This is actually one of the best romance books to ever be written. I'm convinced that I'll read anything Emily Henry writes. I like how her books not only focus on the romantic relationship but also on characters' struggles which makes it easier to connect to them. Everyone should read this book.
Ah, I had such a blast reading Emily Henry's new book Book Lovers, I think it's might favourite of hers yet!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I enjoyed the way she played with common romance tropes, especially the work rivals/hate to love trope as they didn't hate each other for a crazy long time for no reason and they had great banter when they were "enemies" and also when they became friends - if you love banter, Emily Henry is so great at writing it! 📚
I could definitely read more of these characters, it was such a great time 📖
Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for providing me with the eARC!
It took me a while to get into but I really enjoyed Book Lovers. It's a really nice romance. I'd definitely recommend it for a nice summerly read.
Emily Henry never disappoints! Another amazing book from her and her writing is perfect as always. This is only the third book by her that I’ve read, but it is safe to say that she is one of my favourite romance authors.
The storyline of this book was absolutely amazing. The love interest was perfect and the way that the main character and her love interest fit together was so cute! They were so great together and complemented each other in the best way possible.
The whole relationship between the main character and her sister was adorable. I loved how important that part was in the book. This wasn’t only a love story where the protagonist gets the guy and lives happily ever after, but a story about love in all kinds of ways. The love to her sister, her nieces, her brother-in-law, the city where she lives, her job and last but not least the love interest!
The only thing I felt like I really needed in this book compared to Beach Read and People We Meet On Vacation was the summer vibe. It mentioned in the book that it is set during the summer and it is warm, but I still don’t get a real summer vibe from the book.
It was a perfect romance book and I know that I will definitely buy it and read it again a couple of times. If you love Emily Henry or just a great love story I recommend you do the same!
Emily Henry has done it again - another 100% success that I could not put down. Honestly, Emily Henry is an absolute master at writing banter and this book was her best example of that to date. Perfection!
It’s been a month since I finished this book and I still can’t find the words to explain how much I enjoyed it and why.
A book about two bookish main characters, with lots of discussion of tropes and references to literature? Of course I was going to have a great time reading it!
The chemistry, banter and quick witted conversations between the two main characters were brilliant. I’m a fan of enemies to lovers and this book did the trope well.
I’m not much of a rereader but I received a digital copy of this via NetGalley and I’m eager to do a reread when I have my preordered physical copy in my hands.
4 stars. We can always count on Emily Henry to engage us beautifully in her characters and stories. Nora and Charlie started off on the wrong foot but ended up creating a beautiful connection, but mostly, for me, the story was about family. I adored watching Nora relationship with her sister progress into something way more healthy and honest, and Charlie healing his relationship with his father. The romance was just a positive ad-on for me :)

Oh My God!!!
Who on earth was going to tell me that I could fall so deeply in love with a book. When i first got my hands on this book, never having read Emily Henry's books i did not know what to expect. But this book filled me with joy, sadness and several tears were shed.
When it comes to Nora, the initial set up made me assume that she'd be an unlikeable character but as soon as the reader gets to know her, they cant help but relate to her. As an individual who has gone through a similiar situation, I truly know what it feels like to have to care for others.
Nora and Libby's Relationship as sisters is truly the sweetest and most joyful thing ever.
Finally Charlie and Nora. I don't really believe in the concept of soulmates but these two are the definition of soulmates. They support each other, comfort each other, lacking all the toxic qualities that other authors tend to romanticise.
Thank you for sending me this book!
Book Lovers has all the components of a classic romance. An ambitious but conflicted lead, an attractive but challenging love-interest, a ‘will they, won’t they?’ storyline, and a family-bonding trip to get away from it all. Funny and heart-warming, this book is ideal for the beach or the pool this summer.
This review isn't going to make me any friend because as much as I was desperate to, I simply did not like this. The characters didn't leap off the page and to be honest kind of unlikeable. I didn't buy the setting either. Just all around not for me. Sorry
Book Lovers by Emily Henry is one of my new favourite books. EH always manages to outdo herself and I'm not sure how since every single book I've read, I've immediately fallen in love.
Charlie and Nora are two characters I immediately related to and just wanted to give hugs to. Watching Nora be there for her sister and do everything in her power to make sure she's happy despite what it meant for herself, makes her so strong in my eyes.
Charlie just being handcrafted so perfectly for Nora, I was in tears. The way they understood each other so well and all they really needed was each other. I love them both so much and I wish the book never ended.
EMILY HENRY NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!!! another book i absolutely adored; the plot, the characters, the everything. absolutely loved it, its a must read!
I’m really happy that I received “Book Lovers” (and not just because I’m a book lover myself). After having read “People We Meet on Vacation”, I was pretty excited to read another Emily Henry book and this one did not disappoint – in fact, I would say that I liked it even better.
“Book Lovers” is a charming story about a book agent called Nora who’s already decided that she’s not meant to play the nice heroine in the story of her life. She sees herself more like the city bitch that usually gets dumped in romantic movies, and she just plays along with it. When her sister convinces her that the two of them should take a month-long trip to Sunshine Falls, the location of a bestseller written by one of Nora’s clients, she’s very reluctant, but ultimately agrees, just to make her beloved sister happy. The big surprise is that in Sunshine Falls she bumps into the person she’s least expecting – her own male version, an arrogant city book editor, turned Nora’s rival over his dislike of the very book that takes place in Sunshine Falls.
The story was pretty simple and straightforward, with whimsical descriptions of both the charming Sunshine Falls, and New York, as seen through the loving eyes of Nora, and cute and funny encounters between the characters.
What really won me over, though, was the character development. Both of the main characters, Nora and Charlie, were very well written and completely changed my expectations and views of them over the course of the book. There were no grandiose moments to change their personalities overnight, but rather, the story gave them the space to show many of the layers that they had from the very beginning, but to which the readers could become privy only by following the events which triggered Nora and Charlie to show more of themselves to each other and not only to grow to understand each other better, but even their on selves.
I can definitely say that Emily Henry knows how to write people, and make them both believable and realistic, which I rarely say about authors in general.
Book Lovers is the ideal summer read and just perfect for sitting in the sun with a G&T. It’s lighthearted and fun and has many of the popular romance tropes we have come to love, however the author does switch it up a little bit and puts her own spin on the small town romance trope. Nora is a city girl who hates the countryside, a workaholic who is only interested in focusing on her career. She takes a rejuvenating and bonding trip to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina, with her sister and whilst there Libby has compiled a fun check list of things to do, including wearing a flannel shirt, dating a local and skinny dipping. The setting isn’t your usually glamorous location, the town is a little run down and in need of a facelift and the book shop is the only place with Wi-Fi. Sunshine Falls is the last place Nora wants to be and the complete opposite of all the home comforts she’s used to.
The romance is superbly done, the sexual tension between Nora and Charlie is palpable and I loved the way the author brought this across with sometimes nothing more than a secretive look or accidental touch. Their relationship isn’t rushed and builds up slowly over time with some excellent conversation and witty banter and my heart exploded every time they interacted. I couldn’t get enough of them together.
The storyline has depth and some serious issued are addressed such as loss and grief. There is an underlying emotional storyline and after her mother’s death Nora was completely dedicated to looking after her sister, to the point of missing some amazing career opportunities to look after her. Nora is quite a deep and complex character but has a wonderful lighter side and her internal monologue and thought processes are hilarious. This novel has a strong sense of family on the sides of both protagonists.
I enjoyed the wit and humour, the writing is brilliant and there are many quotable sentences and one-liners. I definitely need to re-read this book in case there are any I missed! Book Lovers is a funny and emotional read with a lovely cast of characters and, of course, who can resist a book about books. I’ve read and enjoyed all Emily Henry’s books and this one was no exception.
Thank you to the publisher for the eARC for review.
Nora is an ambitious, razor-focussed literary agent whose sister drags her along for a holiday in the North Carolina mountains, where she collides with professional nemesis Charlie Lastra. The fact that you already have a good guess what happens in no way detracts from the sharp, snappy appeal of this novel – a perfect holiday read, even if you aren't going to Sunshine Falls.

Ahhhh, another winner for me! Omg I just loved this book so much.
I loved the settings. I loved the characters. The small town and all its people. The plot!!! The relationship. Ugh everything was so good. And omg the emotions. I swear I cried for the last 20-30% bc family situations always get to me.
But omg the ending was perfect!!! I did not want it to enddd. I’m obsessed with these two.
Unfortunately not for me. I hated the main character and could not relate to her one little bit. Thought she was a bit ridiculous
I have Emily Henry's ''Beach Read' is on my TBR but I was given the opportunity to receive an advanced copy of 'Book Lovers' and I was immediately taken by the writing style, plot and characters.
'Book Lovers' is the story of Nora Stephens, a literary agent, whose world comprises of her sister Libby and her job; putting her heart and soul into looking for the for the potential in authors whilst reviewing their work.
When Libby plans a getaway trip to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina and begs Nora to join her for some much needed quality time and an accompanying bucket list to check off, she hesitantly agrees, wondering how best to balance the two loves of her life, her sister and her work. Whilst there, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute....but where the saying goes "opposites attract", is it just because they are so similar that they can't get along?
As they are thrown together again and again in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow - what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.
Based on this book, I can't wait to read the rest of what Emily Henry has to offer! This was a pleasing and easy read, book lovers everywhere can relate and lose themselves within the throes of the backstory set in the world of book publishing and editing. I loved the description of the small town locales of Sunshine Falls, there is a sense of escapism too, with the cafe, pawnshop, diner and Goodes' bookstore - there is beauty that transpires in a perspective and you feel you want to go along for the ride, just to experience something a bit different to the hustle and bustle of New York. I enjoyed that the book looked to tackle difficult subjects, death of parents, mental health, loneliness, also refreshing to read about relationships where people don't want children, and ultimately the motivational message for women who "want it all" and going about making that happen.
Nora's equation with Libby is fuelled with love but also fierce protectiveness that was well presented in the book and you could feel the connection between them and Nora's struggle and conviction to want to fix everything and be there for her. I loved Charlie's character and I would also look forward to the conversations and chemistry between the two protagonists, the energy felt raw and revitalising, a different sort of love from others, an understanding and bonding between them like no other, the ability to agree and disagree and respect each other's opinion. The supporting characters allowed the book to flow at a reasonable pace and keep the story interesting. There were some beautiful moments, I especially loved the conversation I wasn't expecting to see between Nora and Clint. A great romance read after a long time which dealt with sensitive topics with depth that was needed and touched heartstrings! Beautiful!
It felt like taking the first sip of a hot drink or experiencing the embrace of a loved one after I finished reading the epilogue. I wouldn't say anything in particular was a con in this read - for me it was 4.5 stars/5 but I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Thank you @NetGalley @PenguinGeneralUK for an advanced readers copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
What I love most about Emily Henry is her writing style and authorial voice. Her books have a real page turning quality and pull you in. The story between Nora and her sister and how they reach this point in their lives was richly done. Sibling relationships are rarely shown in books which people think of as romance, and it was so well done here. The slow burn romance was also well done but a tiny bit flat for me, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
I loved this so much and I’m not surprised because I adore everything Emily Henry writes. I was so lucky and fortunate enough to receive an arc of this book, thank you to the publishers. I thought the characters, plot and relationships were perfect
