Kendall has always resented the family's Texas ranch. The youngest and only girl in her family, her brothers always made fun of her mistakes, so she didn't try again when she failed. Now, many years later she lives in Philadelphia working as a marketing manager at a family owned company. When her grandfather died his will says all family employees are fired and must earn their own way.

Kendall has a job opportunity on a ranch in Texas to improve marketing of their expensive beef product to attract a top burger joint. First she needs to brush up on her limited ranching skills and knowledge. She heads to Second Chance, ID a town owned by her extended family.

Upon arrival she meets Finn and his daughter. As a single dad who lost his wife to cancer and recently had surgery himself to remove a cancerous melanoma, Finn's struggles to keep his ranch solvent. A bargain is reached and Kendall moves into the bunkhouse and a sort of ranch internship begins.

They're attracted at first sight but don't act on their feelings. He's patient, forgiving, and not at all what Kendall expected. As their feelings escalate so too dies the ranch and Finn's medical issues. Can they look beyond their differences to make a relationship work? Will Kendall continue to TX for the potential job, leaving Finn and his daughter behind?

Although part of a series this can be read as a standalone story. It is worth it!

This is a Clean Cowboy Single Father Hate to Love Romance. I really love the characters in this book, and that little girl is so cute and funny. The animals in this book were also everything I needed. This book had me laughing at times which was so great. The romance was not cute and fun, but It was a slow build between two people that fought it so hard. I also loved all the ranch work in this book. This was a short book, but it was really well done. I really enjoyed this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Melinda Curtis) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Melinda Curtis’ next installment in The Mountain Monroes series, Healing the Rancher, is rife with heart, warmth, and humor…for the majority, the humor is driven by a precocious four year old little cowgirl. There are several interlocking themes that are woven throughout the story, all tying very nicely together to bring a small town ranch, its inhabitants, humans and four legged alike, to life.

With quite an entertaining cast of characters…including the four legged variety…the story is touching and heartwarming. Though this is a long running series, it’s not necessary to read all the books in order, the author does a fine job with the backstories for the pertinent characters.

I’ve read most of this author’s books, she never ceases to steal my heart with each and every one of her stories.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
