Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.
Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating bestsellers. And he's Nora's work nemesis.
Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she's the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That's why Nora's sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month's holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It's a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into...Charlie.
This is the 3rd book I've read by Emily Henry and I just love them!
This novel is engaging, like getting absorbed in a great chick flick - they should definitely be made into films for sure!
I find the characters, setting and story great - its so likeable without being over mushy and sentimental and the storyline just hooks you into the plot and you find yourself willing the characters (all of them not just Nora and Charlie) to work everything out.
I see another book is scheduled for release next year and I can't wait! Definitely recommended to everyone.
Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Nora Stephens is a true New Yorker. She is a tough, independent literary agent and is fiercely loyal to her clients and her younger sister Libby. The sisters were raised without a father, and they lost their mother. Even though Libby is married, has two young children and one on the way, Nora had always acted as a surrogate parent and the cool aunt but leaves little time for a personal life. When Nora senses that she and Libby are drifting apart and Libby is keeping secrets from her, the sisters decide to go on a summer getaway to the small town of Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. They come up with a list of things to do on vacation to ensure that they have true adventures.

'Is there anything better than iced coffee and a bookstore on a sunny day? I mean, aside from hot coffee and a bookstore on a rainy day.'

If you’re a “Book Lover” this actually is the book for you. I have marked so many quotes that made me laugh!.
This is a gooey, cute, floating on air ‘maybe the world isn’t quite so bad’ kind of book. It is full of bookish nerdyness, sisterly love, small town bookshops, big city love...

Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin General UK - Fig Tree, Hamish Hamilton, Viking, Penguin Life, Penguin Business, Penguin for allowing me the opportunity to read this novel!

Nora is a literary agent and her whole life revolves around books. Her sister Libby invites her on a trip to a small town in North Carolina. Nora has a vision of living out a small-town transformation like she has read about in books. Unfortunately, she keeps bumping into Charlie, a grumpy editor she has met through work. They don't really get a long but they keep getting thrown together during their time in the same small town.

I really enjoyed this one. If you like books then you will love the bookish nature of the plot for this one. I loved the characters, Nora and Charlie had some great banter and their chemistry was perfect.

Overall I loved this book and it is my favourite that I have read from Emily Henry so far.

I really enjoyed this smart, self-aware rom-com. The context of both the romantic leads being in publishing made for a brilliantly self-referential universe, so it felt realistic and "anti cliche", puncturing previous stereotypical romance novel tropes in a light-hearted and gentle way. The characters were likeable and engaging and the small-town setting contrasted with the love letter to New York created a relatable tension. The frisson of 'enemies to lovers' plotline (not overwrought) reminded me of The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (which I loved) and I enjoyed that the lead characters developed their relationship on a realistic timescale. A great holiday read, exactly what you'd look for in such a book. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read.

Emily Henry has such a likeable and relatability to her writing. I love all her previous work and was not let down by this. It is the classic rom-com partnered with a roll of the eyes. Predictable but heart warming

Book lovers came to me early from the publisher and as soon as I had it on my Kindle I started reading it because I knew I was going to like it. Now I tell you, the word like is an understatement. This book has become one of my favorites because I felt reflected in the story and its protagonist.

The story is beautiful, romantic but without being cloying and with a story that shows the different personal relationships and conflicts in a masterful way. No doubt that the story revolves around books and the publishing world has only added points, plus we have the trope of small town because there is a summer trip. Without a doubt, I think reading it this time of year is the best thing you can do.

The characters are amazing. Nora is a woman who works very hard because she wanted to and now her world is being turned upside down a bit because her sister is weird and doesn't understand. A trip will change the way she sees reality and she will learn a lot about herself, she has an amazing evolution throughout the book. Charlie is a character that I loved as well and really surprised me. He is just what Nora needs and although he starts with an enemies to lovers, we soon see how things change. This couple has become one of my favorites.

It is the first book I read by the author and I assure you it will not be the last (I already have a couple waiting on the shelf). I loved it so much that it has become one of my favorite romance books and days later I can't stop thinking about it. It has been such an addictive read that it lasted me very little time and as soon as I finished it I would have started it all over again.

In short, Book lovers has become one of my favorite books and I won't stop recommending it to anyone who likes rom-coms. The story is amazing and I managed to connect with it so much. You guys have to read it 💙.

Thanks to the editor and NetGalley

Such a great premise – and when coupled with two fantastic protagonists, an excellent supporting case and an excellent storyline, you have a winning combination. Achingly romantic though not always in the ways you migt expect. I loved this book

Emily Henry hs done it again!!!!!! And I have discovered my favouritest book of 2022!!! This year has so far been very bad in terms of good books and this came as a breath of fresh air!!! I love Emily Henry’s writing, loved Nora and Charlie’s romance, loved how Emily Henry cleverly subverted the usual romance tropes, loved loved loved the ending! The chemistry was sooo on point and there’s nothing worth criticising in this book!! Highly recommended

I think of all the Emily Henry books this could be the best one yet.
Could not put it down, can't wait for the next one...

I fell in love with this book. I couldn't put it down. It is well written and the characters have so much chemistry it's just leaping off the page.

It's also really refreshing to have a couple who are complete as they are and embrace a future child free.
This is a great read. I highly recommend it.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If this were a Hallmark movie, one where the big city guy moves to the small town and falls in love with the woman who runs the local Christmas tree farm, then Nora is the ex he'd have left behind.

Nora IS New York City. It's running through her veins. She has no desire to leave her life and fast-paced life in publishing behind to move to some small charming town (unlike her three most recent ex-boyfriends).

When Nora's pregnant sister plans a trip for just the two of them before her third child arrives, Nora agrees - if only to finally get a look at the real-life town that inspired one of her best client's most successful books. What she's not counting on is to bump into a publishing rival from NYC - Charlie is just as irritating as he was when they almost worked together several years before.

Ugh, I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.
This chemistry. It's immaculate. The banter is witty, and warm, and funny, and there's no silly mind games. The communication is great, the build-up is great, the characters are so loveable.

The whole "I need to take care of my sister" stuff did get a little tiring towards the end, but I am a sucker for a sister storyline. I loved their relationship and it made me think of my own sister.

This was the first book I've read by Emily Henry, but it won't be the last. I adored it.

Thank you to @penguinukbooks for granting me approval to read it on Netgalley. I loved it.

This is my first Emily Henry : I had such high expectations, and I'm glad to say… it did not disappoint at all ! Book Lovers is the perfect pick me up when you need something quirky and cute. At the same time, the book also touches upon deeper, more sensitive subjects - in a very conscious and sensible way. I enjoyed this romance a lot, and I've already bought Emily Henry's two other books ! Can't wait to read more by this author.

It’s taken everything in me to wait this long to post my review of this book, as I read it back in April, but I’m so pleased to be the last stop on this blog tour! @emilyhenrywrites is an auto-read author for me. With her quirky characters, and rom-coms with a twist, her books are the perfect escapism.

Book Lovers is no different, the protagonist, Nora, is the girl that gets left behind in the big city as her partners visit small towns and meet their happily ever after, and then she gets dragged to a small town by her sister and everything changes.

It’s such a steamy and romantic lead, with such loveable characters - something I always expect now from Emily.

A definite recommend from me!

This book is incredible!!! It had my favourite tropes: enemies-to-lovers, small-town romance, family love.
Also, the banter between the characters was exceptional, it made me laugh a lot.

So if you don't know what to read, pick this book! It's worth it.

I've been struggling with this for about 2 weeks, I've got to 30% and cannot go further.

Here's why: I can totally see where this is going, and while a bit of froth every now and then is great, I chose this because I wanted exactly that, when it is laced with label names, judgemental attitudes, a totally predictable story and it isn't well written, then it is time for me to look for new things.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me access. Sadly this one wasn't for me.

people we meet on vacation was kind of a big disappointment for me so i went into this trying to keep my expectations as low as possible, and well, i was overall pleasantly surprised but it didn't manage to hit me as hard as beach read did. overall, i think henry's power really is in her characters and managing to create relationships that feel so real. i think it's also refreshing to read contemporary romance that isn't solely focused on the romance, but takes its time to also develop the character relationships with the surrounding characters, adding to the realism of the story,

Possibly the best Emily Henry so far, and definitely my preferred one of all of her books.
I don't even know where to begin with this book. If I had to whittle it down to the one thing I loved most in it, it would have to be the banter between Nora and Charlie. I laughed at possibly every other line of theirs, but there was this flow, a 'natural' feel to it, not forced, not wrung out... It just flowed, and it also made sense that these two people would interact that way, and through their words, we also see their relationship develop - the 'shark' title Nora lands with takes such a different turn when Charlie handles it.
And this relationship totally did me in! I have no clue how Ms. Henry does it - we get only Nora's POV, we see only her side of the story, her world primarily - but Charlie became so alive in there, and both were people who popped out of the book. At times, it almost felt like (what I imagine will be) a futuristic read where you open the book and holographics of the characters pop out in full resolution to enact the story before your eyes.
One peeve I did have was a love-hate relationship with Libby - god, she was annoying in her 'fairy princess in the clouds' way, and the scope Nora had given her, but Libby was totally oblivious and just set to have her way about everything...
But it all worked out in the end, and that's another thing - nothing was rushed and/or wrapped in a nice bow and delivered to us in a last-ditch gush at the end. This made the story all the more precious, because Nora and Charlie worked for their happy ending, and we did too, reading about it all
Definitely one of the best books ever! Definitely requires a (or more) rereads!

I was fortunate to receive both the audio and netgalley version of this book, so thank you so much. I ended up listening to the audio and likely would have given the same rating for the written version as the audio. It was a winner for me! All the stars.

I liked the enemies to lovers, though I couldn't really figure out why they were enemies really, as it didn't seem that big a deal. What was great was the banter between Nora and Charlie, and their intellect and wit in communicating. I liked they were a mature couple, but still didn't have things figured out, but appreciated the way they navigated their individual and collective situations.

I liked the less the sibling relationship between Nora and her sibling. But realise this isn't just down to Libby - she knows nothing else, but Nora is also part-way responsible, and has always used Libby as an excuse for not taking all the risks and doing all the things. I did like the metaphor of Nora being released from the constraints of caring for Libby, in order to find more about what makes herself happy. The bucket list was a fun idea and translated well.

In essence I loved this book, and out of the two EH books I've read now, it's by far my favourite.

Such a great summer read this is. Like the romance and the spicy parts a lot of course. I truly enjoy Emily Henry's writing and as an author and when she release new stuff, I don't hesitate that I will like it.
