This book was really interesting! I was intrigued by the storyline and that's what initially drew me to this title. I also really love the cover artwork.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest, personal review. This book had me intrigued with magic and time travel, however, it seemed to provide more teen angst than it did the time travel (although it is a YA novel to be fair). There is romance for the romantics out there, with the main protagonist Nat crushing over the secretive Braxton. She is also framed for theft, extorted and attends an academy where they learn things like sword fighting. She has to learn who she can trust, if anyone, her new environment. An interesting read, but I am hoping the follow up story is even better.
I remember enjoying Alyson Noel’s Riley Bloom series when I was a kid, so to see one of my favorite childhood authors writing a YA fantasy romance was exciting! I really loved Stealing Infinity- my only complaint was that this book could’ve been a lot shorter as the pacing was kind of slow and there were some filler scenes that didn’t feel needed. Otherwise, this was a really entertaining read!
I was blown away by this book. I read it in one sitting, staying up late just to finish it. You will fall in love with Natasha and witness a great character that takes you by surprise in the best way. She was so three-dimensional and realistic while in the midst of a fantasy world that I think that many will be able to relate to her. I was not expecting the time travel element to be so much fun and add to the story so much, but it really made the story for me.
Thank you Alyson Noël and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to discover such an incredible story and character!
So excited I got to read this. It's time travel but yet different from other books regarding time travel that I've read before. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what happened next. I can't wait for book 2!
This was a fairly good book to be a debut! In my personal opinion I was hoping for more about the time traveling,, I also felt like the book could be a lot shorter because in the middle it was a lot of filler scenes. All in all it was an okay read!
Stealing Infinity by Alyson Noel was an okay YA fantasy but it wasn't my favorite. The characters seemed two dimensional and a bit whiny for my taste. I usually love a dark academia/ school for the gifted vibe, but this one felt trite and unoriginal. It was also a slow read, especially the first third of the book. I did finish it but it felt like It took forever. I usually love Alyson's books so I'm hoping her next few are better than this one.
Thank you to the publisher for this advanced reader copy.
Ahhh, okay so this book is great for people who:
- like the thought of time traveling
- mysterious boarding schools
- romance heavy fantasy
- the Ruby read series
This is a very romance heavy story, usually not my type but this was done so well. I just finished probably the 12th reread of
"Evermore" by the author before I started this and there are literal worlds between the authors older series and this. I'm very picky with my romance and I can not, FOR REAL, stand toxic romance. If wouldn't want to spend time with a male character from a book in real time, it's a shitty romance. And I would never spend one minute in a room with Damen from "Evermore". Braxton, the main male character in this book is by no means not flawed, but also not toxic.
And that's what I need - so overall an enjoyable romance plot that gave me butterflies.
The main plot is about the MC Natascha who stumbles almost head first into a mysterious boarding school founded by a billionaire, between figuring out why SHE was picked to attend she navigated through memories of her past and father, time traveling ?! and falling in love. If you are a fan or even just liked the concept of the Ruby Red series I truly recommend this book to you, you will get a very interesting perspective on time traveling, glimpses in the past and some romance.
I can't wait to know how the story evolves, I have so many questions I want answers to, so many characters I need to know more about.
This is probably more of a 3.5/3.75 read but I gladly bumped it up to 4 stars
The plot in this book was really unique and intriguing, and I loved it. I havent read an Alyson Noel book in 10 years so I didnt know what to expect, however I loved it. They do an amazing job at creating tension and deceit amongst the diverse cast of characters.
It was fast paced throughout and I couldn't put it down. It ends with an unbelievable cliffhanger with so much unresolved, and I cant wait for the next book in the series.
I absolutely love this story! Natasha is a girl who is on the road to self destruction. She ends up getting recruited into a secret society of sorts. However, this society is anything but legal.
I loved the plot in this book. It's such a unique and intriguing set up. The author does an amazing job at creating tension and deceit amongst the cast of characters. The cast of characters is vastly diverse. Each one playing a different role, but you never know who you can trust. The characters are well drawn out. The pacing was fast I couldn't put it down. It leaves you with an unbelievable cliffhanger with so much unresolved. I seriously can't wait until the next book in the series comes out. I'll definitely be waiting for it.
Overall great book and storytelling.
I honestly do not remember requesting this book. It’s not my preferred fantasy subgenre, but I enjoyed it
When you can’t go back, the only choice left is to move forward.
Stealing Infinity was a unique fantasy that kept me guessing! With a premise of traveling into the past, and an academy setting, this book completely intrigued me. If you love young adult, academy or time traveling, then you'll want this one on your tbr!
“What the hell is happening?”
Last thing I remember, before I black out, is the feel of Braxton’s arms breaking my fall.
“Oh darling,” he says. “I’m afraid you’re about to find out.”
Natasha seemed to be struggling to get by. Not only in life, but financially and with her mother too. Her dad disappeared when she was younger and her one constant was her fabulous friend, Mason. She also had Elodie as a friend, but she seemed to have 'bad friend choice' written all over her lol. Elodie was flashy, people were obsessed with her and she took Natasha on adventures instead of being in school, where she belonged. After being arrested and kicked out of school, Natasha was shipped off to a remote school where her entire world completely changed.
“You’ve been accepted into Gray Wolf Academy.” He waits, like he’s expecting me to be grateful or something.
“Yeah, no thanks.” I stab another forkful of buttermilk pancake and lift it to my mouth. Taking great satisfaction in the way Braxton stares at me in shock.
I liked Natasha right away. I loved how confident she could be. She was so sure of herself, even when she faltered. So as we slowly started to learn about this new world, it was right along with Natasha. Not all was what it seemed, and I wanted to scream at her to be suspicious. Yes she was given weird answers at times, but she was smart and cunning. So I was thankful when she started to put stuff together. Add in that we got to see memories from her past and it completely rounded out this story. Those memories were like clues leading to her future. And I couldn't wait to see how it all went together.
On my waist, I can feel the ghost of his hand.
There’s a place on my neck where his lips continue to haunt.
And I have no idea what to do with any of that.
Braxton, hmmm. I wasn't exactly sure what to think of him. Could he be trusted? I loved how he got flustered around Natasha and that he made Natasha feel cared for. But he could also be hot and cold with her. So there were many moments I desperately wished we knew his thoughts. I understood why she liked him, but call me a skeptic....I hesitated with him. So when Killian stepped onto the pages, he garnered all of my attention. Yes he intrigued me too, but there was just something about him that so easily captured my attention. He was brave, heroic, took chances and caused all of the butterflies. I don't think I've ever said this before, but I'm hoping for a love triangle because goodbye Braxton and hello Killian. Please? Pretty please?
The pieces of the puzzle are coming together, but I’ve got a terrible feeling about the image they’re forming.
Stealing Infinity was a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to reading that next book! With so many other characters in the pages, I had some strong opinions and I can't wait to see if I'm right down the road. And I loved that this book started in the past, her father gave us a glimpse that was filled with so much knowledge. So after finishing this story, I went back and read that prologue and eeps, soooo many things clicked into place! I highly recommend doing that too! Finishing that last page we were left at a good stopping point but also left us wanting more! Come on next book!
With my back against the wall, I crouch low in the shadows, head bent in submission, hands pressed together as though praying for redemption.
Whoever it is, they’re in for a surprise.
I am not the broken girl they’re expecting to find.
One of the authors who made me fall in love with reading, namely fantasy, with her Immortals saga, and so when I saw this book on NetGalley I couldn't resist!
A writing that makes us dive into the story, a story that is original, complex but, above all, intriguing with a touch of Six of Atlas with all that aura of a secret school full of special people. Add to this the element of time travel and we have a recipe for a good time! Although I loved the plot, I confess I had some difficulty in relating to the characters because we don't know much about them. This is a 1st book in a saga and focuses more on the presentation of the world and context but I still would have liked to see more of other elements. Even the main character herself, Natasha, the character we know best as we follow the story from her point of view, is explored too superficially. The remaining characters all left me on the back foot, it is not at all easy to make judgments and understand who is and who is not trustworthy, this aspect pleases me and displeases me at the same time, they are all too well versed in the art of disguise ahahah I was especially intrigued by Braxton and Arthur and can't wait to unravel these two but, it was Killian, a character who appeared more towards the end who truly won me over and I think that, even if he turns into a villain, he will always have my heart! I'm just sorry that a love triangle is guessed there, I'm not the biggest fan but at the same time I confess I'm curious, especially considering the animosity between Braxton and Killian... 🤭
The ending was amazing and left a perfect path for the next book, the mystery left open in a good cliffhanger, lots of unanswered questions and theories! A book I recommend and a saga I can't wait to continue!
PS: 1st time I meet a character with my name, and she had to be kinda bitchy... Well at least she brings entertainment and uses the name Elodie with confidence ahahah

Take a trip to Gray Wolf Academy...and have the time of your life...or is it the life of your time? I get that confused. (LOL!) Seriously though, this is a topsy turvy time tripping read that let's you see just how far some will go to have everything they ever wanted...but it being the first book and all, I'm pretty sure the lesson will be on THEM, not our leading lady. (Just a hunch.) After all, you can control a lot of things in this world, but PEOPLE...like effectively and shutting down their own desires, wants, needs, and thoughts...I don't care what kind of great thinker you are, never gonna happen. Natasha is just the girl to prove me right too! Sure, she missteps several times over, but that's the thing about being human, we make mistakes...and it doesn't help that she's trying to get her mind wrapped around the INSANITY that is the academy anyway. I mean the things they can do, the things SHE can do, the way the people are really only looking out for number one...though Braxton may be an exception, but I'm still not quite sold on him, devilishly handsome as he may be...it's definitely jumping into the slipstream with both feet. Can't wait to see what's in store for them next...at least those that are still there. Oh an there's definitely a bit of sparkage between Braxton and Natasha, so watch for the fireworks!
This was a really great read. It's been a while since I read an Alyson Noel book (I really need to pick up the Beautiful Idols series) and I had a great time with this new world. The idea of time travelers is just so much fun, and I just wanted to know what the heck was going on!
I will say, that I don't get art. It can be pretty, but I'm not one who will appreciate it. But then unlike the tirade about social media that was made, I don't post to social media to show that I've been somewhere, seen something, because I don't post to social media about such things, because I don't want to go to such places. So I don't know what Arthur Blackstone would make of me.
A lot of this book is about learning about this school-and learning who the trust, the secrets that people are keeping, the hidden agendas. By the end, Natasha has become a player, but she still has a long way to go. I do not trust most of them!
I'm excited to learn more about some of the secrets that Braxton and Killian are keeping, they seem to be the ones that she'd most likely to get answers from. But I also want to know more about the Timekeepers, because I'm pretty sure Arthur Blackstone should not succeed in his plans for the antikythera mechanism.
This was a really great read, and I can't wait for the sequel!
This book definitely was a slow starter but it picked up midway through.
I saw a review call this a “Wattpad” book, and I truly do not get these vibes. I think it was a book type I had never read before but a book I am so glad I found.
I am very upset that book two is not out yet because it requires a book two immediately after completing book one.
One major think I could not stand is the number of chapters. I felt there were too many unneeded chapter breaks. After every page on my iPad a new chapter started. I learned some people enjoy this, I did not. Some chapter breaks made sense but others did not.
I would recommend this book and I can’t wait for book two.
Nat is set up and sent to a special boarding school of sorts
But it's a lot more than that
Turns out time travel is real and the eccentric billionaire who owns the school is sending people back in the past to find a device.
And nat just might be the key to it
Time travel
Rennaisance
Romance
Such a captivating story, had me hooked from the first chapter. There were moments I was a bit lost but I quickly caught up on the story. I enjoy the academy setting. School settings bring me back to my teen years of reading. The characters were interesting and the plot had me reeling. cant wait to read more by this author!
Fantastic book, I honestly cannot wait for my 14 yr old to read this story. I know it will grab her attention right away. The characters are fantastic. Natasha, you just cannot help feeling for her. She goes through so much, and there are so many twists and turns. I loved the plot, and the world building. I thought they kept a nice pace, and the characters develop with the plot. I typically don't read anything outside the romance genre, but I was so taken with this story, I didn't miss the spice.
The story is so well told, and the time travel was handled in such a way I hadn't read before, and I loved it. I said this before and I will say it again, I love the fantasy, and paranormal because the author can pretty much do as they see fit with the story. Very well told, I cannot wait for book #2.
Alyson Noel’s young adult novel “Stealing Infinity” is a fascinating, trippy, and sometimes unexpected story.
The novel is told from a first person point of view, and because we only have Natasha’s understanding of the happenings, there’s a lot of mystery surrounding events, people, and why things happen.
Instead of a summary or teaser, I encourage you to read the blurb. The blurb won me over and got me excited about the book.
What I liked:
The beginning of the book is fascinating. Natasha’s a struggling student, making some questionable choices, and the reader experiences events that are bizarre in a tangled, trippy, mysterious way.
The story is fast-paced and intriguing. There’s a slow burn romance.
Early on, the reader learns not to trust anyone or anything. Each new revelation raises more questions.
Piecing the story together becomes part of the fun of the book. Add in sinister, mysterious elements to make a gripping, enticing story. This is the first book in a series, so, spoiler, expect a cliff hanger.
What I Wasn’t Crazy About:
The story takes off at a running pace and hooked me, but there were a few drawbacks for me.
In the beginning, I found a couple of events so unbelievable they pulled me out of the story. Near the end, there’s a brief effort to address those.
Plus, at Gray Wolf Academy, no one explains anything. There’s a concerted effort by students, faculty, and leaders to keep Natasha and the reader in the dark. I quickly grew tired of the strategy. It seemed pointless, cruel, gimmicky, and a terrible teaching strategy.
There are a couple of predictable “twist,” but they didn’t hurt the story.
Recommendation:
My first two gripes bugged me until more than halfway through the story, but the twists, the mysteries, and puzzles outweighed my frustrations.
If you read the blurb and loved it, then read this book. Also, if you like mysteries and puzzles, give the book a try–I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
This is definitely an excellent beginning to a series, and I’m looking forward to reading the other books.
This is one of my top reads so far this year.
A big thanks to NetGalley for an ARC copy of “Stealing Infinity.”
