Tried to enjoy this book but it just wasn’t for me. Not sure if it was the writing style but I couldn’t connect with it.

This was a light enjoyable read. I enjoyed the cast of characters and I thought it was fun but not memorable.

I really enjoyed this one! not my favorite as there were some slow parts but it picked up towards the middle and I loved the ending!

Welcome To The Neighborhood is a fun story about the challenges of being outside of your comfort zone. The storyline is promising with an Artsy woman (Ginny) moving into the NJ suburbs and learning how to fit in or be comfortable standing out. The ending was happy and I was pleased with the character development overall. Something I appreciated was that the author did not make the main character a complete idiot just so she could have a redemption arc. She was pretty awesome and had realistic responses to the new situations she was put in(one exception, see below). The characters that you do not like upon meeting, you will despise by the end of the book. Ginny’s husband kept me guessing throughout the entire book, I could not pin down if he was good or bad (turned out he was good, phew)
My main issue with this book was how Ginny treated her amazing daughter Harri. Harri is pretty much the best you could hope for when raising a child, she is smart, kind, thoughtful, funny, and overall just good. Ginny is so desperate to fit into the neighborhood that she pushes her daughter to fit in with the “cool” girls. I found this infuriating! You have a bright and unique child and you are trying to push her to become a vapid, snotty brat. Well eager to please her mom, Harri tries her best to fit in with this group of girls and ends up acting like them. Then Ginny acts like she “dOeSn’T kNoW wHaTs GoTtEn InTo HeR” like I just wanted to shake her. Harri ends up developing an eating disorder and instead of removing her from the situation so she can get some clarity and remember who she really is, she fights with her and forces her to eat cupcakes. This really bothered me.
Overall it was an easy listen, the narration was just OK, pretty repetitive voices which makes it hard to decipher which character is speaking.

*A late ARC, but an ARC nonetheless*
I received an ARC of this book, the review is a reflection of my honest thoughts.
When I originally began listening to this book, I DNF'd it, because I thought it would be a romance as was tagged when I picked the book up. While it does have romance sprinkled in, I don't think it can be called a romance.
Ginny is a single mom living in Queens with her daughter Harry, when she meets Jeff and moves to the suburbs of New Jersey. There she is met with a new way of life. Was moving to New Jersey the best thing for her and her daughter? Can her marriage survive the distance?
I want to say that I originally DNF'd this book back in April when it was published because I had been looking for a romance and I wasn't seeing it in the first 50% when I originally read it. So when I decided it was time to play catch up with my ARCs, I decided to give this audio another shot.
Emma Love was the narrator of this book, she wasn't my favorite, but the narration wasn't horrible. I would give the Narration 3.5 stars.
For the story, once I realized and settled that the book leaned more towards the Women's Fiction tag rather than the Romance tag, I did enjoy and even cry a little. By finishing I did finally see the romance, but I still don't think there was enough of it to deem the whole book as a romance. I would more likely classify the book as Women's Fiction with a sprinkling of romance.
This book more so centered on Ginny and Harry's relationship and learning to fit in to their new lives on Elmsberry Lane. This book gave me American Housewife vibes, with like a Humphrey's from Gossip Girl vibe, because in American Housewife, they are a poor family living in a neighborhood of the rich and with Gossip girl, the humphrey's changed their ways to fit in, so I feel like that is the best way to describe the vibe I was getting from the book.
Overall I would rate the book 3.5 stars.

This story really emphasizes a sweet mother daughter relationship and the challenges of being a parent in a new situation. The neighborhood is over the top and led to so many funny moments, but also reminded me why I don't ever want to live in one like it. I just wanted to hug Harri and I think any parent will find parts of this book relatable. The audiobook is fantastic and I highly recommend listening to it.

This was a great story and a pleasure to listen to. As a single mom the plot resonated with me. The characters were well developed and easy to love and hate!

3.25 This book was an interesting women lit story but was not what I was expecting with this being labeled as a romance I expected more romance. This story follows Ginny a woman who moves in with her new husband in a perfect neighborhood. Only problem Ginny is moving into Stacey’s house ( Ginny’s new husbands ex) and meeting her friends. The story follows Ginny and Hari (Ginny’s daughter) as they navigate the new town the new bullies all while Jeff (Ginny’s husband ) is out of the country working.
This book was just not for me I was expecting more romance and less about the struggles of raising a teenage daughter. I will say it still kept me entertained and the writing was good as well just wish it was marketed better. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator she was easy to understand and was engaging. I would like to thank net galley and the publishers for a chance to read this book.

Ginny is a single artsy mom from Queens, who meets Jeff a sweet successful divorced guy from Jersey. They marry and Ginny and her 11 year old daughter Harri move to the suburbs . This is a new world for Ginny and Harri.
They are both excited to live in an upscale neighborhood until they realize that they both get to deal with the “mean girls” of society. How will they handle this new life and what impacts will it have on their relationship?
This gave me a Gilmore Girls vibe. Parts of the story were great but some of the characters drove me crazy. I did like the relationship that Ginny and Harri have. Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the advanced read copy.

Welcome to the Neighborhood by Lisa Roe is a funny and heartwarming momcom, perfect for fans of Laurie Gelman, Leslie Rasmussen, Lea Gellar, and Alexa Martin. I read this book back in the spring and the antics of Ginny’s crazy neighbors have stuck with me.
This book has a funny storyline filled with neighborhood shenanigans and awkward encounters as Ginny gets to know the other parents in her neighborhood and at her daughter’s school.
There are also more serious scenarios dealing with blended families, new friendships, and navigating the tween years. Roe blended the two vibes of the book with a perfect amount of wit and humor.
There are mean girls in both Ginny’s life and her daughter Harri’s life, and my heart went out to both characters. Female friendships are so damn hard sometimes! Roe wrote situations we’ve all dealt with, making this book very relatable for any reader - mom or not.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for what’s next from this author!

This story was cute. It reminded me of The Gilmore Girls. I liked the mother/daughter aspect and the fact that they tackle some serious issues. I liked the narrator for the audiobook. Overall, I found the story to be just ok.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.

Quick read with a great narrator. As someone who has a close relationship with their mother, I love mother/daughter stories. This one's more women's fiction than romance. As always, I love rooting for the outsider- looking to find their way in a new environment.

This book was so good. It was a quick read with a great narrator. Although the beginning was slow to pick up after a couple of chapters I was absolutely hooked!

OMG I loved this book way more than I thought I would! It was absolutely adorable in every way. I LOVED Ginny and Harri. What an adorably relatable single mother/young daughter duo. The suburban drama was just enough to add to the story, but not make it obnoxious and gross. Also, it had truly lovable and quirky side characters at the same time as having some love-to-hate ones thrown in. Finally, I have a very special place in my heart for what one of the furry side characters goes through. <3 I absolutely recommend this for a light read that ends up feeling like a big hug.

Thank you NetGalley for this Audio Arc in exchange for my honest review,
This story takes place after the wedding. I'm always a fan of seeing what happens after someone falls in love in a book. In this book Ginny falls for Jeff who is divorced living in the suburbs in New Jersey in a snooty neighborhood everything is as his ex left it. Ginny thinks this will be a good start for her daughter Harri and her to move. For her daughter to have a room of her own and everything she couldn't give to her to have now. The house with all the decorations of the Ex doesn't bother Ginny that stuff has never bothered her. She's a artist and lives a simple life. so she has to try to fit into this neighborhood of backstabbing neighbors. Jeff doesn't see any of the problem with the wives they act different around him. When Jeff gets offered a job to go over seas for "6weeks" he wants everyone to go and Ginny can't take her daughter out of school. So she's left to handle the neighborhood alone.
I was back in forth with this book. Parts I loved parts I was bored with. It doesn't; really show you them as a couple to me they shouldn't be but they don't interact until the end it feels. Also Was not a fan of how the girls bullied Harri and thats what keep me going because she deserved so much better.

I went into this book thinking it was a romance but it really wasn’t. I couldn’t really connect to these characters. The mother daughter relationship was the most interesting part of the book. But this one just wasn’t for me.

Very cute story! Loved the narration and overall storytelling. I had such a fun time listening to this one

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I really wanted to like this book but it was a little too predictable and catty for me.

Ginny has recently married after a very quick engagement. She and her daughter, Harri, have moved from their only home they have known to a Jersey suburb. Ginny soon realizes she will never fit in with the women of the neighborhood. They are nothing like her old friends and she is not sure how well Harri is going to survive in the new school. Has Ginny made the biggest mistake by marrying Jeff?!?!
Ginny is a character which everyone can relate to. At one time or another, the reader has gone through something she experiences in this book. The insecurities only women know how to create and the horror of embarrassing your kid are just a few that are well represented in this tale. I laughed and I cried for Ginny on more than one occasion.
This book is absolutely adorable. And it takes you on a ride of emotions. There were quite a few times I wanted to slap one or two of the characters. But, Ginny comes out all in one piece. And with her integrity intact. And so does Harri! The author did a fabulous job with this tween!
The narrator, Emma Love, is amazing! She has perfect inflection, especially during the “trying” times. And this book is full of them!
