I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Years ago, Lucas Pemberton, Duke of Dorman, was ready to marry the woman of his dreams. But as he goes to her home before the wedding, he's told that she's already left and married another. Angry, and heartbroken, he buries himself in parties and fun, and is a consummate rake. Now, racing after a woman on a runaway horse, he realises that the woman he's just rescued is his ex-fiancee, Lady Harriett Dudley, returned home after being widowed. The angry and pain has returned, but when he finds two orphaned children on his doorstep, in his care due to a past agreement, he needs Harriett's help. Harriett never wished to marry her late husband, but was forced into it by her weak father, and found herself at the hands of a monster. Widowed, she vows never to fall into the hands of a man again, and welcomes her freedom for the first time in her life. Reconnecting with Lucas, and remembering all that she lost, it's hard, but she starts to care for the girls, and struggles to keep her feelings to herself. Will they both be able to get over their past hurt, or will the danger on the horizon keep them apart?

I loved this book, and it's definitely my favourite of the series. Lucas and Harriett have loved and lost, and due to actions wholly out of their control, were forced apart. They may have grown, but they both have demons which are hard to face, and being in each other's company is hard, but not impossible. I really liked how they were willing to let go of the past for the girls, and though some of the actions made to push them together were questionable, I was pleased with the ending! A great way to finish off the series.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Story and characters are well developed. If you need an easy reading this is your book!!

I had high hopes for this one based on the title and cover art. But it fell completely flat. Zero chemistry between the characters and the story went nowhere. It spent to much time on the secondary characters and that ended up going nowhere and apparently just served to waste time the two main characters could’ve used to fall back in love. I don’t even remember their names honestly.

The Duke of Disorder - A lot happens in this book, some of it was heartwarming, some felt disjointed and tedious.

Second chance romance between widowed Harriet and Lucas. Trigger warnings for abuse (by prior husband and father), so definitely some heavy topics.

Of course, Harriet and Lucas have to confront their pasts and reconcile the hurt they caused each other in order to bring upon their new relationship. I love second chances, and I wanted it to sizzle, and unfortunately their romance just simmered, because with so much extra plot and characters, the leads didn't spend that much time together.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. The thoughts and opinions are my own and freely given.

I enjoyed the trope and reading Lucas and Harriet’s story. Hard to believe that a father could ruin his family the way Harriet’s did. Even sadder that there are people like Lord Dudley who would put people in that position. Nice to see the outcome.

** I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. **

A second chance at love match. Will Lucas and Harriett be able to capture what they once had or has too much time elapsed and feelings changed? And why did her father betroth her to another man?

This was a nice story between Lucas and Harriett. Once inseparable until her father marries her off to another man. Lots of twists and turns to keep you interested and waiting to see what happens. I would recommend this story to others..

Second chance romances are sweet and difficult, especially in The Duke of Disorder. Harriet and Lucas were separated tragically. The misunderstanding that separated them continues to keep them apart five years later. Neither know the reason Harriet’s father forced her marriage to a horrid man, but now a widow, she still does not feel she could marry again. Lucas, too, is against marriage since she broke his heart even though she was forced into the marriage.

There are sweet secondary characters from the two previous books included here to add to the mix helping bring Harriet and Lucas together. Add in two precocious wards, a loving mother and sister, from both sides, to stir in a bit of mischief and the reuniting Harriet and Lucas can begin.

Anna St. Clair writes charming, clean romances that will lighten your reading time with love. I have just recently found her and thoroughly have enjoyed the Rakes of Mayhem series.

Secrets and Second Chances

Lucas almost married Harriett, but when he went to ask for her hand, he found her gone. Why did she marry someone else when he knew she loved him? There were secrets only her father knew. What were those secrets, and could Harriett and Lucas get their second chance at love? When he rescued her from that runaway horse, they just might have that second chance, if only Lucas would not be so stubborn. He vowed not to lose his heart ever again, and he decided not to marry. However, he did lose his heart to Harriett all those years ago, and she never did give it back. Harriett and Lucas had a heartbreaking start to their love story, but would they open their hearts and let it have a happy ending? I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like second-chance, historical romance.

This is a new author for me and I totally love her writing style. This story grabbed my interest right from the start with wonderfully interesting and complex characters. The story was well-developed and was complex, with drama, memories of heart-break, emotion and some very good humor intermixed in the story.

This story of long ago heart-break is suddenly relived when they unexpectedly come together again when the hero rescues the heroine from a dangerous situation. From that moment on the story gets more and more interesting, and more and more engaging. You will wonder if the two of them an overcome the heart-break of losing each other from long ago when she suddenly married another and if they will discover what really happened to result in that unexpected marriage.

It's a very good story that can also be read as a standalone, which is a plus in my book. I highly recommend this well-written and very entertaining story.

This is the third book of the Rakes of Mayhem series. The series follows four friends who swore that they would never get married. This is Lucas' story. Five years ago, he was going to propose to Harriet, but she was forced to marry another. Life has not been easy for Harriet since then. She had suffered much abuse by her late husband, and because of that, she vowed never to marry again. When fate brings them together again, it is not necessarily a happy reunion. All the heartache and pain on both sides are once again brought front and center. Despite his feelings for her, he refuses to give his heart like that again. But with the help of the many well-meaning and determined family members and friends, they are able to clear up the misunderstandings and misconceptions they have harbored all these years. They just may have a second chance.
I found this to be a very entertaining and enjoyable read and the story captured my attention from the start. The characters were nicely developed and there was no question as to how strong their chemistry was. A very well-written story and great addition to the series!

I received a complimentary copy from Dragonblade Publishing via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I liked the idea of this book but didn't enjoy the read as much as I expected. The story felt disjointed with lots of secondary character's who were fun and interesting but didn't really add to the story and in fact seemed to interfere with the romance and contact between the main character's which just seemed to limp along. I hadn't read the other books and found some of the mentions of their romances puzzling so not sure i could say this could be read alone. Also lots of errors not in spelling but in using the wrong details like Harriet goes from having a puppy to a kitten when it's Cat that has the kitten. This is my honest review after receiving this as an earc

Oh wow! The writer did such a wonderful job with introducing Harriet and Lucas love story. Creating Whitt characters that humorously hounded Lucas in his journey of raising his two wards while placating his mother was quite entertaining. I love the simple telling of a love story about a couple who battled the hardships of having decisions made for your well being without your input. And how decisions made by family that effect the ones you love.
The writer shared a story behind those tragedies that have the readers believing that love always conquers the things that try to destroy it. Until next time my fellow readers… read in!

The character's were written with such depth that you could feel their anguish at times a good story with mystery, misfortunes, and love interests, gripping plot, so many assumptions, misunderstandings that is well written.

Five years ago, Lady Harriet Dudley's father forced her into marriage and never explained why he did, not even to his wife. For five years Lady Harriet endured the abuse and cruelty of her husband. Lucas Pemberton, fourth Duke of Dorman found out the day he was going to propose to Harriet, that she had married another. There were no explanations, Harriet had disappeared.
Upon her husband's death, Lady Harriet returns to her parents. Out riding one day, her horse is spooked, and Lucas rescues her. Still deeply hurt by what happened five years ago, he finds it hard to let go of the pain.
This is a second chance love story with drama, secrets, mistrust, and joy along the way. I would highly recommend this story for your reading enjoyment.

I enjoyed this story very much. It is part of a series, but could standalone. The heroine has been dealt a horrible deal. Her father “sold” her to a cruel man, tearing her away from the love of her life without any explanation. The hero was heartbroken and turned that into anger. What I didn’t understand was why the anger was directed at the heroine who was helpless? The intrigue was based on why the father did it and when the hero would realize he needed her in his life. The wards add some humor and the hero’s mother tries to play matchmaker. It had a few editing errors, but I received an ARC for an honest review so hopefully those errors were caught before publication.

In this Final book in the The Rakes of Mayhem series we meet Lucas, Duke of Dorman, who has sworn never to marry after being spurned by his first love in favor of another. Years ago Lady Harriet, now a widow, was forced by her father to marry another after already giving her heart to and agreeing to marry Lucas. After living with a very abusive husband and mother-in-law for years, Harriet has also sworn never to marry again. That is until she unexpectedly runs into Lucas again after her horse is spooked in the park. After Lucas comes to her rescue, both realize that they still have feeling for the other, but still fight the attraction. I loved the interaction between the two as well as with the supporting characters, some of which I'd met in previous books. A wonderful culmination to the series.
Thank you Anna St. Claire, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

The Duke of Disorder by Anna St. Claire is a very cute second chance romance: Lucas and Harriet planned to marry. It was known by all with only the formalities left before them. When he arrived at her home that morning, the butler, Nicholas, greeted him with the news she was married. How could she be married? He'd seen her only two days past. When speaking with her father the man couldn't look him in the eye as he imparted the same news but refused to reveal to whom or where she was. In five years he had not heard from her and now here she was hanging from her horse by her ankle. He was devastated upon seeing her. To be fair, she was as well. He was a gentleman. He had to help her. His two friends looked on in amusement. She was lovely and he felt his heart leap, but he would not be taken in again. It was over. He was a duke so he would have to marry, but he didn't plan to engage his heart. Plus he had his two wards to think of: young women. What did he know about raising a
daughter?

This was an enchanting story, amusing and heart breaking from one moment to the next. A man taken advantage of and solved the problem by sentencing his daughter to a life of misery. They hadn't spoken in five years. his wife barely spoke to him: he could hardly stand himself. Then, all of a sudden she was home, her husband having taken a fall from his horse and died of the injury. Everyone in the house was miserable, as was the reader, hearing this recounted. Her life had been horrid, but now to everyone's surprise, her husband had left her well off, financially, and her solicitor was looking for an appropriate house for her. She had sworn off men as thoroughly as Lucas had sworn off love. It was heart breaking, but amusing as his mother and her sister conspired to reunite the pair. The younger of the two wards also provided some comic relief with her antics. It was an amazing entertaining book.

This book started off well with the prologue and I was intrigued, but that was the most interesting part of the story. Fast forward 5 years and Lucas and Harriett accidentally run (literally) into each other when he saves her from her panicked horse. The spark of love is still there, but of course, both of them deny their feelings for each other. The author tries to add in some levity with the addition of two young cousins and while Catherine was entertaining, this subplot didn't add much to the story. Then there were the endless pages concerning Lucas and his friends, either playing billiards or riding off to purchase a new horse. All of this led to a dull and boring story and I skipped most of the middle just to get to the end. Also, there were numerous editing mistakes that jarred me out of the story I feel could have been caught with a thorough reading by beta readers or an editor. The subplot of why Harriett's father married her off in the first place was interesting, but it was too little too late. I don't think I'll be reading more from this author.

Lucas Pemberton is the Duke of Dorman, but he really is the Duke of Disorder, as his life is all turned upside down. All his friends are happily married and he’s alone since his would be betrothed was married to another some five years ago. Then suddenly two young wards are dumped on him, and the woman of his dreams turns up in town on a runaway horse. Seeing lady Harriett again, he wants closure on why she left him for another. Only she doesn’t know any more than he does. They both still love each other but neither believes that a second chance is possible.
A sweet second chance romance
