It's the second book in the Joe Mason series and it's the first I've read. Again you follow this team who are sent on a mission for the Vatican to protect the foundation of the Catholic Church. This happens with highspeed chases and high powered fights. The book is a combination of an action packed Lee Child novel and a history/archeological quest such as the Da Vinci Code.

It's a fast paced thriller with quite the interesting story behind it. It is a perfect combination of action and adventure with a National Treasure/Indiana Jones vibe which I truly liked.

I confess, I chose this book only by its title. It is fine, as long as you're not as picky as I am. There is a lot of action, killings, and not much of a mystery.

The Vatican and the secret society of Amori are deadly opponents and Christianity is at stake. The new leader of the Amori had tasked the group of criminals to steal the coffin of Jesus Christ at any cost. And the cost is the lives of many monks that guarded the coffin.

Joe Mason and his team pursue the thieves all around the globe and try to rescue the civilization.

I like adventurous books, but this one is just too similar to the others in the genre and has too many annoying descriptions and characters that stop the flow of the narrative.

Overall good read, just not for me.

Riveting adventure with Joe Mason and the team, non stop action as they discover secrets of the past. Highly recommended.
I received this book from Avon Books UK and Netgalley for a review.

The Demon Code is the next book in the series that started with the hit The Vatican Secret. The book is non stop action as the team travels across the world battling the Amori. I enjoyed the descriptions of the different parts of the world. I look forward to the next Leadbeater book.

Another great book by Mr Leadbeater, worth more than 5 starts. After the escapade with The Book Of Secrets, Mason and his crew are again enlisted to help Cardinal Vallini. Racing from the Vatican City to a location in the Alps to help stop the theft of a holy body that was entombed with a huge secret that the Church do not want revealed.
Plenty of action and humour, it definatly keeps you on pins while your turning those pages.

I'm obviously going against the grain here because this wasn't for me I'm afraid, despite being a fan of this genre.
Beautifully, descriptively written, I did read about a third but then gave up. It just didn't grab me enough to continue.
Sorry.

Joe Mason and his team return, the Vatican is in turmoil and his team must stop the revealing of a secret which would destroy the Christian faith. Good book that moves at a good pace, it takes you back to the origins of the Matt Drake series.

5 stars

Joe Mason and his partner, Roxy have been fired by Patricia the head of the protection company for which they worked for not following protocols on their last mission. What are they to do now?

When Sally Rusk invites them to her father’s funeral, the whole team goes, including Quaid and Hassell. Interestingly enough, they are contacted by Cardinal Vallini, who appeared in the last book. He has a problem. The Vatican is up in arms and hobbled by politics. There is a plot afoot to steal the bones of Christ that is secreted away in an isolated monastery high in the Alps.

The problem is when the team arrives, they are already too late. Someone has killed all the priests and made off with the sarcophagus and the associated relics.

Cardinal Vallini then tells them that a valuable codex was also stolen. They must get this item back.

Enter Marduk, the very evil man from the first novel. He is no longer the leader of the Amori. He was demoted after the fiasco over the Amori losing the Book of Secrets to Joe’s team. Marduk absolutely hates the man now in charge and plans to bring him down.

Casadaga and his sidekick Ivana are a very evil pair of killers. They kill for the fun of it. They are now working for the Amori.

Mason and his team now face these seemingly insurmountable odds. What will be the outcome?

This exciting action-thriller is superb. It is well written and plotted and the action never stops. Mason’s team might look a little wishy-washy, but they are anything but. I like Mason and Roxy certainly grows on you. Quaid, Hassell and Sally all add their unique skills to the story. I truly enjoy Mr. Leadbeater’s stories, and anxiously await the next in the series.

I want to thank NetGalley and Avon Books UK/Avon for forwarding to me a copy of this great book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are solely my own.

An amazing rollercoaster ride that I stayed up all night to finish. I would highly recommend this novel, and on the strength of this novel I bought another novel by David Leadbeater. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of the book.
