This is one thriller that will stick with you long after you finish it. It is so good I was happy that my plan for the day was to read this book. I literally started in the morning and read all day.
Nina Winchester hires Millie to be the housemaid to cook, clean, and do laundry. Millie is so happy to be able to stop living in her car and move into the big mansion. Her life is about to change.
She will never forget Nina.

First I have to say, this book is like "The Last Mrs. Parrish", but on steroids.
I absolutely devoured this book! The writing style, the plot, and the way it was ended were really good.
This book hooked me in from the first page itself and there was never a dull moment. Although some areas in the middle were a bit predictable since I had read "The Last Mrs. Parrish". I don't know how much inspiration/plagiarism the owner has taken from it, but this is the next level!
The structure was again similar to that book. The writing style was good and some witty points cracked me up even.
Overall great job! I would've ranked this higher if the plot wasn't along the lines of plagiarism.

This one was a doozy!!! I’ve got to wrap my head around what I just read!!! Freida McFadden knows how to write a thriller!!! Millie has had a hard time lately finding a job but she applies for a housemaid position and she gets it. Nina and Andrew are quite the couple. Told in alternating points of views, this book had me saying what the heck numerous times! This book knocks it out of the park and I could not put it down. And the ending!!! Wow!!! Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published April 2022. You won’t want to miss this thriller!!!!

Whoa, that ended quickly.
Kinda similar to a book I’ve read a few months ago but a little bit more exciting. I can’t say I liked any of the characters, though. I feel like Millie could’ve just walked away when things got out of hand but she didn’t. She was also blinded by money and some of her actions were selfish and stupid.
Also, the twist was obvious. We have a “too perfect” character and I was suspicious the whole time. Haha. So when my doubts were confirmed, I wasn’t catching my breath. The ending was unrealistic and couldn’t be further from the truth, like, how? Well, this is fiction so maybe that’s acceptable.
Overall, this was OK. The suspense was there but I wasn’t entirely hooked.
Cheers to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC!

A dark tale of violence, cruelty, and revenge. The book stalled in the middle as if the story had nowhere new to go, but then it picked up dramatically in the last half with a surprising twist at the end. A good read for for psychological thriller readers.

I enjoy Freida McFadden's books. And I have to say The Housemaid is probably her best yet IMO.
A well-told, with taut suspense, mystery read will have you hanging on the edge of your seat with anticipation!
Very suspenseful, engaging and dramatic. I absolutely enjoyed it and would recommend it!
Our characters are wild. Greatly developed. And fun to follow along with.
This is a standout from the crowd psychological thriller which keeps you riveted and intrigued until the deeply satisfying end!
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Bookouture,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my platforms, blog, B&N and Waterstone closer to pub date.

Millie is an ex-con who has spent the past 10 years in prison. After getting let go from her most recent job, she is desperate, so it almost seems too good to be true when she gets an interview for a bazillion dollar a week housecleaning job for a wealthy family. She gets hired and is able to stop living out of her car. But things start to get VERY weird very quickly, especially with the woman of the house who seems to have something weird going on.
I requested this book from Netgalley after seeing someone else post a review on it, because it sounded fantastic, and it was! The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars was it had an extremely similar plot to another very popular book that recently came out (I won’t say which one because it will definitely give the twist away). I had guessed pretty early on what the twist was going to be because it was so similar to this other book. However, even with that, I thought the book was paced brilliantly, and I ended up staying up way too late last night because I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out!

Wow! If you want a book that will make your mind spin, mark your calendar for April 26, 2022!
This book blew me away and was easily a five star read for me! I was a little apprehensive because I'm picky with my psychological thrillers so I tend to stick with the same authors. This is my first book by McFadden and she will definitely stay on my radar.
First thing I loved about this book, the short chapters. I don't know what it is but when thrillers are mixed with short chapters, I enjoy it much more. I find myself flying through the story and forcing myself to stay up later. This book was no exception! I flew through this and forced myself to stay up later than I normally would.
Next, I loved the secrets revealed! They were perfectly placed throughout the story and I found my jaw dropping a few times. I did guess one twist but definitely not to the full extent.
This book is perfect for fans of: B.A. Paris, The Woman in the Window, popcorn thrillers (short punchy chapters), dark psychological thrillers

This book is a fast-paced thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I spent an entire day enthralled with the mystery surrounding Millie and the Winchesters, and just could not put it down.
This novel begins with Millie, an ex-con who is trying to find a job that will keep her from being homeless much longer. She meets Nina Winchester, an extremely wealthy woman who lives in a beautiful home, who is offering a live-in position for a housekeeper. Millie believes she has struck gold when Nina offers her the position. However, there are secrets in the house that might make Millie regret her hasty acceptance of the position.
I enjoyed this novel quite a bit, though I was a little bit bored with being in Millie’s head by the end of the first part. She kind of annoyed me with her “I know this is bad but I’m going to do it anyway” attitude and always getting into the business of the Winchesters. Like just stay in your room girl! But when the perspective changed to Nina’s, at first I thought it was going to be weird but as I read on, I realized it really worked for the story. I also loved the ending. I think that Millie may have a useful career ahead of her.

This was very very good. Freida always knocks it out of the park. I loved everything about it! Multiple POVs are great, especially when there aren’t many of them. I also love a book where people have secrets and aren’t as they seem. Five stars, easy.

Millie has ben having a really hard time. Living out of her car and no job, she answers an add for position as a housekeeper. The Winchester's are incredibly wealthy and at the interview Millie cannot believe the opulence she is seeing at their house, it takes her breath away. Doubtful that she will gain the position she also applies at a fast food chain but then she receives a call that will change her life, she has been offered the housekeeping position.
She begins working for Nina, her husband Andrew and their daughter Ceecee. To say that these characters are easy to live with is definitely not the case. Nina has incredible mood swings, Ceecee seems to be an entitled little brat, only Andrew seems to be relatively normal. The job is incredibly hard work, Nina is a complete slob and Millie finds Ceecee very hard to live with on a daily basis. Millie tries really hard to keep her head down and get the work done but there is more happening in the background than she is aware of. She also has her own secrets and just wants to get on with and earn a wage.
I really enjoyed this book, Freida McFadden is an author I had not heard of before and felty she did a great job in conveying the story which held my attention throughout. The plot is strong and the story moves a long at a very fast pace, the ending is also satisfying to the reader which is extremely important in producing a successful book. I will be looking out for more books by this author. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
Whew, get prepared for a wild ride my friends! The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a thrilling page turner of a novel, and a great way to pass the afternoon, because let's be honest, I read the entire book in one sitting. It's a psychological thriller with two strong female narrators, what's not to love?!
In the book we meet Mille, a former convict who is trying to get her feet back in the ground. When she scores a job being the housemaid for Nina Winchester, an extremely wealthy but slightly erratic woman, she feels like she's finally making headway into rehabilitating her life. If it was only that easy... not everything is as it seems!
I loved that the book was extremely fast paced, but still had me guessing with many twists that kept me reading. The story was told in the perspective of both Millie and Nina, and the writing was fantastic. We really got a feel of each of the characters in their voice, and I enjoyed how the book was constructed. The ending was amazing, and one that I was rooting for. Overall, fantastic read, HIGHLY recommend for those who enjoy psychological thrillers, and I will be seeking out more novels by this author.
Big appreciation and thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Millie desperately needs a job. When she meets Nina and Andrew Winchester,, a wealthy couple in need of a maid, she is sure that she has found the perfect job. Nina is kind to Millie at times, but mostly she is mean and demanding. Her daughter, Cecilia, is a spoiled brat. Andrew, however, is kind to Millie and she finds herself drawn to him. She soon learns that nothing is as perfect as it seems.
Read this book!! I went into it completely blind which I think made it more fun. The twists and turns were truly unpredictable and the end was jaw dropping. If you like Alice Feeney, you will love this book!
Thank you to Netgalley, Freida McFadden and Bookouture for the ARC! The Housekeeper releases on April 26th.
This review will be posted to my Instagram blog books_by_the_bottle shortly ☺️

Wow wow wow!! This book was sooo good. It really made me remember why I love thrillers. This book had all the thrills and then some. This book had me guessing from the beginning. I was hooked and I didn’t want to put this down. I’ve read one other book by this author and that was good as well. I found this one to have a lot of twists and turns. The only thing I wish was different was the ending. I wanted more from it but still a pretty solid book in my opionion. I highly recommend!

Freida McFadden does it again! Loved this domestic thriller so much. Fabulous characters that made me feel like a part of the story. Lots of twists and turns. Highly recommend
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

Enthralling thriller that kept me captive until the last page. Constantly leaving you on the edge of your seat, this book takes you on a clever rollercoaster of intrigue that leaves you agonising for more whilst wanting to savour it simultaneously. Absolutely amazing psychological twisting book about abuse and escapism. I can sense this book making it into my top of the year selection.

Frieda does it again!! I LOVED this book. So suspenseful and with twists that just kept me guessing till the very end! If you want a book that will entertain and frighten you, order this one for April 26th.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Frieda McFadden for this #unputdownable book!!!

This is the quickest book I’ve read in awhile! Millie applies for a live in Nanny/Housekeeper position at Nina Winchester’s house. Nina house is stunning and she’s quite pleasant, it’d be a dream for Millie! Millie’s struggling to find work and is living out of her car; her luck changes and is offered the position. But all isn’t what it seems! The twists are crazy! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for a gifted copy.

*warning: spoilers*
This is my first book by this author and let me tell you, it won't be my last!
This story starts out with Millie seeking a job after getting out of prison. She learns of a housekeeping job and it seems to be the perfect opportunity for her to get back on her feet...that is until she actually starts the job itself.
On Millies first day she starts to notice things are not as they seemed during her interview/tour of the home. Between the roon being different, the seemingly normal husband, crazy off the wall wife and their spoiled brat of a daughter she begins to question this employment.
As time goes on things get heated and Millie soon learns that Nina really wasn't crazy, infact she was just made to look this way. As the story unfolds Millie finds herself locked in a room and planning her escape as others had before her...
This book had me on the edge of my seat with twists and turns I never seen coming! I absolutely loved the outcome of this book and found myself reading it in just one sitting. I can't wait to read other books from Freida McFadden! If you're a fan of jaw dropping twists and thrillers you will absolutely love this book! 5/5☆!

Freida McFadden writes really enticing, thrilling books. They’re fun, they’re witty, they make you laugh a little and they’re not predictable. This book was no different. We all need a Millie in our lives. “Just not 𝘺𝘦𝘵” 🤣🤣🤣. Inside joke. You have to read it.
