moment in the bookshop on their mothers birthday was a moment that grabbed hold of my heart!

I really enjoyed Beach Read so jumped at the chance to read this one and it doesn’t disappoint. The main characters are both in the “book business”, an editor and an agent who at first sight hate each other. Fast forward to the classic “will they, won’t they” and an adorable book with some great lessons. There’s a fair bit of soul searching and learning to love and live again, which just adds to this brilliant read.
Fans of Emily won’t be disappointed.

Emily Henry has rapidly become one of my favourite authors over the last few years. I'm not super into the romance genre at large but I will dip my toes in every now and again for a contemporary romance and it's in this very specific mood reading zone that I've fallen hard for Henry's writing.

Book Lovers is more than just your typical romance. It's also a love letter to the magic of books, small towns AND city life.

As for the pairing, I loved Nora and Charlie. It's not quite as enemy-to-lovers as the synopsis might have you believe. I'd argue it's more misunderstood acquaintances to lovers? The banter between them is playful and fun but the actual relationship was emotionally mature.

Henry does a great job, as always, at weaving in character's traumas and hardships that they need to work through within the book which means she always delivers main characters that you deeply care and root for.

All in all, it was a fantastic read that I cannot recommend highly enough. It has all the things I loved about Henry's previous books with its own charms thrown into the mix.

This book was just so incredibly sweet! Charlie and Nora were such an amazing couple and I loved their back and forth banter, it was so witty and fun and made me fall in love with the two of them. It was so interesting to watch them go from 'enemies' to working together, and seeing the way that they work together on their project and how they start to blend seamlessly into almost one through their work.

This book was such a fun insight into romance books and their tropes, and I love that Libby wrote a list for the two of them and everything they wanted to achieve so that they could live their own romantic fairy tales! It almost parodies the cliches of this genre but in such a fun way that also helps us to embrace them and the romance genre as a whole, which I really enjoyed!

The characters felt so real and fleshed out and I loved the will they won't they aspect to Charlie and Nora that kept you satisfied throughout but constantly wanting more, especially when you knew how it was likely going to turn out. It was really interesting to watch Nora and the way she started to question and critique the way she'd always lived her life and to see that there was more out there.

It did feel a bit insta lovey, but if you don't mind that then this book is definitely something I'd recommend. It was heart-warming with some great spicy scenes, and I absolutely love Charlie and Nora, I think they're perfect together!

Book Lovers is an easy romantic read. It will appeal to readers of the genre but not really my cup of tea. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

I had such fun reading this! I liked but didn't love Emily Henry's Beach Read - it was one of those books whose premise was a lot better than its execution for my personal taste. Book Lovers' premise was again amazing, so I decided to pick it up despite my experience with Beach Read, and this did not disappoint! My favorite things about it was the banter. It was just so fun, sexy and made me laugh out loud, giggling in a bus on my way to work at seven thirty in the morning. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters so, so much. I do wish the sister storyline had been dealt a bit differently, their relationship made me SO stressed - I have a sister myself and can't fathom behaving towards her the way Libby and Nora did. So if this was not part of the book, it would easily have been a 5 star. As it was, their relationship stressed me out too much for me to fully enjoy the book. The story also lost a bit of steam on the second half, but the first half was so strong I decided to give this four stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Publishers and Emily Henry for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Nora and Charlie both work in the publishing book industry. However, they do not get on, at all. Until a spur of the moment trip away aligns their paths.

This is a delightful little romantic-comedy. It is hilarious yet heart-wrenching. I’ve always been a fan of Emily’s books and this does not disappoint. The characters are loveable and the plot is just brilliant. Emily has a unique talent for writing these novels where you end up so invested in the characters. This is perfect for a summer romance read. Loved it!

Unfortunately this one missed a mark a bit for me.
I honestly thin that Emily Henry peaked with Beach Read and everything after is just watered down more-or-less the same story.
The writing is decent, but the characters are borderline unlikable and the whole story is straight from Hallmark Lifetime movie.
