The premise of the book was good but I feel the characters let it down, none of them were likeable. A bachorellete party where no one liked anyone, a murder which is only revealed in the second part of the book. Each person holding secrets, it is so similar to another book I have read I was convinced I'd read this

If you’re a fan of Lucy Foley’s locked-room mysteries, you will absolutely want to read this. A hen party heads to the bustling New Orleans for a weekend of fun, frolics and celebrating the bride-to-be in style. It has the recipe for a fab time, even if the party itself is full of people who wouldn’t necessarily choose to spend time together. The mother-in-law, more interested in the groom’s friend (some would say, closer than friend) being ‘the one’ than the bride-to-be. The bride’s best friend, will to do whatever it takes to make her pal have a memorable time. The groom’s sister who takes after her mother in so many ways. The cousin who’s a wee bit on the periphery. Still though, one thing is certain: each of the six women are keen to throw off the shackles of everyday life for a while, and just… exhale. But everyone knows you shouldn’t play truth or dare with people who you don’t 100% trust… because by the end of the weekend, one of them will be dead.

I was hooked from the start. Who isn’t intrigued by a story about a bachelorette party where everyone hates at least one of the other guests & they all have secrets! This was a fast paced & entertaining read - we know at the start that someone has been murdered, but we don’t know who or how. Over the course of the book, we get to see the drama unfold and get to guess who was killed & who was the killer. Yes, the characters are a bit clichéd, but I feel that it works well. There’s plenty of drama, revenge and suspense, and this kept me eagerly turning the pages to find out what happened.

I love a good book filled with parties, drinks, music and murder! And The Bachelorette Party did not disappoint! I even got a bonus with secrets, lies and more secrets and lies! lol. This book was deliciously wicked fun!

Loved all of the secrets that the characters were hiding from each other! The format of the novel was perfect - each character got their own chapter that way and I found it easy to tell the characters apart. I wanted to know what happened to each character (and their secret) and of course who was the murderer and murderee. There were some twists at the end of the novel that did keep me guessing even though I thought I had it figured out.

If I disliked a friendship group this much I would not go on a bachelorette party with them. No one really likes anyone else so the basis of the story is that someone ends up dead and you hear the tale from different points of view. I thought it was an excellent read and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great (awful) characters and brilliant setting!

Six women go to New Orleans for a bachelorette party, and by the end of the weekend, one of them is dead. I was totally sucked into this book from the beginning and could not put it down! It was the perfect thriller for me - mystery with a lot of drama. I thought the multiple perspectives were PERFECTLY done, each person had a unique voice which is hard to do sometimes with this setup. I only wish this book was longer, but overall I would highly recommend it!

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this. I really wasn't sure what to expect. This was an easy enjoyable quick read. The story starts off with a murder but they leave you guessing who it is and why. The bridesmaids take the bride to New Orleans for her Bachelorette party. They really don't all get along that well and are usually trying to hurt one anothers feelings but Murder?? They seem to all have something to hide but what...There is a lot of drinking so you know what happens when that happens... I really liked the characters and enjoyed this very much.

Six women go to New Orleans for a Bachelorette Party and someone ends up dead. The Bachelorette Party reads like a Lucy Foley imitation. The story is told from multiple points of view and the reader doesn’t know who is killed or who the murderer is. Everyone has a motive to kill everyone else as these are unhappy, unlikeable women who all have secrets to hide. While I did appreciate that this story was told in linear time with multiple points of view, I have read this kind of story before. The author brought nothing new to the locked door mystery trope and with characters I wasn’t invested in, the book fell flat to me. Fans of Lucy Foley or atmospheric stories should check out The Bachelorette Party.

Easy to see why Carissa is a best selling author- what a story! A riveting plot where you don’t know what is going to happen next- I was hooked from the beginning. It’s a hen party set in a mansion with a dark history, so it starts off in an atmospheric mood. Poor Rosalee, the bride to be is not looking forward to her weekend and the getting together of those that will be attending- are her friends true friends?

Enjoyed it, but this is one bachelorette party I would have skipped. None of the women on the trip actually liked each other. They could have stayed home, went to a local bar and played stupid games and then at least they would have all been alive- maybe. I wasn't sure which lady was going to be murdered. Honestly, I would have killed any of them because they were all equally annoying. Rosalee and Georgia would have been on the bottom of my list. Georgia already survived one attempt on her life. Then there's Rosalee. With Elizabeth and Bri as her in-laws, she might want to be killed. Elizabeth is so horrible to Rosalee. Maternity pants for Christmas???? Bri's shirt that is two sizes two small. They acted like children instead of adults. Tinsley was definitely on the creepy side. Mara was the worst one of them all. She paid for nothing, but planned such an extravagant party. She wasn't even nice to her best friend. These people were lucky that more of them weren't killed. The caterer should have poisoned then them for all the food they wasted. I didn't love any of the characters but enjoyed the story. Loved the ending when everything was finally revealed. Of course, there had to be a twist that I never saw coming.

Definitely recommend the book. It was a good mystery thriller that will have you guessing until the end. It's a quick read. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

Wow! What a great story, great setting, great way to weave the characters, they were well introduced and even though there were quite a few characters introduced all at once the author does a fantastic job, I was able to keep them all straight. Each character narrates a chapter, not at all confusing.
Rosalee is the main character and bride to be, the weekend getaway in New Orleans is for her, her best friend, cousin, mother in law to be among others, as well as her future husband's best friend, who happens to be a woman. The weekend is fully planned and starts by everyone meeting at the rented house to get to know one another.
This is a first novel I have read by this author and I will be looking to read more!

Initially, reading the blurb was something I was really drawn to as it seemed something I would really enjoy and overall I did. However, I found it hard to blend with any of the characters really and felt that the story was moving really fast which made it a bit of a harder read.

Overall, it was an easy and quick read but just wished it was a bit more developed.

My second Carissa Ann Lynch novel and I preferred this. With building tension and secrets revealed every chapter this is a dark one. Flickering perspectives give you nobody to root for and you’ll be determined to unravel the end.

Initially I thought yet another locked in suspense which seems to be all the rage right now. This one was different as it didn't time jump which made it easier to follow and there were two parts. One leading up to the murder - with lots of intriguing hints and the second post murder with the investigation. I think I would go as far as three parts as the ending was brilliant.

This was definitely a one sitting book for me and was addictive - thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Bachelorette Party is gripping, slightly creepy, and makes it almost too easy to root against some of the main characters!

Quick summary: set in New Orleans, Rosalee goes on a Bachelorette Weekend with her best friend, cousin, fiancé’s best friend (who may or may not be sleeping together—spoiler they aren’t!), future sister-in-law, and future mother-in-law—all of whom have secrets they are trying to keep. The weekend ends in a murder! (the book is much better than my summary—i promise!)

The book starts off with a detective, who we meet later on in the book, at the murder scene. The author does a great job giving enough detail, while leaving out identifying information. Throughout the entirety of the book, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen and spent a majority of the time trying to figure out who was the murderer and who would be murdered. I was surprised by who was murdered and who was the murderer and/or accomplice!

I wish more time was spent between the murder and the resolution between some of the characters. I also may have missed the importance of the driver who makes two appearances. My only real complaint is I wish it was longer!!

Overall this is a quick read and an example of a whodunit that I think anyone would enjoy.

Rosalee is going on her hen weekend with 5 other women. Some of the women don’t like her, others are her closest friends. The novel opens with one of these women having been murdered but the reader does not find out who until a long way into the story. There are lots of secrets and tensions and some real red herrings to find out what actually happened on the final evening of the party. I had worked out who’d ‘hung’ the body but nothing beyond that. Engaging read.

I liked the different POVs and it did keep me from guessing who did it. The ending was a little confusing as the book just ended. I felt like I was missing pages.
