I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. It was a light, quick read but I’m afraid that it wasn’t for me. It was quite slow, there were some good characters (Gareth, Ben), some warm friendships but it felt a little disjointed and it did make me want to ‘skip to the end’
I absolutely loved it! I was hooked from the first pages and couldn't put it down. Amy and her friends are totally crazy but i Think that's why i loved them and this story so much.
Amy was gifted/cursed with the ability to see how any relationship ends as soon as she kisses someone for the first time. However after a drunken wedding and 3 kisses with mystery men, she is left trying to find out not only who they are, but which one of them is the man she is supposed to spend the rest of her life with!
From the very beginning after an encounter with a mattress salesman, I absolutely loved this book! It was amusing and heartfelt, especially when it came to the parts about Amy’s mum and the support of her friends. I liked all the characters (except one of the kisses who was mean!) and I really hope the author continues their journey as I think the series could definitely work even after Amy’s story is concluded.
I thought the ending was perfect and Amy ended up with exactly the right person, which the author hints at from the start so it’s a very satisfying resolution. I will definitely be recommending this book and look forward to rereading it in the future.
Three kisses. Two of the men are identified but the last kiss is a mystery. Who is he? Can she find him because her premonition tells her he is the one? A page turner which I enjoyed.
Skip To The End ~ Molly James
•Amy Daniels is what most people would consider a catch, so why is she single? Amy can see something nobody else can: The End.
•As soon as Amy kissed somebody she see’s how their relationship would end. So When she drunkenly kisses 3 men at her friends wedding and see’s 2 painful but 1 promising ending, the mystery begins. Problem is…Amy can’t remember who she kissed or what premonition matches to which man
This book had me giggling out loud, welling up and saying ‘just one more chapter before bed’ more than I care to admit. It’s heartwarming, funny and definitely a must read for all.
The momentum of the book was solid throughout and although the characters could have been developed a bit more, I feel the writing made me not want to put it down!
Thank you @netgalley for allowing me the chance to read this before it’s release.
I felt this story had lots of potential, but was too obvious from the start, and focused too much on secondary characters to hold the readers attention. I guessed from the first chapter whom she’d end up with, and was a bit disappointed with the speed it ended once she did, whilst still going into plenty details on the other characters. It was nice to see our heroine had kind loving friends, but it felt they had too many pages dedicated to them and not the story progression, and some of the things written about them felt as though the author was told she needed to make her characters more diverse, so decided to try to check all the boxes in one story; transgender, check, lesbian, check, terminal illness, check. Sadly these felt forced and stereotypical rather than natural, and so it detracted somewhat from the flow of the story

This was a laugh at times, the plot was amazing and there was room for so many more laughs and true conundrums. But some were never explored.
Let us get to the story...
Amy has a curse. Every single man she kisses, she is, by Fate, told what happens to end their relationship. Right at the moment of that first kiss, she has a premonition. It could be a vision of the man cheating on her or, it could be a general feeling of terror and doom. This saves her time pursuing the wrong man but there is one other thing...
𝑆ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑎 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑦 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛.
Now I liked Amy but she was very much Bridget Jones in her womanness. She gets told to make an effort to be desirable; she’s not the most feminine of people.
𝐼 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝐼 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑠𝑒 𝑓𝑎𝑟 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒.
I thought this might be an 'Ella Enchanted' kind of story or, like Penelope. My guess was a lady cursed but unable to speak of it. I thought there would be funny situations right when the first kiss takes place.
(There was only one, right at the beginning.)
I also thought we'd see charged chemistry between Amy and a man she was falling for... Her longing to kiss him but restraining herself, because she was afraid to find out what breaks them. So Amy forces herself to exit any time the air gets too charged and the man is left wondering why…
I thought that would very much happen and I couldn’t wait to get to that page…
But what this book was is different.
It is Amy’s best friend's wedding day. That evening, Amy kisses three different men while in a drunk state. In the morning she has no recollection except she finally had that happy premonition... She now has to track him down. She has photos, a list of the invitees and hazy memories which serve as the only clues.
For me, this book fell a little short of my expectations of what it would be. I liked the beginning- it was strong and it had chemistry. After that, we meet two other men who also had "something about them." But the problem lay with the third love interest, who entered the story a little too late. He was then forged into the plot as though he was a contender all along… That felt rushed and unwanted. I also didn’t like Amy forgetting what was (for him) such a beautiful moment and their first kiss.
Spoiler ahead…

As a reader I didn’t need the mystery element, I didn’t need to guess the man, so that’s not why it fell short. My guess was correct but, the story fell short because he was a character ruled out. Right at the beginning, he ruled himself out as did the other characters. Not worthy of a second thought. It was weird then for the author to backtrack when it was clear he was not an option.
I do like that this book was, in the end, a friendship to lovers romance. These are the best of tropes but… this needed playing into from the beginning.
----
There are books which are favourites of mine which have done it better.
I would love this plot to have another chance at it… Amy’s daughter experiencing the family curse this time.
It is difficult for any book to meet a reader’s expectations and this cannot be considered a flaw of the book. Thus the only flaw is the lack of cohesion and the story coming together. So 3 stars for me.
I received this book from Netgalley for review consideration. All opinions are honest. I give my thanks to Quercus Books!
Three kisses. Two break ups. One happy ending...
Amy Daniels leads a happy life, she has a great career and fabulous friends, there's just one thing missing and that's a romantic relationship, due to a strange psychic ability that she has, as soon as she gets close to a man and kisses him she can see how the relationship will end, so she remains single. Then, at her best friends wedding, she drunkenly kisses three men, she sees three different endings; two are painful and one is perfect, the only problem is she can't remember who she kissed and which ending belongs to which man, but she knows she won't rest until she finds out.
This story is a lighthearted, funny and, at times, emotional read. I loved the concept, which is quite similar to another book I read recently but with a different twist. I immediately loved Amy and was praying she would find 'the one' and get her happy ending. Skip to the End has characters who are relatable and very likeable and the story centres around the friendships between these characters, which makes the revelation of 'the one' all the more poignant and, even though I guessed quite early on who that was, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. My usual genre is psychological thrillers/ crime but every so often I like to have a break and pick up a heartwarming read to balance it out and this was a perfect choice. If you like a fast paced, easy read that will tug at your heartstrings then this is one for you.
I'd like to thank Quercus Books and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.
I really enjoyed this story, I loved the style of writing and the chapters were easy to follow. Amy is such a loveable character and her group of friends are such a dream.
When I first read about the premonitions I was a bit worried that it would take away from the story and end up being totally unrealistic. However it was the opposite, they were really tactically put into the book and were entwined within rather then being a totally separate issues. I loved hearing how the premonitions worked and it made me think how fun yet scary that would actually be.
May was probably one of my favourite characters in the book, her charisma and approach to life makes me laugh! I looked forward to her response of everything that happened. I was rooting for Amy to find the love of her life and throughout the book I couldn’t predict where it was going, this was really good as with most books I can guess what’s going to happen. I think this made me like it even more!
I did feel that some of the chapters were a bit drawn out but it’s not actually a major problem. I’d recommend this for a fun, light hearted read with room for giggles and a group of friends that you can really get on board with.
3.5 stars
After reading the blurb, I had high expectations for this book but sadly it didn't quite live up to them.
I did enjoy the innovative plot but the pacing was a bit slow for me and it there were ultimately too many potential love interests for me to be fully invested like I normally would be in a story like this.
It was a quick, easy read but I was just expecting a little bit more.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Skip to the End starts off with a bang. Leaking magical realism, the first chapter reels you in with a charming and addicting rendition of Amy shopping for a new mattress and crushing on the salesman. That's until he kisses her and she can see how the beautiful fairytale in her head shifts to the nightmarish sequence of "he's in a relationship already, and his current girlfriend is pregnant".
Amy was blessed/cursed with the ability to see how a relationship will end as soon as she kisses her intended. This quirky premise promises an interesting outside-of-the box romance. All culminates in a wedding where Amy drinks plenty of alcohol, kisses three different people, and has three different endings jumbled in her head. One will be the happy ending of her dreams if only she could figure out which of the guys it belonged to.
Unfortunately, where the writer was abundant in creativity, she lacked in execution. The magic of the first chapter quickly fades into a world of non-happenings. The pacing is quite off throughout the book, and it's clear from early on who the actual love interest is. By the time the suspicion was confirmed I was tired and a bit bored.
Overall, I liked the innovative plot. I'm also a huge fan of magical realism, so I admire the premise and how it was completely different from any traditional romance. However, I was disappointed with how things turned out.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for approving me for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A good long run into the meat of the novel with some great banter and chats between Amy and her friends. The mystery of which of the men Amy kissed at the wedding draws us in and we live through the dates that Amy has as she tries to work out who is the love of her life and the disasters she has as she works it all through. Finding out with Amy, her mum and friends what life can be like is very cute,
ARC received with thanks to NetGalley, this review is completely my own opinion.
This book was okay, I’ve been on a romance kick lately and I think maybe I’ve read too many books that excite me that going into this I felt a little disappointed.
The characters were fun and I did like them but at times I felt there were too many and found I was getting confused.
This book had a slowish pace and I found myself getting a little bored at times too and questioning where the book was going and wanting to skip to the end.
Overall it wasn’t for me, but it could be for you.
This author hooks her readers and keeps them dangling till the very last page…..Really sweet, warm hearted story with some very funny moments . . . Thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a lovely way to start the new week! Begs to be read in one sitting…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was a lovely book, with echoes of 'With This Kiss' by Carrie Hope Fletcher. James created the distinct characters well, and I was invested in their relationships, and the story was gentle yet emotive and tacked difficult themes sensitively.
I really like the plot idea of this story. Unfortunately, I found the ending too predictable from the beginning and so therefore a lot of the text felt unnecessary with the other potential love interests. It took me quite a long time to get into the story. The care home setting for Amy’s Mum was a nice touch and I liked the happy ended location that brought most of the characters together.
This book was an absolute joy to read. It went much deeper than romantic love; highlighting the importance of friends and family and staying true to yourself. Whilst I could predict what was going to happen from the start, it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the book in any way; it was just a lovely read. Thanks NetGalley and Quercus for the advanced copy.
A lovely, light read: definitely perfect for an airplane or side of the pool. It's fun and charming, but not overly drama filled. The emotional moments are handled and well, and it addresses the impact Dementia can have on loved ones well.
Amy, the FMC, really made me laugh. Her humour was great, and you definitely root for her throughout the story. She has the gift of being able to see how a relationship will end when she kisses someone for the first time, this slight magical element was great, especially as I lean towards fantasy often. It still had a RomCom feel to it and I had an inkling pretty early on about her happily ever after.
It's VERY slow burn for Amy and her "hero".
Despite this, the romance in the book is great; I was nervous when I had a feeling she dates all the wrong people, as I was worried it would ruin the book waiting for her to figure it out. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the situations and found myself laughing out loud.
The supporting characters were great too, seeing their storylines unfurl added a lovely theme to the book.
My 3 star rating was based on the following:
Ease of Reading: 5/5 Stars
Characters: 4/5 Stars
Plot: 4/5 Stars
Impactfulness: 3/5 Stars
Romance: 3/5 Stars
Spice/Smut: 1/5 Stars
I definitely feel if the book had been expanded a little more and there was some more romance between the FMC and who she inevitably ends up with, specifically tying up so loose ends with their interactions with other characters, the score may have been higher.
However, all in all it's definitely a book that can appeal to anyone and doesn't target a completely specific audience!
A beautifully written book. Really enjoyed reading this. Thanks to publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to read
Loved this, it’s so charmingly written, the characters are all completely endearing and while the twist won’t melt your brain, the journey getting there is so enjoyable it didn’t really matter. Also loved Amy’s relationship with her mum, it was so touching.
