I was introduced to Freida's books last month and loved each and every one of the 6 books I read. This one included.

Everything is not what it seemed. The charscters were written well that you either love them or hate them.

A rollercoaster throughout the book filled with so many twists that you keep saying wtf.

My mind is blown thanks to this story but it also says how good this psychological thriller is. Freida, you did it again..

Thank you to netgalley and bookouture for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

Firstly, I am thankful for the opportunity to have received a free advanced copy of this eBook through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve read a few books from Freida before which I have enjoyed and this one certainly does not disappoint. I’ll definitely be moving her other books up to the top of my TBR list.

This is one twisty ride from start to finish, could not turn the pages quick enough. With an awesome shocking thrill at the end too. Loved it!

I rate this Ebook 5 stars and would recommend to those who enjoy their psychological thrillers.

OH MY GOODNESS!! This book was CRAZY good!! So many twists and turns and downright creepy AF!!! The Housemaid is hands down one of the best and most exciting thrillers that I have ever read! Prepare yourself before diving into this one! Make sure to allot yourself a few hours of alone time because one you start reading you will curse any and all interruptions. This book will inspire all kinds of emotions and have you questioning your own sanity, so you might want some alcohol handy to help calm your nerves.
I must confess. I already own 7 of McFadden's novels, but I have yet to read any of them because my TBR is just completely out of hand! I was so excited to be approved for the eARC of The Housemaid, giving me the excuse to finally read one of her books. And what a worthy first read it was!! I binged it today and I can't wait to start reading more!

HUGE thank you to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley for the allowing me to preview this ARC!!

A fast paced twisty thriller, where nothing is as it seems. Millie, is thrilled to get a job as a housekeeper for Nina and her handsome husband. Millie had been living in her car, with a prison record and no good job prospects. Is this finally her big break. Nina who had been so nice to her was now showing signs of mental illness and cruelty. First we get Millie's story and then we get the perspective of Nina. A good read. 4.5

Wow! I’m beginning to love this author. Once again, she’s kept me up all night.

Millie is an ex-con looking for a chance to start a new life. Luckily (or not so), she lands a live-in housekeeping position with the Winchesters, a wealthy family in suburbia. Immediately, she starts realizing she bit off more than she can chew. Her new boss is impossible to please, the child she must care for is a brat, and she has an unwanted attraction to the man of the house. As much as she wants to leave, she can’t. She needs this job.

I was drawn in from the beginning. The twists were some I never saw coming. This is a brilliant story demonstrating that nothing is ever as it seems.

I was so excited to see a new book by this amazing author, who everyone needs to know. It begins with Millie who is applying for a position as a live-in maid with the rich and intriguing Winchester family. Nina and Andrew at first appear charming and sophisticated, but Millie soon realizes that dark deception lies beneath their cultivated facades. Nina’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic – accusing Millie of losing notes that were never there, ignoring her daughter Cecelia’s peanut allergy that Millie was never told about, etc. As much as Millie wants to tell Nina where to shove it, she can’t. Millie’s an ex-convict who was incarcerated for 10 years and hasn’t been able to find any type of decent work until now. So, she’s stuck putting up with Nina’s verbal abuse and Cecelia’s bratty behavior, at least until she can save up enough to get out of there.

Thank goodness Andrew is so normal, yet somehow still deeply in love with Nina, whom Millie learns didn’t always act this way. Why he stays with her, Millie has no idea, and she can’t help but begin to fall for him. But she’d never act on it, especially with jealous Nina hovering about. There is that handsome gardener named Enzo, but the language barrier is a problem. He’d be a great source of information for gossip on the Winchesters, too. It’s not like he has his own secrets…

There are so many great twists to this book that I wish I could say more about, but that would spoil all the fun. Just when you think you know what’s really going on – you don’t. It’s amazingly clever and crafty, a classic example of this author’s appeal. I’m already anticipating the next story of hers that will dutifully blow my mind!

I want to start by prefacing that very rarely do I rate a book five star , but the Housemaid by Frieda McFadden is very deserving of a 5 star rating .

Once, Minnie arrives at the Winchesters’s home she soon finds out things may not be as they appear . She is in for a-lot more than she bargained for .

Frieda McFadden as delivered a riveting page turner . I couldn’t put this one down this book was purely addicting and the epilogue was so fulfilling , it was truly
unadulterated excellence .

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing an advanced digital copy.

Wow I absolutely loved this from start to finish, what a jawdropping twist! Wonderfully flawed characters and a believable plot. I can’t wait for the next one.

This is the third book I have read by this author and she aims to please every single time. I thought I had things figured out in Part 1, at 29% read. Boy, was I wrong! I didn't see Part 2 or Part 3 coming. I had to read this in one sitting to find out what happened. It was unique in plot and had twists and turns at every corner. The epilogue alone was such a great ending. I definitely recommend.

This was my very first book by Freida McFadden and I could NOT put it down! This story takes you on such an incredible roller coaster ride with its many twists and turns! Millie starts working for a super rich family as their housekeeper/Nanny. Her boss Nina seems really great….or is she? She makes Millie sleep in a cramped stuffy room in the attic on a lumpy old cot, one minute she’s praising Millie for a job well done and the next she’s screaming at her for stealing clothes she willingly gave to Millie. Millie finds solace in Nina’s husband Andy who is very kind to her and even sticks up for Millie when Nina accuses her of horrible things. As Millie and Andy grow closer Nina becomes more unhinged. This book left me hungry for more and I could not believe the ending!! Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Omg! Wow! I don't know but I kind of feel wrong about loving this book! I actually cheered for the female characters! Lol it was definitely oh so wrong but oh so good! You definitely have to read this book, if you have a little deviant mindset lol I do believe that certain characters got what was coming to them! Lol thank goodness this is just a book! Its my first book by this author but definitely won't be my last! This book is so worth reading! just beware its a little much on the psyche lol I absolutely loved it though! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! And a big thank you to Freida McFadden for your amazing words! Millie Calloway is living in her car, trying to pick up the pieces of her life that have been shattered by a ten year prison sentence. She's been fired from her last job and is trying desperately to avoid violating the terms of her parole. When she applies for the position of a live-in housekeeper at the Winchester estate, she knows she'll never get the job. As soon as she meets Nina Winchester, the lady of the house, she is filled with a longing to work for this woman and live in this beautiful home that Nina shares with her husband and daughter. Millie lands the job and is taken aback by her cramped attic quarters; after all, a spacious guest room is just downstairs. Telling herself it's better than sleeping in her car, she cheerfully agrees...until she notices that the door locks from the outside, not the inside.

Almost immediately Nina's friendliness turn to scorn as she berates Millie every chance she gets. She is slovenly, rude, entitled, and gaslights her employee with such fervor that you have to wonder what her endgame is. Nina's "friends" all make sure that Millie knows her new employer is crazy and has even spent time in a psych ward. The prescriptions she finds in the medicine cabinet add credence to this claim.

With every new book from this author, I find myself wondering how she will ever top her previous effort, and I'm here to tell you, I won't be asking that question again. I'm just going along with the thrill ride she creates for each and every book. Thoroughly developed yet truly awful characters masquerading in a facade of normalcy is her trademark, and you will NOT believe the direction this book takes. In her signature style, she drops a jaw-dropping twist that isn't finished unfurling until the very last page. A truly stunning thriller that I could not read quickly enough. So many thanks to Bookouture for this early read that publishes April 26, 2022.

“The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden is a twisty little thriller. I was engaged from the beginning and, like others, read it in one evening. It started off like a number of recent thrillers I read - and then came the twist I thought I saw coming (spoiler - it really reminded me of a popular book written few years ago) but Ms. McFadden took that book’s surprise element and did an additional twist … and then a final satisfying conclusion. This book held my attention and I look forward to reading more books by Ms. McFadden. Engaging, great pacing, enjoyable plot, and a fast entertaining read.

Terrific! Finished The Housemaid in one night, totally compulsively readable. Lots of twists, even after the first big one, you think that's it, but no, the ending packs a wallop! I can't wait to read more by Ms. McFadden.

P.S. Thanks to #netgalley for the DRC. #TheHousemaid

This book has everything in it from humor to mystry. It's a rollercoaster ride.
Millie is a simple girl but her low time is on, she's single, broken, unhappy and unemployed. She wants to find a job and then she sees an ad in the newspaper about a live in housemaid. She accepts the job without hesitation for Winchesters ( Nina and Andrew ). She's to live in a small attic room which can be locked from outside ( strange ) but she can see everything from behind the door. Nina doesn't miss a single chance to gaslight but Andrew is a kind human, Millie started to fancy him.
But then she witnessed something which can be deadly. Winchesters aren't that perfect. What will she do?
I don't want to tell anything further because it's not right. The author has done a beautiful job of delivering twist after twist. And when I thought i knew what would happen next, the twists surprised me completely.
Nina and Millie were really very well written female characters. I think this book should be in your tbr list.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Millie is at a low in her life. Broke, single, and homeless she is desperately looking for a job while she finds an ad for a live-in housemaid for the Winchesters. After landing the perfect job, she soon discovers everything may not be as perfect as it seemed.

Wow what an amazing book! I couldn't put this down until the very last page. Once again Freida McFadden has delivered beautifully. I love the humor, mystery and suspense she put into this. While it may be a story already told in various degrees, she managed to tell it the best and with her own take and style on it which is why I still gave this one a perfect five stars. This one is by far my favorite book by this author yet.

“The Housemaid” is one wild ride! Millie is down on her luck and living in her car when she lands a job as a live-in maid for Nina and Andrew Winchester. But maybe it’s not as lucky as it seems – she has to live in a teeny-tiny attic room (that locks from the outside!) and Nina seems to be gaslighting her at every turn. It’s not all bad though – Andrew is kind and handsome, and Millie can’t help but indulge in little fantasies about him.

I don’t want to say much more because there are so many twists and turns and I don’t want to spoil a single one. Let me just say that this book is everything a good domestic thriller should be – dark, mysterious, fast-paced, and unexpected. I was hooked right away – I even read my Kindle while waiting in my kid’s school pick-up line so I wouldn’t have to put this book down! “The Housemaid” is an addictive and satisfying read, and the epilogue is pure perfection!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.

I have really enjoyed the Freida McFadden books I have read recently. The Housemaid is a twisty little psychological thriller. Just when I thought I had it figured out, I was throwed a curve ball! I finished this in one day - very entertaining book! If you haven't read any of Freida McFadden's books, this is a great one to start with.

Underlying Menace…
Twists and turns aplenty in this psychological suspense with an edge. Millie, despite a dubious past, gets offered a position in the household of Nina Winchester. A live in position. She’s overjoyed, especially as she’s living in her car with no friends nor family for support. Things are about to turn very sinister indeed. With an underlying edge of menace from the off which continues throughout the fast moving tale and a plot populated with a credible cast this is a one sit read to grip.
