The author takes some romance tropes and turn them into a fresh and cute story.
I loved the characters, the style of writing, and liked this life affirming and sweet story.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
A gorgeous, happy read that fills you with joy. I love Jenna, and it’s wonderful to have the main character have a disability which really does add to the story. Jenna is a strong, independent woman who has had so many knock backs in her life. She’s been stuck in a safe job for the last thirteen years and is living with her hapless boyfriend who has just started a business with his friend, buying storage units and selling the contents. One day, Jenna finds an intriguing letter in a box, in one of the storage units and embarks on a quest to reunite some personal items with Henry, the items owner. As they finally meet and become friends, they join together with Jenna’s sister and her partner, to save the local guinea pig rescue centre threatened by closure. While battling to stop the planning application for new houses to be built on the site of the rescue centre, Henry and Jenna become closer, but can Jenna learn to trust someone and just what is stopping Henry from fully committing his time?
Heartwarming, sweet, romantic and with a frantic, page turning ending!
Jenna's boyfriend buys the contents of a storage locker as part of his new way of making a living. Hidden in the contents Jenna finds a letter, which starts her journey into a new life.
The guinea pig rescue centre in the story reminds me of the next book in my TBR list, which is part of a series set around one for hedgehogs, and is a great setting for it. There is the normal will they / won't they romantic thread, but there are also some sub threads in both Jenna and Henry's life. Personally I'm more like Jenna, liking the security of a regular income and not one for wild adventures, but sometimes wish I could be more adventurous like Henry. I did enjoy the book and would give it 4 1/2 *, but happy tho round it to to 5 as I think that it does deserve it. There was an excerpt from the author's next book, What Would Jane Austen Do which also looks interesting and I'm looking forward to reading that one.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book and I have already placed a pre-order for it
A sweet love story for animal-lovers. Jenna Oakhurst is kind-hearted and popular at work but rather taken for granted by her boyfriend, Matt. Her sister, Evie, works happily at a guinea pig rescue centre, where much of the story takes place. Jenna finds a letter in a box of junk and and determines to find its owner, Henry, who turns out to be rather special. Good to see a plucky heroine whose physical limitations don't define her. You can see the author loves guinea pigs by the way she writes so fondly about them. Great fun to read.
A sweet, simple and enjoyable friends to maybe more (you have to read yourself to find out!) book that really just made me feel happy, put a smile on my face and I breezed through quickly.
4.5⭐️
Thank you to One More Chapter, Linda Corbett, and NetGalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!
I kept seeing this one every time I logged onto the NetGalley site so when I was invited to read it I couldn’t resist!!! And I am so so glad I gave it a go! I read almost the entire story in one sitting because I just needed to know what was going to happen!
I love that this story has disability representation, a lesbian couple, and a Guinea pig rescue!!!!!! Jenna is such a great main character. She is a nice but firm personality, and she is honest towards people when it comes to her mobility issues. I loved that the author included situations in which someone is trying to be helpful or say something they think is nice and Jenna is forthcoming about how it actually comes across! It was a great learning experience as a reader that I will take into my real life!
I love any story with LGBTQ+ representation in it because it SHOULD be present in every single book written anymore because it’s so common and relationships/sexuality/life choices other than just straight/heterosexual/he-she NEED to be represented!
The animal aspect of this story holds a special place in my heart. While I do not know much about Guinea pigs, I think rescuing is so important and adopting from rescues is EXTREMELY important. I love that the author highlights the good times, fun times, bad times, and realistic challenges of rescue life. I also love the love for this rescue from the characters in this book! The support is amazing and the gifts and donations people bestow on Little Paws is something that happens in real life and there are some wonderful unsung heroes out there!
If you’re looking for a non-traditional (imo) love story, consider picking this one up!!!
A fairly standard romance with few surprises. Jenna left the wrong boyfriend very easily and with hardly a backward glance and the rest of the story shows her slowly falling for the right man, who she meets as the result of finding an old box of random keepsakes and a camera. There are the usual misunderstandings and wrong turns along the way as the friendship develops into more. The guinea pigs were cute, Jenna's disability is unusual but a welcome change to the usual depiction of a romantic heroine, and we got the expected ending, but the story flagged badly in the middle, and a sub plot about an expenses fiddle at work was dull. The A-Z of the title felt like a last minute add-on as the trips to places alphabetically only took off in the final pages. An OK read but it left no lasting impression and never touched my heartstrings.
An interesting funny romantic read, which pulled me in straightaway, with good likeable characters. I loved the guinea pig rescue farm! Perfect for summer reading.
I really enjoyed this book and loved reading about the Guinea pig rescue centre. Jenna’s boyfriend buys storage units no longer looked after by their owners and sells the contents on eBay. An unopened letter in a box from the latest acquired storage unit leads Jenna along a different path. There is so much in this book to think about, sisterly support, beautiful scenic places, fighting for what you believe in and of course romance. This is a book I am glad I got the opportunity to read and which left me with a smile on my face when I reached the end.
Linda Corbett, I blame you for my newfound desire to rehome a guinea pig!
Sorry, let me take a couple of steps back.
I absolutely ADORED this book. So much so that I read it in a day. That's not a huge feat for me, usually, but when it is this time of year and my day job takes every ounce of my energy, and reading is a joy, but a huge effort, too, I can take a lot longer to read, but I whizzed through this book, today.
Jenna's life is coasting. She is in a safe relationship, with a steady income and a roof over her head. Then her partner decides to jack his job in for a riskier alternative - buying storage containers and selling the contents in the hope of finding that priceless treasure. She helps him unload and sift through his first buy and finds a box of unlikely treasures, including a letter which leads her on a little adventure of her own.
Through this letter, she meets Henry, who is looking for something that belonged to him, which she realises they have in that storage container.
The story follows a shift in Jenna's own character as she realises where she is now is not where she wants to be.
She finds herself moving in with her sister Evie and partner, Kat, who live simply on a farm and run a guinea pig rescue centre that is facing the threat of closing.
I don't want to tell you more because there is so much to find as you peel back the layers of this story, from the effects of gambling to living with a disability and the trials and tribulations of love... obviously!
Such a heart-warming read that will leave you with that fuzzy feeling inside!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins, One More Chapter, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review,
Jenna finds a letter in a box of old belongings. Her boyfriend buys storage units and sells on the contents. Jenna is intrigued by the letter and contacts the writer.
Will she be disappointed or will her sense of adventure kick in.
A real feel good book with guinea pigs thrown in.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I absolutely loved this book. It had lovely moments of hugging guinea pigs.
It was good to see how a relationship has tension, not related to infidelity.
You could relate to Jenna, the story gave an insight into her life, her job and family, as she also lived with chronic pain and clumsiness. It was nice to see a portrayal of a disabled character.
I recommend this book.
A wonderful, feel good read that ticked all of the boxes! Romance, mystery, family relationships, a bit of drama and some cute furry friends! The more serious undertone around disability and accessibility were really naturally woven into the story - just loved it!
Guinea pigs! Gotta love a rom-com with guinea pigs. Jenna and Matt have a practical but not romantic relationship. What happens when she meet Henry? Well, readers of this genre know that there's going to be some back and forth and that Jenna will begin to see her life differently, There aren't any real surprises here but it's a light fun read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Good storytelling.
Another cosy, easy summer read which I devoured in 2 sittings. I love the main character, Jenna, who has a set way she thinks love should be but unfortunately her boyfriend, Matt, has a completely different outlook on everything. Once she meets Henry, this changes for the better.
The story is lovely, and so are the guinea pigs!! The settings for some of the outings during the book are amazing, I’m definitely googling the pub.
A quick, cosy summer red for anyone who believes in love.
A lovely tender romance with oodles of cuddly guinea pigs to love. With a fun premise, it was nice to see the strains in a relationship appear for something other than infidelity.
Jenna was easy to relate to and this story gives a snapshot into her life, her work, family, as well as dealing with chronic pain and clumsiness. As a fellow person who regularly stumbles, good representation of a disabled character and I really need her t-shirt..
It was an enjoyable read and ideal for fans of Jessica Redland
I received an E-ARC with a request for my honest review.
This rom com follows Jenna Oakhurst who as a child believed in Happy Ever After. As she grew up, she started to believe that it was only Happy for Now that existed in life.
When her boyfriend buys the contents of a storage unit in an auction Jenna discovers a lovely box, and inside is an unopened letter.
She is curious so she opens the letter and finds that some of the contents of this unit could belong to this mysterious person. She decides to contact them, and what follows will make Jenna think about her life and what she really wants.
Who is the mysterious writer of the letter? Will she finally get her Happy Ever After?
This was a lovely romance read with a few awkward moments making you laugh, which I love in these kinds of books.
I loved Jenna’s character as she was determined and strong, although I loved seeing her let her guard down a little as her character developed in her new friendship.
I’ve always loved the idea of a Happy Ever After which makes this so relatable, I think most women (or men) reading this would love to have that too.
Overall, a relatable and lovely romantic comedy where a woman may finally have a chance for her Happy Ever After.
This book was really cute. It was utterly feel good and like a great big hug in be ok form. It is unique and original and I really enjoyed this.romantic, well written book.
This was a cute and light-hearted romantic read with an original premise and quirky, fascinating characters that captured my attention right from the start.
The best way to describe this book is cute.
It's the famous trope of girl has boyfriend, meets another man and realises just what a douche her current partner is.
What happens after is friendship blossoming into something quite adorable.
Is Love You from A-Z something completely new?
No it isn't.
Does the predictability take away from the impact of the story?
Again, that's a big no.
Linda has written a story that for me, ticks all the boxes.
The storyline is simple yet enjoyable.
It has some quirky and entertaining characters. My favourite being Jenna's sister and of course the cameos by the adorable guinea pigs.
And Corbett had the ability to make me smile through my entire time of reading it.
Love You From A-Z is one of those novels that reads like a Hallmark movie. Feel-good, fun and flirty. A quick read with a highly satisfying ending.
