One of the most gripping thrillers of recent years, believe the reviews! Well worth packing in your suitcase this holiday to read by the pool
Unfortunately, I have been locked out of my netgalley account for a few months and was not able to see which books I had on my list, in order to properly read and review. I do apologize and am doing a 3 for neutral. Will update once I’m able to obtain a copy and read!
WOW! Absolutely stunning read that kept me gripped until 3am as I just HAD to know the end. So many twists and turns and just when I thought I had it figured out, it spun again. Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers - you won't want to miss this! Absolutely loved it and cannot wait for more form this author.
This is my second book by this author and her writing is just unputdownable. I love the twists, the turns and the suspense she creates throughout. Solid thriller here.
This is my second book by Freida McFadden and I enjoyed it very much. It's a quick fun thriller. It has creepy characters, twists, turns and some dark humor that kept me turning pages right from the start. The end was excellent! I read somewhere there was a second book coming out in the series and I can't wait to read it! If you love a quick fun thriller I highly recommend The Housemaid. I will be checking out Freida McFadden's other books while I wait for the next one in the series
Unbelievable!! The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden was a story of twist and turns.
Nina Winchester a beautiful woman with a handsome husband, a daughter and large beautiful home. Millie is out of prison and can’t keep a job and living out of her car. She found an ad for a housemaid and thought it was a dream. A job, a roof over her head and meals. But things were not what they seemed with the Winchesters. They are hiding a very dark secret!
I couldn't put down. The ending was totally not what I expected. A must read!!
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Frieda McFadden for the ARC for my review.
This book was a fast paced, twisted read. The characters were unreliable and unlikable, who made this a tense read. I was never quite sure who did it so that kept me reading to find out what really happened.
Loved the cover on this one. This is a fast paced book which grabbed me from page one. I didnt know who to trust. This book kept me on my toes. The characters were so unlikeable.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
A quirky psychological crime drama with a not so delicious twist. Read and enjoy the ride
A great twisty and tense read! Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC.
This is one of those books that even though completely implausible and illogical you just can't for the life of you put it down.
Even though many of the events within this book wouldn't actually happen in 'real lofe'its a real engaging and entertaining read that makes you step away from the reality of life for a while.
Millie is a girl who has the weight of the world on her shoulders, completely down on her luck and now living in her car, jobless and counting every slice of bread. With no luck, no references and no options she doesn't know where to turn next.
In steps Nina, the epitome of elegance, advertising for a 'light duties' live in maid in her Winchester home. After an interview with the lady of the house, against all odds Millie gets the job.
Unbeknown to Millie when she starts, Nina is rather manic and has spent time in a psychiatric hospital. Her daughter Cecilia is a real spoilt brat who just loves causing trouble and all the while her husband Andrew is in the background seemingly treading on eggshells.
Told from the POVs of: Millie the housekeeper/maid who also just happens to be an ex convict, Nina the manic lady of the house and Andrew the man of the house who seems to have a roving eye ...
I don't want to give too many details as it would completely spoil the book but just know there are many twists and turns and most are completely unexpected!
An exciting, suspenseful thriller that you can't help but love.
With thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is the story of Millie Calloway who starts a job as a maid for Nina and Andrew Winchester. Told from different points of view, nothing is as it appears in this book, and I found myself on a roller coaster of emotions as I continued to read. I voluntarily read this complimentary copy of this well-written, suspenseful book full of secrets and unexpected twists and turns. Well done, Freida McFadden! I look forward to reading many more of your books.
A murder-mystery thriller set in an outwardly perfect domestic setting. But, under the surface there is intrigue and betrayal.
There's lots of plot of twists and double-crosses to keep the reader gripped throughout.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I LOVED this book! From the first page I was hooked and couldn’t read this book fast enough! I loved the short chapters, the fast-paced and compelling writing, and the twists! Oh my goodness, those twists blew me away! I haven’t recently read a thriller that had twists that completely took me by surprise like this book did! I also loved the characters, the storyline and truly everything about this psychological suspense of a thriller. This was my first by McFadden and certainly won’t be my last. Thank you so much to Netgalley for my gifted eARC. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know!
If you're looking for a read that will keep you up at night, look no further. This is it.
This book completely glued me to the sofa from start to finish. It starts REALLY well, the pace is excellent and the author inserts the suspense in a magical way, keeping the reader always interested.
Definitely recommend this book!
inhaled this book in one sitting, McFadden is an expert at pace, storytelling and keeping you on the edge of your seat. Loved it and cant wait for the next book, have read all so far.
It’s a chance to for a fresh start. A do-over. Millie can’t believe her good fortune when she is offered a live-in housekeeping job. But almost from the beginning there are signs that not all is right in this beautiful home. They are obviously keeping secrets. But, then again, so is Millie.
Well, just wow! The Housemaid hooked me from the beginning. It’s suspenseful and fast paced writing, with good characters and creative twists. I loved the thoughts that Millie had. So spot-on and perfect for the situations at hand.
I read well into the night (something I rarely do) in order to reach the final outcome and it was well-worth it. This is the first book I’ve read by Freida McFadden but not the last. Thank you, Ms McFadden, for such an enjoyable book!
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.
Ooh time goes by and if i don't write the review right away...sigh. I'm trying to be better. The best i can do right now is give a star count...
Freida McFadden is a go to author for me.
This was my first book by this author but won’t be the last. I can now see why so many people rave about her books. This one was fast paced and full of suspense. I loved the way the author leaked little tidbits about the characters that kept me guessing. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.
A heart pounder - one of those books where you get to the end and sit mouth agape wondering what just happened to you!!
