“No successful marriage starts out on a mountain of lies.”
From the first two pages you can already feel that there is an underlying deception about to reveal itself.
The introduction to each character gives you a glimpse into their personal lives and hints at dark secrets for all. The tension within the bridal party is palpable and part one really sets the ‘before’ scene.
Second part of the book implies the victim is a particular guest of the weekend away, the victim has had altercations with all guests on the weekend away so it’s a real ‘whodunnit’ vibe by the time the police are involved. I enjoyed the way the second half is broken down via interview suspects and crime scene walk throughs.
The third part is short, I felt the book ended a little abruptly, I was kinda expecting an unusual twist or shock to finish it off but it was not to be.
This book was a really good read but I would have liked a longer ending to finalise the various characters storyline’s.
I love Carissa Ann Lynch's work and this is probably her best yet. What a wild and twisted, totally unpredictable ride. I didn't know who to root for or believe. 5 well deserved stars!
Six women come together to celebrate, but one won't return home...
They're at the perfect party location and are ready to celebrate. New Orleans has everything they could ask for: Live music, endless drinks, and eye catching attractions. The bachelorette party starts Friday night with six women ready to escape their daily lives. Drinks, games, and friendly rivalries are never a good mix. One woman won't be returning home from this eventful trip, but who will meet their fate; The bride to be, the best friend, the cousin, the sister in law, the mother in law, or the groom's friend?
This was such a fun and fast read! I enjoyed it a lot and read the majority of it in one sitting. There was so much drama and pettiness between these women, I couldn't wait to see who would say or do the next awful thing. I really enjoyed the mystery of finding out who met their fate, as well as who did it and why. The narrator, Rebecca LaChance, did a great job reading the story aloud. I definitely recommend this to those who love a fun whodunit mystery. I look forward to reading more of Carissa Ann Lynch's work!
I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Great story about an interesting Bachelorette party with lots of secrets and twists and turns between the characters.
I like how the chapters alternated from each characters POV.
A pretty good page turner. My first read from this Author and won't be my last.
Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK, One more chapter and the Author, Carissa Ann Lynch for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I got The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch for free from NetGallery for a fair an honest review.
The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch tells the story of a party to celebrate the wedding set in New Orleans involving 6 people but only 5 people will be leaving.
The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch is a run of the mill thriller with 6 different people thrown together over a weekend just because one of them is getting married.
The novel is mainly told through the eyes of the 6 people involved in the party in addition to two others which allows the story to progress,
I know there are some of you out there who do not like stories which use multiple viewpoints hover in this case the writer Carissa Ann Lynch uses this device to, allow the reader to see multipull parts of the plot from different perspectives.
For example there will be a chapter from one person's point of view where they are complaining about an individual, then the next chapter would examine the same point but from the other side.
There are times when I write book reviews that they come easy to me as the book is ever excellent so I can praise it all the way and there are others where the book is so bad that there is plenty to complain about.
The problem with, The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch, is that the book is ok, in that its not godd or bad.
The main problem for me is that the plot line has been done before, the characters while interesting none of them ever build a major reaction for example i quite like the bride and her cousin, but don’t love them.
In addition, the mother-in-law seemed to be written as this cold and judgemental person going on to say that she brought the bride some maternity trousers for Christmas because she was getting fat.
The problem using the multiple point of view is that it is very difficult for us as readers to feel anything but empathy for any character no matter how unsympathetic the writer tries to
make them.
Having said all this The Bachelorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch is still a pleasent read for any one who enjoys this style of novel.
The Bachelorette Party had me hooked after the first chapter! Like the cover says "six women, one body." The weekend in New Orleans was supposed to a party to celebrate the upcoming marriage of Rosalee. But things turn bad very fast! Party guests include a best friend, cousin, soon to be MIL and SIL, and the grooms "best friend". Everyone has a secret and resentments and jealousy are everywhere! Fast paced, easy read by a new-to-me author..
Thrilling read! I was able to connect with all of the characters and throughly enjoyed the story the author painted.
Quick easy read. I didn't guess the ending which is awesome! It grabbed me from the start. My one complaint is that none of the characters were wonderful there was nobody to really root for.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book until the detective arrived. Up to that point, the people were real, their stories were real and their interactions were real. Sadly, for me at least, the detective took the edge right off and the conclusion popped out of nowhere. A grudging 4 stars when the majority of the book scored 5.
Wow, what a page-turner. This one will keep you up all night reading just one more chapter, one more...
A bachelorette party in New Orleans, someone will end up dead. Who will end up dead and who killed them??
A really entertaining read, so well written.
The Bachlorette Party by Carissa Ann Lynch is a psychological thriller.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter (and in particular, Sara Roberts), and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My Synopsis: (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
It's supposed to be a wonderful party for the soon-to-be bride. A fun-filled weekend in New Orleans, in a beautiful old mansion. It quickly turns sour, and one of the attendees ends up dead.
Rosalee, soon to be marrying Rob, is a little on edge because she fears her husband may not be as perfect as she thought. That, and the fact that he doesn't know her biggest secret.
Mara, Rosalee's maid of honour, and best college friend, has made all the plans, and wants everything to be perfect. She's having serious money issues, but has finagled others to pay for the party.
Elizabeth, Rosalee's future mother-in-law, is not happy with her sons choice, and hopes to change the outcome. She is sure that Georgia should be her new daughter-in-law.
Bri, Rosalee's future sister-in-law, doesn't agree with Rob's choice in brides either, but a party is a party....and as long as she can drink, and keep taking her anti-anxiety drugs, she's fine.
Tinsley, Rosalee's cousin, who really can't afford it, is unexpectedly paying for the whole party. She's worried about Rosalee, because she's the only one that knows all her cousin's secrets.
Georgia, the groom's best friend, knows Rosalee is concerned about her friendship with Rob, but has so many other worries, that it's just one of a list.
Even the mansion has secrets.
My Opinions:
This was a really fast, entertaining read. It's about secrets and resentments, and 6 catty women. I'm not sure I liked ANY of the characters, though, so that was probably my only complaint (well, to be honest, I'm not into chick lit, but this looked good and I'm glad I chose it)..
I liked how the chapters alternated between all of the guests, and eventually the detective as well. It was really well done, and kept things from getting too confusing with so many main characters.
The plot flowed smoothly, if somewhat predictably. I didn't see that ending coming though! I loved it. That ending and the fact that we didn't know who died til close to the end (although I had guessed), was what sent the book from 3.5 to 4 stars.
I really admire this author!
One thing I always think of when I read a One More Chapter book is the latin saying "In Nomen Omen", because that's exactly how their books make you feel: "Yeah, I'll just read another chapter, just the one......."
The Bachelorette Party takes place in New Orleans, which is the last place a visited pre-covid. It has been an incommensurable pleasure to go back (virtually) through this book. I loved the setting and I hated almost every single character, but I guess that was just what the author wanted.
A well written, quick, twisty thriller with multiple POV that will keep you guessing until the end!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this a ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Bachelorette Party
Rosalee is getting married, and she’s off on her Bachelorette weekend to New Orleans. Attending this weekend are her best friend, her cousin & her Mother & Sister-in-law to be. What should be a fun weekend away most definitely isn’t. Tensions are running high & by the end of the weekend one of them will end up dead.
I enjoyed the New Orleans setting & culture, the characters weren’t likeable at all but that’s the point really and it was a good, twisty thriller that I read quickly. My one criticism is the fact the author has mentioned the name of the house they are staying in SO many times. ‘The LeBlanc-Landry mansion’ was mentioned whenever the author wrote about the house which seemed really pointless. But a great read none the less.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I enjoyed the multiple POVs and whilst most if not all of the characters were unlikeable, it was well written and concluded. A quick read. Recommended.
I loved this new thriller by Carissa Ann Lynch!!! This book will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next!!! Carissa has written a lot of good books!!! Go check them out!!! Enjoy!!!
This story was told from the point of view of each of the characters. The main action took place in New Orleans and it gave a flavour of the place and it’s different foods. The story really had me hooked from the beginning, and gradually their true personalities showed through. The reader didn’t know who was found dead or what had caused the death. I will say that the ending was totally unexpected, a real surprise! This was a most entertaining read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a very captivating and intriguing book this was to read more so because of how it was written. I am not normally a fan of reading books that jump back in time but because of how this one was actually written, it worked so well. A great read with characters that are enjoyable to read about and a storyline that has you on tenterhooks!
I love reading books by Carissa Ann Lynch and she did not disappoint with her latest, The Bachelorette Party. A perfect story, a bachelorette party with six very different women in one of the best party places around, New Orleans. A well written, fast paced thriller that had me on the edge of my seat! A mind blowing story that kept me trying to guess who the killer is and why. The pages turn quickly and when the killer is revealed, just keep reading because Ms. Lynch always throws a curve ball and this is no different!!! My highest regards to this very talented author!!! I am so looking forward for the next one!!!
Thank you NetGalley, Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter and Carissa Ann Lynch for the honor to receive an advanced copy of this captivating book in exchange for my honest review.

Rosalee isn’t crazy about the idea of her bachelorette party bringing together her cousin, her best friend, her in laws, and her future husbands best friend. She has secrets of her own, and apparently so do each of her bridesmaids. When one of the attendees ends up dead in New Orleans, the story behind the murder unfolds from each of their perspectives, and results in more secrets than anyone could imagine. Who is dead? And which of the girls had the best reason for that person to die?
Thank you to Onemorechapter, HarperCollins, and Carissa Ann Lynch for letting me read The Bachelorette Party in exchange for an honest review.
First what I liked about the book, the cast of characters was super fun! I loved some of them, some of them annoyed me, and a lot of them made me laugh. I enjoyed the fact that their personalities didn’t run together.
I loved the way it kept me guessing every page about who was the killer and who was the victim as well. I went back and forth every 10 pages about who I thought it was.
Now on to things I didn’t like. I wish the detective wasn’t called “the detective” 30 different times in the first few pages. Im not sure why but the over usage of “the detective” bothered me so much.
Overall if you’re looking for a fun mystery with multiple POVs and little side plots i think this book would be perfect for you.
