This was a sweet second chance romance where the one who ended the relationship thought they knew better and they were so young that they were making the decision they thought was best.
But when the one they let get away comes back to town with a very successful music career and a son its hard not to have those old feelings.
This book went from past to present as we learned about their growing love, breakup and seeing each other out at a concert interspersed with planning the town fair, reconnecting and thinking about what could have been.
Being the one that gets left behind cause going away to college wasn't in the budget doesn't seem fair when listening to everyone's experiences but it's also not fair to make decisions for others. But maybe they needed that break and the timing wasn't right when they first dated.
I loved all the inspirations for the songs and Hank was just the sweetest and most patient. Sandy just didn't feel like enough and kind of was existing without living the life she wanted after they broke up. She didn't even realize it until he came back. Love is such a beautiful thing but can also bring out other insecurities and emotions that lie to you.
Thank you berkleyromance and netgalley for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for providing the ARC.
Where do I even begin with this book?
This story was so sweet and heartfelt. You felt Sandy's anguish at feeling stuck in her small hometown, at letting go of the one thing that made her the happiest, and then having to face that decision years later. Her pain felt so real and visceral that I had a hard time not crying reading about how she felt like she had to give up on her dreams and how she made a life that she was content with, even if she wasn't truly happy.
And Hank, who loved her this whole time, who wanted it to be her since the beginning, but waited for her to realize and understand what he already knew. This book was so emotional and loving that I couldn't put it down.
Another wonderful book from Kerry Winfrey
I am always a huge fan of second chance romances and this book is like a big warm hug.
Sandy and Hank were high school sweethearts and madly in love with big plans to get out of their small town. When Sandy’s plans fall through she’s stuck at home while Hank is off at college. She pushes him away in hopes he can achieve his dreams. Fifteen years later he’s back in town and Sandy can’t help but wish she had a second chance.
This is such a sweet book about second chances and also finding yourself through hard times. Hank and Sandy have such palpable chemistry that you can’t help but cheer for them.
I am a Kerry Winfrey stan. Her books always make me feel so happy and good inside!
Thank you to Berkley for this e-copy! All thoughts are my own.
Just Another Love Song by Kerry Winfrey came out yesterday and it's a fun small town second chance romance!
Sandy lives in a small Ohio town and she's currently happy with her life despite her grand plans to follow her dreams and leave until Hank her high school boyfriend (and kinda famous country singer) returns home. She starts to think about what might have been but doesn't want anything to do with her ex. Until they are forced to work together to organize the local street fair...
I love small town romances and it was fun that the author based this on her own hometown so this was fun to read! Told through a few flashbacks to their teenage years and the present this was a sweet second chance romance. Sandy was a little challenging for me to love at points but I loved her friendships and how much she loved he hometown.
There were such fun and quirky characters that helped give this a wonderful vibe and I didn't want to put it down! If you love small town romances or second chances pick this one up!
My first Kerry Winfrey and definitely NOT my last! I absolutely loved this second chance lovers romcom. Set in a small town with some quirky minor characters, it really makes the story even better. I really enjoyed the flashbacks to know exactly what happened between Hank and Sandy. I highly recommend you read this one!!!
*Thank you @berkleyromance and @letstalkbookspromo for the #gifted copy in exchange for an honest review and awesome buddy read!!*
Second chance romance, and flashbacks that build the backstory. Add in some great side characters and you've got a small town romance that was a little too reminiscent of a Hallmark movie for me. It's not that complex, just a sweet little story.
This was a really sweet, feel-good second chance at love, rockstar romance between two high school sweethearts. I enjoyed Hank and Sandy so much! Sandy feels stuck when her scholarship money falls through and she can't go away to college with Hank. In order to 'set him free' she breaks up with him and he goes on to become a big rockstar.
Years later Hank shows up in town newly divorced with his small son and looking for a second chance with Sandy. Watching these two rekindle their relationship was enjoyable but the best part was the strong cast of secondary characters in my opinion. I loved all the banter and one liners. I wanted to shake Sandy for getting in the way of her own HEA. Hank was such a swoony hero.
This was a fade to black, closed door romance which usually isn't my fav but I didn't mind it with this book. Recommended for fans of Sarah Adams's When in Rome. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
3.5 rounded up
This was a sweet, closed door, small town romance with a lot of community relationships throughout. I enjoyed the parts with Hank and Henry the most, and I didn’t care for all the fluff with Honey. I wish more lyrics from last songs about Sandy were sprinkled in throughout, maybe as chapter taglines. I will also always want dual pov too! Overall this was a cute lighthearted read!
Thank you Berkley for my gifted arc in exchange for a honest review.
I stayed up all night to finish this one! I told myself just one more chapter- and hello, I got to the end.
To the point, I forgot to write my review. This was one book I wish I could steal the male MC 😅😅😅 Like. Who doesn't want a Hank Tillman in their life? 🥰
First love, small town romance and a second chance at love with a single dad trope - all add up to a great story for me! I really enjoyed reading their story and the way it all unfolded. I've never read a Kerry Winfrey book but now I want to read her backlist. I really loved her writing style and this was an easy, enjoyable, swoon-worthy good read.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy.
What a cute small town romance! I loved that Sandy was dorky woman with a love for painting and reading. I also loved the small town, close friendship, and funny town people! I felt like I was watching an episode of Gilmore Girls! I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, so this was right up my alley!
Kerry Winfrey has a way with romances and Just Another Love Song did not disappoint. I think it may even be my favorite book from her so far. The 90s country song references alone was like sitting down with an old friend.
Sandy and Hank were high school sweethearts from the small town of Baileyville. He went away to college, while she remained home to attend community college. Feeling like she no longer fit into his life, Sandy broke it off with Hank and went into a dark place. With the love and encouragement from her BFF Honey, she finds her way back to life….Until she runs into Hank 15 years later in the soda aisle of the grocery store.
Second chance love is one of my favorite tropes in the romance genre, and Winfrey got the feelings and longing right in her wonderful story telling. I love how wholesome her characters are without the over-the-top craziness and drama. This makes the reconnection more genuine. And I love a good steamy romance novel, but this closed door book is just as “feelings worthy”.
5 stars
A small town, second-chance romance where the love interest is a single dad who also happens to be a country superstar???????? This book had pretty much every romance trope under the sun and I ATE. IT. UP. Kerry Winfrey has very quickly become an auto-read author for me because she just has *such* a knack for creating the world of her stories. Of course I loved the relationship between Sandy and Hank at the center of it all, but this book truly shone in the dynamics of the side characters and the small town vibes and my heart is just very full! My only real issue with that one was the dreaded third-act conflict, but I can't even really fault it much for that because the epilogue was absolutely adorable. Anyway this was precious and I cannot wait to read anything and everything that Kerry Winfrey puts out next! Definitely recommend if you're looking for a fun new romance to dive into.
CW: divorce
I have not read any books by Kerry Winfrey, but this will not be my last. I loved the idea of a Second Change Romance. I had not really heard that term before because I do not read romance books that often, but I do Love Hallmark movies. Those films have second chance romances in them all the time! So, for me, this was right up my alley.
I have two words for you right off the bat, "Hotpants Ed." This is a great book that grabs you right away. When Sandy and Hank are high school sweethearts, they decide they are going to get out of their town together. Sandy, sadly, does not get to leave with Hank, and so they decide to part ways. Hank later becomes a country music star, alt-country, and then finds himself back in his hometown. In the years that have passed, Sandy has come to enjoy her life, but when Hank returns old feelings come bubbling up. With Hank interested, but Sandy holding back, what will happen? Will get that second chance after all?
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I could see why some people enjoyed this book, but it was just not for me.
What I liked:
-country singer love interest
-second chance romance is a favorite trope of mine
-the writing was well done
What I didn’t care for:
-no chemistry/romance at all in what I read
-too slow burn for me
-syrupy sweet plot. I missed the angst!
-the old-timey-ness of the setting. I didn’t feel like I was reading a book set in 2022.
-Sandy pining after Hank for 15 years and never leaving her small town to do anything about it.
I’m sad to leave a review like this because Kerry Winfrey usually writes books I absolutely love. But this was a huge miss for me.
I have read all of Kerry Winfrey's romances, and this one is my favorite.
Sandy and Hank were inseparable high school sweethearts with big dreams for the future. Then Hank went off to college to follow his dreams, and Sandy stayed home.
Fast forward 15 years. Sandy is still at home- living in her own home, running successful business, an active member of the community. Single. She and Hank have managed to avoid each other on his rare trips home. Until now.
I really enjoyed this second chance romance in a quintessential small town setting. The side characters were memorable and Hank and Sandy's interactions were swoon-worthy. This was a sweet, enjoyable story.
Thanks to the publisher for a copy. All opinions are my own.
y'all know I love me a small town romance! I liked that I understood Sandy's motives for ending things with Hank when they were younger. I do wish that I had a little more development of their relationship as adults. I loved the side characters and this town.

This is my first book by Kerry Winfrey and I had an absolute blast reading it. It's a second chance, small town romance and I adore both of those tropes so so much. Sandy is still living in the town she grew up in and is going about her business when BAM, she sees Hank, her high school boyfriend, at the grocery store. And from there throughout the rest of the book, we can see how much these two still like and love each other. I really loved reading both of their love stories as the author provided flashbacks to their first meeting to their relationship ups and downs, including the breakup. It was well done and didn't take away from the rest of the story.
In addition to a fun love story, we also meet the important people in Sandy's life and they are amazing. From her best friend Honey to her parents and other townspeople, it is obvious how much a part of this town Sandy is and why she struggles with the idea of leaving after being there for so very long. I loved the setting and all of the secondary characters almost as much as I loved Sandy and Hank.
This will definitely not be my last Kerry Winfrey! I'm giving it 3.5 stars
This is a well-written small town, second chance romance. Sandy and Hank thought they’d be together forever when they were in HS, but Hank went away to college and she stayed in Ohio and now owns her own business. Hank loved music, and he has become a well-known country music singer. He was briefly married and has a 5 year old son.
Hank comes back home with his son and he and Sandy start spending time together. Sandy thought her life was pretty settled until she realizes how much she misses Hank.
I enjoyed this sweet romance, 4 stars.
Synopsis:
Two high school sweethearts get a second chance at their perfect ending in this charming new romance by Kerry Winfrey, author of Very Sincerely Yours.
Once upon a time, Sandy Macintosh thought she would have her happily ever after with her high school sweetheart, Hank Tillman. Sandy wanted to be an artist, Hank was the only boy in town who seemed destined for bigger things, and they both had dreams to escape town together. But when Sandy’s plans fell through, she stayed in their small town in Ohio while Hank went off to Boston to follow his dreams to be a musician, with the promise to stay together. Only that plan fell through, too.
Fifteen years later, Sandy runs a successful greenhouse while helping her parents with their bed and breakfast. Everything is perfect…until Hank rolls back into town, now a famous alt-country singer with a son in tow. She’s happy with the life she’s built by herself, but seeing Hank makes her think about what might have been. There aren’t enough cliché love songs in the world to convince Sandy to give Hank another chance, but when the two of them get thrown together to help organize the town’s annual street fair, she wonders if there could be a new beginning for them or if what they had is just a tired old song of the past.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.
