Amy has a peculiar gift: when she kisses someone for the first time, she can see how their story will end. A useful gift, you may say. But would you really like to have it? Of course, you would get back hours of your life that you would have wasted on the wrong person, but you would always miss the joy and the suspense of the ride too.
What immediately caught my eye about this book was the synopsis. The concept of the kiss-premonitions was pretty cool and made me reflect on how the uncertainty of our (love) life can be a source of anxiety as well as the main reason for the thrill.
The story, albeit a bit predictable, was extremely enjoyable and sweet.
I liked the friendship dynamics and the relationship between Amy and her mum.
If you're in the mood to read a light and funny rom-com, this is the book for you.
This is a fun and light hearted chick lit story - 30 something is looking for love but not found it due to being able to predict the ending of the relationship on the first kiss. The dialogue was sparky and the the storyline fun and intriguing. Perfect summer read.
Skip to the end… is exactly what I wanted to do when I read this book. I really was excited to read this advanced copy of the book as soon as I read the blurb. Who wouldn’t want to be able to kiss someone and know if it ends in happiness or sorrow but for me the expectation was not met.
I will start with the positives, the concept is brilliant I love this idea that a woman has this ability to kiss a man and she will know how it will end. I also enjoyed the bits with Amy and her mum as they were very sweet and it did melt my heart (I wish I could share which part but feel like that would be a spoiler). When we found out who was the guy I was happy but I wanted more cause I knew it was him from the start and it felt very rushed.
But I have to rate this low because of the following reasons. This book was not personally enjoyable for me and took me several days to power through as I wanted to give it a fair review and some parts were slow while others rushed. I didn’t fall in love with any of the characters which is what I want to be able to do when I read a book even if it is a side character. I felt that the plot was predictable after the first few chapters which don’t get me wrong is fine but for a mystery who is it story I wanted a bit more of a guessing game. Ultimately the novel was a miscommunication trope and sometimes that goes well but rarely and this for me was one of the times where I didn’t enjoy it.
I think had the plot been rearranged a little to start with the mysterious kisses and then move to building the history of Amy’s power (which would have been nice to see more of and understand more context to how it came to be - I mean this is set in the real world so this power is not common), then to being introduced to her friends via the plot, the man hunt and ultimately the reveal. I probably would have rated the book higher.
A Fateful five-star read. This was such a great read, I love the premise of fate, and the idea that you could kiss someone and see your end, but that being said, I don’t know if I would be brave enough to kiss anyone, so Amy is a braver soul than I. the situations she finds herself in, are just so hard at times. This is a sweet and compelling read; you need to help Amy figure out who is that third person. Who is her destiny and honestly I loved the ending, it just completed the whole story so well for me. I loved Amy’s journey and weirdly was happy that it wasn’t all sunshine and roses, that showed a realness to me, and the red herrings just added so much to the story, this is a great read and one that you will enjoy at every turn.
Lovely light hearted book with a mystical twist. Easy read great for the beach. Well written with characters you can enjoy. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy
Loved this book - the title for me was the biggest draw ( love a Spaced reference, well at least it was to me!) - I enjoyed this tale of Amy for who, each kiss means something huge! I whipped through this book in one day and super enjoyed reading about Amy and her quest to find the man of her dreams!
For all the people who need more kisses in their life
If you're looking for a light-hearted summer beach read, this is your book!
The story is about Amy Daniels. She gets premonitions when she kisses men for the first time and can see how the relationship will end!
At her best friend's wedding, Charlotte, she kisses three men on a dare from her friend May.
The problem is that she was so drunk and she can't remember who she kissed, but tells May that she found 'the one'...
With the help of her longtime friends she tries to find the mystery guy, which leads to dates... sometimes two dates in one day!
'We do offer body pillows'...
'Do they come in the shape of Jason Mamoa?'
This book is a light and easy read and puts a smile on your face.
I liked the friendship dynamics and the idea of a botanical café where you can sit and drink all kinds of herbal goodiness and read books.
However, early on in the book you get little glimpses about who the third person might be. That spoiled the plot way too soon for me.
But otherwise it's a light, original, not too steamy story (and very PG-13 so I can recommend it to younger readers).
A quick and easy read that is well written with an interesting storyline and well developed characters. I really enjoyed it.
A pleasant enough read, well written, interesting characters, but I struggled just a little bit with the premise of the story but that’s my issue! Would make a good beach book
This was a really warm-hearted and easygoing read featuring a fabulous mix of friends but most specifically about Amy who thanks to a weird phenomenon affecting the females in her family gets a vision of how a relationship will end the first time she kisses someone. I loved that unique twist abd the way she dealt with it was well considered. The fact she finds ‘the one’ whilst she’s drunk at a wedding and can’t remember who it is led to a few interesting weeks of her narrowing it down with interesting results. I found this a really engaging read and the only thing that that spoilt it for me was figuring out the plot quite early on, otherwise it was a really fun read.

What a brilliant book this is!
Amy is such a loveable character! She has premonitions from when she kisses men and she can see how the relationship will end! Wouldn't we all want that gift? 😂
I found this such an easy read, I found that it didn't drag on, and I never wanted to put my book down!
Molly James is an awesome author and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future!

This is a lovely light-hearted romance and the kiss precognition plotline provides unique fresh narrative. The cast of characters are all likeable and relatable in some way; and the romance is just so sweet it could give you cavities! The story is essentially a lighthearted, entertaining romcom, which is amusing and fast paced. It isn't too steamy - there is some sex, but it's all very PG-13. This book is a really fun, girly read and although it does touch on a couple of more serious topics, eg Alzheimer’s disease - it's all pretty positive. This is definitely a must read for fans of chick lit novels. As the blurb says, this really is the perfect summer read - it would certainly be a good choice to pack in your suitcase if you're going on holiday! Many thanks to NetGallery and Quercus Books for allowing me the opportunity to get an early copy of this debut novel - i'll definitely be checking out any future books by Molly James.
She is having some kind of vision of what will happen in the future when she kiss someone for the first time . So she still hasn 't find the One . At her best friends wedding party she kiss three men and one of them is her match . The only problem is that she was drunk and she can 't remember who she kissed . But she is determined to find him . What will happen when she finds him ? I loved the group of her friends .
I received this book from netgalley and the puclisher as an arc . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
This book is literally beautiful. It will make you feel those first love butterflies along with the amazing beautiful characters. It is full of love, hope joy and is really gorgeous. I loved the characters and was invested in this book from the very first moment.
