Oh my goodness! This was a bit like reading a Karin Slaughter book. It is certainly not for the faint of heart, but I flew through this book. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. I would honestly rate this at a 4.5 star if that were an option. I'm glad I was given the opportunity to listen to this one because the narrator did an excellent job. The characters are interesting and flawed, just like i like them. This would make a great series. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a darker, grittier type of thriller.

The Echo Man by debut author Sam Holland is a riveting edge of your seat thriller with a twist on the copy cat serial killer trope. This murderer doesn't play favorites and with each kill copies a different serial killer from Charles Manson to The Golden State Killer. At first the police think the murders aren't related but Jessica, a suspect in hiding, figures out it's the same person.

More than just a police procedural, this daunting psychological thriller has in depth characters from suspended detective Nate Griffin, a survivor of the killer, to Jessica, a traumatized mother accused of arson and killing her husband.

I am in awe of the multi voice performance by narrator Jodie Harris giving each one a distinctive personality. The connections each character has to one another, the killer's reveal and the mind blowing epilogue make this an outstanding debut.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

25% in and I didn't really care to finish or not. So at this time I'm not finishing it. Might pick it up again later.

The Echo Man has a great premise for anyone who enjoys reading true crime. There is a serial killer echoing the crimes of other serial killers. As you read each about each crime, you get to test yourself. Can you match the crime to the original killer? When it came to that, this book was great.

I wish I could connect more with the characters. Many seemed to be written just like every other crime novel. There are boxes being checked all over the place. It made it difficult to connect with them in any meaningful way. Also, from the little we do know about them, they weren’t that likable.

There were a lot of coincidences that made this story work. There would have to be. Sometimes it seems like a trope. How often are the cops really this personally connected to the crimes? And if they are, would they be investigating? I see why some of it was necessary. You have to suspend belief to read all kinds of fiction. It just sometimes crossed a line that made me roll my eyes.

Aside from being slightly predictable and formulaic, I really enjoyed reading this book. Suspend belief and just go along for the ride.

A gruesome, graphic, intense, dark, eerie read. Fast paced page turner that had me on the edge of my seat. With a jaw dropper of a conclusion

The Echo Man pieces together the story of a killer copy cat. The book follows multiple perspectives, which from the audiobook was hard to distinguish between which perspective. I found each new chapter to be a bit confusing. It was helpful to also have a ebook copy to bridge my comprehension. The story shows very intimately the perspective of killing and crime scenes, and the details pushed my comfort level to the brink at some parts. It was an enjoyable read nonetheless.

This is definitely not my usual read.
The Echo Man is a serial-killer copycat, and we get to read about his kills in vivid detail. Since this book is written from multiple points of view, we also get his description of what he’s doing and his thoughts and reactions to killing.
It’s definitely disturbing and uncomfortable, but it’s also a great story with well-developed characters and lots of twists, turns, and shocks.
I was pretty gleeful about figuring out the true identity of the serial murder… and then another twist!
If you can handle gore (it’ll be a while before I try again), you will like this one.
I listened to the audio, and the narrator and sound quality is great.

I read to 20% and just couldn't continue further. The level of graphic violence was too much for me, the characters were unlikable, and the story was too slow to develop.

Thanks for an opportunity to read this ARC. It wasn't for me but it does;t mean it won't be for others.

This one starts out as a police procedural but then morphs into more of a psychological thriller with a hint of true crime. The tension, the twists and the chase are incredible. There is a copycat killer on the loose and the detectives need to catch him. Jessica’s husband is murdered and she is on the run to try and prove her innocence.

I enjoyed this one overall and would recommend it. With that said I did find it disturbingly graphic especially in regard to the rape, torture and murder scenes. If you pick this one up just keep in mind I think there is every trigger warning imaginable.

I think this was a very strong debut novel and I will be curious to see what the author writes next.

The Echo Man by Sam Holland is a complex thriller. The author excelled at vibrant gruesome descriptions that I could envision such details it was scary. The twists in the story were pulse-pounding and so cleverly written. Kudos to the author for not letting me figure out the Echo Man until the very end! The narration performance by Jodie Harris was spot on. She really fit the characters and had perfect emotions for the scenes. I think this book can fit in several categories as thriller, mystery and horror due to the gruesome descriptions. The added bit of romance was a plus for me, as I love that genre as well. Thank you #NetGalley and #Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this pre-release audiobook. It was very well done.

The Echo Man was definitely a 5 star for me. I’m a true crime junky so I was excited about listening to this.
The plot was twisted and mysterious with a lot of graphic dialogue. This is about a serial killer and no details were left out.
I felt like there was a lot of MC and the story just get better as it goes along. If I had one word for this book at would be “broken”. Many turns of events kept me guessing and fearful. At time I couldn’t work anything out! (A good thing) Near the end it was so suspenseful. Wow! I would love to see this turn into a movie. The author did a great job. Definitely one of my favorites mystery, crime authors.
I chose to listen to this book on audio and the narrator was Jodie Harris and her performance was a 5 star also. She added a special touch and I highly recommend listening to this. It’s 11 hours and 49 minutes.
Thanks Dreamscape Media via NetGalley. This was so good.
My review will be on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon, FB, BB and B&N.

If you are looking for a new approach on a crime thriller, this is your book! It’s suspenseful, dark and a new take on a copycat killer. The killer doesn’t just copy any old fictional serial killer, but our real life monsters from around the world.
Can I say that I enjoyed guessing which killer was being copied? As a true crime fan, who knows a lot about notorious serial killers, I had a lot of fun listening to the crime scene description and pairing it to the right killer, before the detectives figured it out. More then once I screamed out loud who they were copying.
There were several characters I was suspicious of. I did not predict the end, or the big twist after what I thought was the end. It was seriously twisted and incredibly dark. It satisfied all my needs for a perfect thriller. As an audiobook it heightened my experience. The narrator’s voice was exactly what the book needed for accents, tones and atmosphere. I definitely recommend this as an audiobook.

Warning - this book is grisly, and graphic, and all serial killer-ish. And I loved it!

There's a serial killer who seems to be a fan of other serial killers. He's recreating thein town. One who is a fan of other serial killers and is recreating killings and keeping the police guessing as to what in the world is going on.

Jess Ambrose - her home burns, and while she and her daughter escape, her husband is not so lucky. The police consider her a suspect, so she escapes from the hospital and is on the run. She teams up with Nate Griffin, who is currently suspended from the force.

The bodies just keep coming and the questions continue. While I did suspect the actual killer, I didn't figure out the whole story. And I admit I suspected several people at some point.

Excellent debut from this author and will definitely read more!

Thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media , and Sam Holland for the audio ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Ok, now that was dark and intense!

Trigger warning: be aware that this is a violent and highly descriptive book in regards to the crimes that occur.

What a clever story to tell. There are always tales of the "Copycat" killers out there, but what about copying multiple previous serial killers? This took that twist and ran with it. I am definitely that person that tries to solve things before the end of the story and there were a couple times where I was questioning what I thought would be the outcome; which showed it was more complex and not as straight-forward/easy to guess.

It goes through multiple points of view, which I think brought a nice dynamic to the story by giving it extra layers and bringing the reader's empathy for different characters to the forefront. With that being said, it also showed the effect that prevailing accounts of a person can have on us. This was also a psychological experience for the reader/listener trying to get inside the head of each character with all their past traumas and current life goals. Everyone carries secrets and burdens that they don't want others to have to deal with or be aware of.

I definitely made my way through this story very quickly as I was so engrossed with the story and needed to find out what happened. Now that it's over, I just wonder: what's next for the characters?

Thank you to the author, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ARC audiobook!

Although well narrated and fast paced, this gory yarn was, at times just too much. The final reveal of the villain was a little too convenient for me.

This is a very dark and intense crime mystery thriller. I have not read this author til now and it was an interesting read that was difficult to get through due to the graphic and violence nature of the story line. Kemper, Dahmer and Bundy are all names we know for their infamy as some of the worst serial killers in history. In “The Echo Man”, we are given the story of a police department desperately searching for someone who is replicating their kills all over again. This copycat killer is crafty, brutal, and unfortunately for the police, meticulous. The old crimes and their scenes are recreated perfectly - but this time, the killer keeps getting away. The characters, as in all good fiction, are troubled. Cara Griffin seems to be the most untroubled, but that doesn’t mean trouble doesn’t find her along the way. I like the way the author teases out their problems over the course of the novel. This book is a mystery/thriller in which the characters race against time to uncover a killer. It is a fast-paced read that I found hard to walk away from. I barreled through this book, working to solve the mystery for myself. I did work it out in part just before the big reveal, but for the majority of the book I was left guessing. The book is well developed, and the characters are engaging. The character’s backgrounds and stories were laid out well, making me feel invested in what was happening to them. The author’s attention to detail in describing the scenes mimicking the world’s most famous serial killers. The author’s strong knowledge and research on the serial killers who the copycat chose was on display. The details and descriptions were on point factually, which kept me engaged in the storyline.

Thank you to Netgaley, the author and publisher for the opportunity.

Police face off against a brilliant serial killer with a unique in this page turning police procedural.

I loved a number of things about this book but my favorite thing was the MO for the serial killer. The copy cat thing has been done countless times but this one took a refreshingly unique approach to it that was both intriguing and creepy. I also thought the characters were really and well developed; you got a look at their intimate lives without it feeling like you accidentally downloaded erotica.

The only thing that kept me from loving this book is that's definitely a dense police procedural, rather than the quick read mystery/thrillers, and the crime scene gore is described in detail, so it's not for the faint of heart.
