Book Lovers by Emily Henry follows Nora, the notorious "the Shark" literary agent. She seems to have everything going for her, expect her love life. When her sister begs her to take a break from work, and suggests a vacation at the picturesque town of Sunshine Falls, Nora reluctantly agrees. There she bumps into the incredibly charming Charlie, her nemesis and a book editor. And from here, their story begins.

This book was so, so good. I giggled, I smirked and I fell in love. This book was the perfect read just as I was falling into another reading slump. It was my idea of a enjoyable, solid romance from start to finish. Sure, it was a bit cliche at times, but that is what is so likeable about romance novels– sometimes you want to be assured that these characters will eventually fall in love and stay in love. The pacing was great, the plot was good and everything in between was pretty much close to perfection. With so many romance books out there, it's difficult to stand-out in an already overcrowded genre, but I believe this book is one of a kind. It's been two days since I finished reading this book and I am still thinking about Nora and Charlie.

Speaking of these characters, I love these characters. Nora is my idea of a perfect protagonist - she's independent, has a good relationship with her sister, feisty, has a great sense of humour and sassy as hell! I love the fact that she is a literary agent, it's the first time I have ever read a book where the protagonist that works in the book industry, and I loved all the book-related references sprinkled throughout the book. All I have to say about the love interest, Charlie, is that he is on my list of 'Book Boyfriends That Should Be My Boyfriend' list and that is all you need to know.

I love the Nora and Libby's relationship as sisters. Nora has had to take on the role of Libby's parent ever since then death of their mother, and as a result, Nora has had to juggle the role of mother and sister, often sacrificing quite a bit of her own needs for her sister. I love how we got to see a little more of their dynamic outside of the romance plot, and the complexities that exist in their relationship. Nora is an amazing sister, and it seemed like there was no river that Nora would not cross if it would mean seeing a smile grace her little sister's face. The character development was also well-written. It was hard to not get attached to these characters because the author did such an amazing job making these characters likeable but also real. They are flawed but we see realistic growth, and it makes us readers root for them.

There was also a good dose of humour. I love the references to all the typical romance tropes out there, and the fact that Nora was so adamant about not fitting into those tropes– it was like a book-reader-inception. I would rather get bookish references than those cheesy, gen-z references that seem to be sprinkled throughout quite a few books these says. I would not be mad if this book got adapted into a film because this is quite literally my dream rom-com plot.

Now for the most important part of this review: the romance. The chemistry between Nora and Charlie was electrifying. It's been a while since I was genuinely impressed by a contemporary-romance couples's chemistry– at least lately the romance books that I've been reading are "sub-par" or "good" at best. Nora and Charlie's chemistry, however, wow. The build-up, the banter, the tension = perfection. I love how they had quite a few similarities between them, especially the fact that they both love reading and books (obviously, it comes with being a book editor and literary agent). It's been a while since I said this about a romance, but: I fell in love with their love. It's genuine, it's unconditional and they actually talk to each other (miscommunication trope who?!). I love this book so much, I would highly recommend you read it if you are a fan of the genre.

At this point, if I see any book that is written by Emily Henry, it will sure be an automatic addition to the TBR (to-be-read) and book wishlist. I cannot wait to read more of her books, especially her more well-known titles. Everyone say thank you to NetGalley for introducing me to Emily Henry!

This book was a very sweet entertaining read. The main characters Nora and Charlie were unique and lovable, especially Charlie. Both were strong and passionate.

As much as I loved the characters and their journey through their relationship, I did find myself skimming through some of the chapters. Not out of dislike, it was more to move the story along. This book is a little bit of a slowburner. I really enjoy slow burners, I think it was more to do with Nora and her sister's list about dating. I didn't understand why she went through it, if I'm honest.

Overall I really enjoyed the book, the ending was worth it. Also Charlie has to be the ultimate book boyfriend ever.

Thank you to the author, netgalley and penguin for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

A solid slow burn romance that has you aching for more. The back and forth between Nora and Charlie is palpable and addicting to read. A genuinely unputdownable novel that will leave you with those little butterflies in your tummy!!

At this stage, if Emily Henry writes it - I will read it. She can do no wrong when it comes to romances for me. I went into this one with very high expectations after You and Me on Vacation was one of my favourite books of last year and I certainly wasn't disappointed. I loved the dynamic between Nora and Charlie, their connection just leapt off the page with their banter and just how much they cared about each other. I found myself both swooning and laughing. I will definitely pick up more of Emily Henry's books in the future because she just keeps getting better.

Emily Henry was on my tbr list for a really long time. I have finally The Book Lovers and it was brilliant!

I adore it. I love everything. I love Nora, Charlie, their relationship. I love Nora's transformation, her changing into a strong woman who is reaching what she has always dreaming about. I love the books in between, the atmophere, their sense of humor and even the smalltown vibes.

I took it for my Greek holiday and it was the best option ever. I have already bought the rest of Em's books and really looking forward to catch them all up ASAP.

Perfect story for not only book lovers.

Books about books is one of my favourite genres and I have yet to find one that ticks every box for me. As I started Book Lovers, I found myself laughing immediately and thought I'd found it. The book starts with a hilarious look at book tropes, and this hooked me straight away!
I first tried to read this a few months ago but for some reason, put it down and didn't go back to it. My sister has recently read it and loved it, so I decided to go back and try again.
I'm so glad I did!
I have no idea what made me stop reading it! I loved it so much, read it in a matter of days as I couldn't put it down. It was exactly the kind of book I needed at the moment.
The humour in it is fantastic, I literally laughed out loud with every page!
Warm, funny and with so much heart!
I loved it.

Emily Henry has done it again! An enemies to lovers slow burn that doesn’t fit the normal mold. Henry seamlessly weaves in additional plot lines that make this so much more than your average romance novel- one of the things that keeps bringing me back to her novels! Highly recommend this to fans of Beth O’Leary, Ali Hazelwood and Tessa Bailey!

I absent-mindedly picked this up late Saturday afternoon and didn't let it leave my hand until I finished after midnight. My old, cynical, grumpy heart is full. Thank you, Emily Henry, for this wee bit of much-needed joy and vicarious living in Sunshine Falls. I highly recommend 'Book Lovers' and can't wait to see what this author comes up with next!

Nora eats, sleeps and breathe books. Everyone she meets fits in to a character profile. Agent to bestselling author, Dusty its only fitting she should take a vacation in the setting of her.most recent novel with her heavily pregnant sister. To get the most out of their trip they compile a list of things to do including get Nora dating again.

A really enjoyable read with captivating characters. Highly recommended for 'book lovers'

Thank you Ellie Hudson Penguin Random House for the chance to review this book.

With a title Book Lovers what’s not to like? A book about literary agent Nora and arch nemesis editor Charlie, both workaholics.
Nora’s sister takes her away to Sunshine Falls a small romantic town to get some downtime and maybe find a cute farmer or lumberjack to have a holiday romance with.
Instead she bumps into Charlie! Who is also staying in town.
Loved the location, community feel, fulfilling a wish list and finding more to life than work!
Great fun gripping read.

First Emily Henry's book, grateful to be able to read such an anticipated novel.. Unfortunately, the tone was a miss for me (as mentioned by other reviewers, it read more like a contemporary fiction). The family dynamic tho (especially the sister-sister relationship) was written with a lot of care and interest in real life struggles, and the experience of working in a male dominated field was also displayed really well, so if a reader comes to this book expecting more than a romance novel, they will absolutely get it here

Nora Stephens is an agent for authors and is practically married to the job. Whilst her sister, couldn't be any more different, has tried many careers until she married, settled down and is now having her third baby. She proposes to Nora that they should have a girls holiday for one month. To the small town where Nora's clients best selling book is based. Will Nora find herself and learn to love or will this end in disaster?

After reading this authors book called "Beach Read." I knew I must read all her books. I then read "You and me on vacation" and didn't love it. Hence it has taken me a while to read this book.

This book is a great romance read. It is a beautiful story that gently unfolds making nothing feel too heavy. Whilst your totally invested in the characters happy ending and just know that Lastra and Stephens are meant to be together. This book keeps the pace steady and pages turning throughout.

The characters each have their own unique personality and this provides important dynamics. Particularly as they've both got secrets which do change everything about their relationship. This dynamic shows that people put on a front to protect themselves during their busy lives but take it back to basics and those fronts melt away.

This book makes you laugh, cry, jump with joy and shout at the pages! The twists and turns hit just in the right places when you start to get that warm fuzzy feeling. Right up until the last page!

Emily Henry never disappoints! Her writing style is incredibly immersive and dynamics between the characters (both main and side) are incredible!

Emily Henry has done it again folks - another well written and moving, deeply romantic novel about two book lovers and their not quite rivals to lovers arc. I say 'not quite rivals' because I didn't really detect too much of a rivalry, moreso a battle of wills and then they kind of become friends pretty quickly but I digress.

I liked the romance and the slow build up of Charle and Nora's relationship - I like that in each of Henry's books the main couple start off as friends first, with tension and longing in bucketloads to keep it interesting. I thought that the dynamic between the characters was well done and I particularly liked the whole message about 'unlearning who we think we are and finding who we actually are' along the way. Amongst that though - I also liked that the characters, Nora especially were unapologetically themselves and that she isn't vilified for being ambitious and wanting the life she wants - notably by Charlie. Where in other stories her passion and zeal would cause friction, here she is simply understood and seen for who she is and that's a wonderful thing.

The secondary characters were just as well developed - though I didn't particularly care for them too much. I don't know if it's the eldest sibling in me but I found Libby really annoying at times and related more to Nora, I wonder if other older sibs reading will feel the same way? Anywho, I feel like I could have done with slightly less of the family stuff but it made sense in the context of the story so I can deal.

Overall, Book Lovers was a great read - not my favourite of Henry's books so far but a solid contender.
