Carissa Ann Lynch is at the top of my list of must-read thriller authors. Every single one of her books has gripped me from the first page and kept me guessing all the way to the very end, which, inevitably, has a twist I never see coming.

Her latest novel is no different. This fast-paced, locked room thriller gave me major Lucy Foley vibes and I absolutely loved it.

THE BACHELORETTE PARTY is a story about six women who gather in New Orleans to celebrate one of their impending nuptials. Of course all of the women are hiding secrets or holding grudges and when a game of truth or dare goes sideways, everything is on the table…including murder.

With crisp writing and sharp dialogue, Lynch takes us into the minds and hearts of each character, building tension and suspense that doesn’t let up until the bitter end. You definitely need to add this one to your library.

Thanks to Harper Collins/One More Chapter for the advance reading copy.

Love this book and this author! The characters are likable, the dialogue is crisp, and the plot line is suspenseful. I think this is the best book I have read by this author. Some books like this drag on with too much backstory before getting to the main point. This one didn't do that. I can't wait for the next book by Carissa to come out!

Rosalee is excited to marry the man of her dreams but she knows that her future Mother-in-law, Elizabeth and sister-in-law, Bri are not approving of her and pretty much look down their noses at her. She's not thrilled that her future husband's gorgeous childhood friend Georgia is coming along, Rosalee has always felt her future in law's believe Georgia is a better fit for Asher. Timid, a bit strange Tinsley who is Rosalee's cousin is there, who helped plan the weekend with Rosalee's best friend Mara. There is definitely tension between the two party planners.

6 women go to New Orleans for a Bachelorette Party, not all of them like each other. Every one of them has a secret. So what could possibly go wrong? Pretty much everything... murder included.

Told from multiple perspectives, including the detective on the case, this is definitely a whodunnit, it also which one of them ended up dead. Carissa has fast become one of my favorite authors, I find them quick engulfing reads, I look forward to her next one!

Holy cow, what a fun, intense thriller.

I am not the sharpest tool in the box and so I am aware that all the things that I loved about The Bachelorette Party a seasoned reader would hate but since the thriller genre is not my 'go-to' choice then I am going to revel in the fact that I just did not see things coming.

The story centres around the bachelorette party of Rosalee. Organised by her friends and family, the party takes off to New Orleans for a few days of fun and frivolity. However, some members of the party (in particular Rosalee's soon to be mother-in-law) are not to happy that the wedding is taking place.

Midway through the bachelorette party a body is found and everyone is a suspect.

The Bachelorette Party kept me on the edge of my seat and I genuinely had no idea who the murderer was and I loved the style of writing that included a multi-perspective narrative with updates from the detective. It was really well written and engaging.

I will be reading more from Carissa Ann Lynch.

Some of these characters are despicable. Everyone here has their own agenda but only one resorts to murder.

This story is a tangled web of lies and deceit but they connect everyone together in some way.

Is anyone here who they appear to be? Can they all just get along for 3 days? You would think you could, or at least these characters could, be civil for 72 hours. Ha!

There was something always happening and the bride-to-be was always clueless. She was so suspicious of everyone but couldn’t see anything they were doing.

It was a good read and kept my attention.

6 women, at least 6 secrets and 1 murder. in New Orleans. What happens when a bride to be, her prospective mother and sister in law, her soon to be husband's best friend and her 2 best friends get together for a weekend of indulgence? And is the ending what it really seems?

I enjoyed that the multiple povs provided a way to build the the tension within the group as the weekend progressed, as we found out each characters role and secrets. Unfortunately I felt that they didn't have distinct enough voices and therefore they all blurred into one unlikeable voice that I didn't give two hoots about.

I also felt that the location of New Orleans was underused. That city can provide such an atmospheric backdrop to a story, become a character on it's own, but the magic of this city wasn't captured here.

Overall I feel that the story could have been padded out with more characterisation of both characters and setting. It all felt a little lacking and a little rushed, especially the latter part when the investigation began.

An entertaining enough read that needed a little something more.

The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Lynch was a fantastic suspense!

I really enjoyed the characters, though some were definitely up to no good and it was fun trying to figure out who the good ones were and who was sinister.

A fantastic story with excellent twists.

A party to die for...

Rosalee is nervous for her bachelorette party, but she knows she will have a good time. She, her bridesmaids, and her in-laws are headed for New Orleans, where drinks flow and the party never stops. Her friends have gone all out for her, but things take a turn during an ill-advised game of truth or dare. When one of the women turns up dead, an investigation ensues...
I flew through this novel in one sitting, as I found it nearly impossible to put down. I hung onto every word of this thriller, desperately needing to know who was dead, and who killed them. The narrator was fantastic with voicing all of the characters and even sent a chill up my spine with some scenes. Many of the characters were mean, spiteful, and at times, downright cruel. Any of them could have been the killer, or been killed. Want to find out who? Add this to your TBR!

Six women go to New Orleans for a bachelorette party. Only 5 will survive the weekend.

Twisty, yes. But I just didn't connect to any of the characters or care who lived or died. Just not for me unfortunately.

Six women travel to New Orleans for a hen weekend, but not everybody will leave again. All six are hiding secrets from each other, and as their lives unravel, they all seem to have a motive, but who is the victim?

I liked the way The Bachelorette Party was laid out, with the identity of the victim not being revealed until late on in the story. With scams, jealousy and hatred seeping out, none of the six come out as particularly nice people, but somehow that doesn't matter. I especially liked the final reveal, which I hadn't seen coming.

A good mystery story, with plenty of action to keep you hooked.

The time honored bachelorette party and all the expected excitement that usually ensues certainly takes a turn for the worse in this mystery novel.
The focus of each chapter highlights an individual from the group . At first they speak with the explanations of their relationship with the bride and with each other. Unlike most wedding parties there is usually some common thread between them all. There is, but it’s mostly resentment, jealousy and unpleasant past history.
As the party and the book continues, these same individual voices explain what is happening in their lives that may reflect the reasons of the discord between them all. Of course they are all not aware of what is happening in each others lives, so all the animosity comes to a head in a revelation at the expense of one of the ladies.
The reader is kept in suspense as to the very end which would led you to believe they all lived happily ever after as friends after the “incident” but no….there’s another shocker right at the end.
   Totally enjoyable.

This book had a good premise but it just didn't work out for me. None of the characters were likable and the constant fat shaming from start to finish just didn't sit right with me. I'm glad the chapter headings had their names in them otherwise I wouldn't have been able to tell the characters apart. The reveal for the murder was also a bit anti climactic and all the drama felt too childish and ridiculous for a group of women to be fighting over.

This is an intricately woven mystery that totally took me by surprise. Cleverly written and with an absence of clues to assist working things out this is a total winner of a book.

If you are looking for a quick, well-paced, mystery about a bride-to-be and the death of one of her bride's maids set in New Orleans, look no further. This book is for you. There is tension between the characters. There is atmosphere, both from the lush Louisiana setting and the bachelorette party atmosphere. There are many unlikeable characters and those with dark secrets. One person ends up dead. Is it an accident, as a result of too much alcohol? Or is it a suicide? Or maybe a murder? Who knows what happened and can give answers to the events of the weekend?
Read to find out. Well done and engaging. Recommend!

**3.5-stars rounded up**

Rosalee is excited about her future marriage to Asher, but she's not necessarily looking forward to her bachelorette party, a destination event including her frigid future mother-in-law and bitchy sister-in-law. Oh, and let's not forget the inclusion of the groom's super hot, yoga instructor childhood best friend, Georgia.

Alas, it's tradition and Rosalee's best friend, Mara, as well as her slightly estranged cousin, Tinsley, have put a lot of time and effort into planning this weekend long event. They've rented a beautiful, Greek revival mansion in the Garden District of New Orleans for the occasion and it seems no expense was spared.

Unfortunately, what starts out as a mostly well-intended weekend in celebration of the future bride ends in murder and mayhem. Who did it and why?

Y'all, I really enjoyed this. I especially appreciated the way Lynch formatted the mystery. It was unique and a lot of fun!

Basically, it starts with a crime scene. You know someone is dead, but you don't know who. You really aren't given that much information at that point. Then you get alternating chapters following each of the attendees of the bachelorette party: Rosalee, the bride, Elizabeth, the mother-in-law, Bri, the sister-in-law, Mara, the bride's best friend, Georgia, the groom's best friend and Tinsley, the cousin.

This may seem like a lot, but it is done in such a way that flows seamlessly. Each of the characters is very distinct, with their own opinions, motivations and grudges. This portion of the story will take you through traveling to NOLA, all the way through to the night of the murder. Curtain closes.

The narrative picks up again as police interrogations of those involved begin. The header of each chapter doesn't even tell you who the interview is with, so you figure that out as you go along. I loved that, because you only figure out through the process of elimination, who the victim is. It was really fun. Then you get a few crime scene chapters with the police investigating the crime, filling in missing pieces along the way.

I think I may have actually been more enamored with the way the story was told than with the actual story itself. I'm sort of joking, but yeah, I was impressed with Lynch's choices for how she laid this one out. I had a lot of fun with this. I loved all the drama going on behind the scenes of what should have been a really good weekend. It was interesting to watch the dynamics among the characters change as the weekend progressed as well.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a light, fun, drama-filled whodunit. This would make a great weekend read, or a book to bring with you while you travel.

Thank you so much to the publisher, One More Chapter, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I am looking forward to reading more from Carissa Ann Lynch!
