Oh my God.My new favourite read EVER!Absolute perfection. There is not one single thing I would change about this book. It exceeded my hopes and expectations and then some.Emily knocked it out of the park with this one.
I wish I could forget that I read this book and read it all over again.
so so so good ....12/10 !
thank you again for the arc.kindly appreciated!
Emily Henry has done it again.
Book Lovers is your next obsession. A perfectly crafted romance book with all the elements to keep you flipping the pages nonstop.
Meet Nora Stephens, the opposite of your traditional romance protagonist. She is tough as nails, career-focused, and hasn't cried in 10 years. In a common trope, she is the one the hero leaves before finding his true match - a slightly awkward and bubbly lead who loves to bake. Charlie Lastra has the energy and vibe of a modern-day vampire dressed in Tom Ford, wrapped up in a package of true wit and charming smirks.
What truly works in Book Lovers is how the story itself has many layers, all converging into the delightful story of how Nora and Charlie fall in love. In some ways, they are passers-by occupying Sunshine Falls and living their life through the quirky locals, and the list Libby (Nora's sister) made. Each step of the plot moves them forward and closer together until it's unacceptable to think about them as anything other than true soulmates. The balanced pacing gives you enough information to keep you interested until the end when every single thread comes together.
Book Lovers has a heavy dose of grief, and an interesting analysis of how we perceive ourselves through the lenses of pop culture. Therefore, it has a heavier feel than People You Meet on Vacation or Beach Read. It's clouded by anxiety, the loss of loved ones, and family complications. It's a bit more claustrophobic and complex than Henry's previous reads, but it's not less romantic for it. In fact, I think that what makes this author so accomplished is how she explores themes more associated with Literary Fiction, always giving us a dose of that nagging, nostalgic, slightly empty feeling a melancholic book brings, but circling back to romance, tying everything up in a beautiful happy ending.
At this point, if I see Emily Henry in a book, it's a sure giveaway that I'll buy it, read it, love it, and recommend to all my friends.
Oh I absolutely loved this! It was a lovely surprise to receive an arc for it. I actually already have it pre-ordered for release day and am going to reread it as soon as it arrives!
There were a couple of things I really loved. Firstly, the book-related aspects, her being an agent, the editing, was so fun to read about. Secondly, and maybe mostly, I loved the interactions of Nora and Charlie. I laughed out loud so many times at their exchanges, the type of humour is just what I like. I also loved the way everything was resolved, it's so refreshing to read a romance that doesn't end the same way so many do. She is very good at writing parental and sibling relationships, one of the really strong points I found with Beach Read too.
Great read, I would recommend it!
This book was incredible. I sat down to read the first chapter and all of a sudden it was dark and I was finished.
I felt so connected to Nora and Charlie, and I loved the way that different tropes were dropped in and turned on their heads. I already want to reread it!
I was so so excited to see this appear in my inbox and it absolutely lived up to expectations. I loved it - the banter between Nora and Charlie, their romance, the relationship between Nora and Libby and all of the book love. It was perfect.
Emily Henry has done it again. This book was so good I read it in one sitting because I just could not bear to put it down.
-I adored the characters in the book: Nora, Charlie and Libby. They were all really well rounded out and I loved seeing them interact with each other.
-Nora and Charlie were absolutely perfect for each other and I was rooting for them throughout the whole novel.
-I loved the setting and now Nora found herself living out her own small town trope filled novel.
-It had a really good balance of funny and emotional/vulnerable moments, as well as some spicy scenes.
I just adored everything about this book, it’s definitely a new favourite along with beach read and people we meet on vacation no has confirmed that I read anything that Emily Henry gives me!
I loved this book. I loved literally everything about it. The premise is brilliant and one for the bookworms for sure: the other woman from that classic small town trope. Such a brilliant idea executed perfectly. The characters are 3-dimensional and brilliant. I adored the sisters and their complex relationship. I loved the story and the way it panned out. I think this is Henry’s best.
Did not disappoint at all!
This was one of my most anticipated romance reads of 2022 after loving beach read and people we meet on vacation so the stakes were high. Within the first few pages I knew I was going to love it but I didn't realise how much it was going consume me. I read this in one sitting, I put my son to bed at 7pm and didn't move until I had finished, it was that good.
I had so much love for all of the characters involved in this book and was fully invested in the out come. One of my favourite parts in a romance novel is when the main characters have fun, witty banter, Emily Henry is a master at writing this and this book is packed full of it, it made me laugh, it made me smirk, it was hot!
This book feels like the authors most emotional to date and it really got under my skin, I just wanted to wrap Nora in a giant hug and Charlie, well its probably best I don't write that here...
This is the perfect summer read and I cant wait for everyone else to start reading and raving about it.
