This book has twists with another twist. Go in blind, don’t read to much about the book. I think this really helps from anything being spoiled and you can thoroughly enjoy the story as it unfolds.
Loved the character building of the main characters as you learn their story. This book is told in various view points that all seem to intertwine together.
The last 25% of the book will fly by as there are secrets unveiled and twists you will not see coming. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. I really enjoyed it.

This is a difficult book to review. The concept for the book is good and the twist is fantastic, but the pathway to get there caused me some issues as a reader. I enjoyed Hamdy's writing and felt that he did a good job setting the scene and describing his characters. He weaves a good story and includes some great introspective information. But the nature of the book requires a lot of information to be held hush hush. Unfortunately, this leads to a plot that runs a little slow and is occasionally confusing. The end of the book made it worth the read and was quite clever, but the mix of genre and the way things come about will just not be for every reader. This is a niche book and a unique one. I enjoyed my read, but wouldn't recommend it to just anyone.

I thought this book was great! The prologue definitely gets you thinking. I quickly became invested in the book and flew through it as I wanted to find out what happened. Did not see the twist at the end! It was bittersweet and heartbreaking at the same time. Sacrifice is a big theme in this book - it makes you ponder life your existence. A very powerful novel. Can't wait to see what Hamdy comes out with next!
Rating: 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5).
Thanks so much, NetGalley and Atria Books, for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Never predictable, nothing is as it seems…
Many thanks to Atria and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Huge props to THE OTHER SIDE OF NIGHT for getting me out of my reading slump!
I will avoid spoilers as much as I can because you really need to go into this one blind. It's a basic murder mystery for about 70% and then the puzzle pieces begin to quickly come together (get ready to be blown away!) I read this in one day because I honestly just couldn't put it down. (I was also just dying to figure out what everyone was hinting at in their reviews.)
Highly recommended for fans of fantastical, mystery fiction.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for my #arc!

Publishing contacts at Atria requested that reviews don’t reveal much of the story or the twist, so here is my review—The Other Side of Night is like a bag of trail mixes and picking out raisins will not work this time 😉 There are two parallel storylines in this book, one of the disgraced police officer Harriet and the other of an author David who is narrating the biggest regret of his life—losing his son Elliot. What unfolds after is a twisted mystery which also includes the secret of Elliot’s adoption! There are some plot points in the beginning and the middle of the story that made me scratch my head, but thankfully they get tied together at the end! The secret that is talked about wasn’t very satisfying for me, but talk about expecting the unexpected. Overall, this was a great read because I still remember the story and the twist two months later!!
Thank you Atria via Netgalley for the arc.

The Other Side of Night by Adam Hamdy is one of those novels that feels chaotic, jumbled and slow in progression. Multiple characters with different view points to solve a potential case. Then something so unexpected happens and you're left there with your mouth hanging open as each path merges into a kaleidoscope of a climax.
Honestly, I was very unsure about this one at first but my Atria book fairy told me to hold tight and she was so epically right. Go in blind. Know this is slow, know you're piecing together something you will not see coming. And if you somehow figure it out early, grab yourself a cookie because you're basically Einstein in my world. And yes, I'm purposelly being vague because this is not a book that should be revealed too much.
Thank you Atria books for the gifted digital copy and special thank you to my book fairy!! I see why you loved this one.

I will be reviewing a physical copy of this book on my social media platforms but thank you agin to Atria for the digital arc

Look. This books was fine. But the marketing hype about the twist and not reading too much about the book in advance so that the reader would be surprised?
.........if that twist wasn't obvious and inevitable, I'm a fried banana. Maybe I read too much sci-fi????
That's not to say this wasn't a fun book with some cool elements- there's definitely a type of reader that this book is perfect for, and they will love this. Hamdy is a sharp writer! The last 10% sticks out to me the most (can't say much more than that without spoiling) because of some pretty cool world-building, so for fans of pop fiction looking for a lite sci-fi romp, this would be a solid choice.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy!

I’ve never been so conflicted on a book review…. so I’ll try my best to convey my thoughts about this one.
The Other Side of Night was something I could not wait to get my hands on! The synopsis is gripping, and the first few chapters were intense… however I had some issues with the writing, which I thought lacked flow, and the completely out of place chapters with court interviews. I thought it perhaps just lacked some editing.
After somehow managing to get through the middle of the book, which bored me to tears due to some repetitiveness and general loss of steam, I reached the second half which I must say is essentially **A TOTALLY DIFFERENT BOOK**
Now, I’m obviously not a writer and I really do appreciate authors and how much research, planning, editing, and creativity it takes to come up with a story even half as complex as this one, but the whole thing just became some wild convoluted story that just did not execute to a satisfying degree for me as a reader…which I felt did a big disservice to the story in general.
In the beginning, I was expecting a thriller though and through… but this thing turned completely sci-fi, so my issues with the writing flow became even more evident when the entire book’s genre lacked flow.
I would like to mention that the ending was brilliantly creative. And for some, knowing that there is going to be some mind-blowing twist will naturally draw them into reading this book.
Given everything I just said, I still rated it 4-stars, mostly because I love time travel, so that bumped it up from a 3 for me. I actually think this would translate well into a movie or tv series, but as a book it just felt a little sophomoric, even with such an extraordinary ending.
Thank you so much to @netgalley and @atriabooks for my advanced e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

My thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for a copy of the e-book.
David Asha is grieving the loss of his son.
Harriet Kealty is a former police officer trying to clear her name. She discovers a book from a second-hand bookshop with an inscription she can't let go of - "Help me! He's trying to kill me." Oh my! Who wrote this? Can she help in time? Her investigation leads back to David Asha, who had killed himself. His son Elliot is being raised by a good friend, Ben Elmys.
Ben Elmys was once the love of her life, but now she fears might be a murderer.
In this twisted story that leads the reader up and down some strange and hard to comprehend places. Pay close to attention to all the connections! Although not really my kind of book or genre, it kept me turning the pages.

This book was a struggle for me to get through at first! The story telling is incredibly beautiful, detailed, and well done! I do not think I was in the right head space for a slow burn sci-fi book so it took me awhile to really get into it and truly figure out what was going on. However, the last 25% really took off for me, and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! This story of Harriet Kealty and her trying to solve this mystery that fell in her lap one day is so incredibly intriguing, and one you really just want to know the answers of.

A mystery, love story and more rolled up into a creative story with surprise twists. The end felt a bit rushed but overall a good solid read.

Everyone told me to go into this story blind and I’m so very glad I did. The story was completely unique and because I didn’t know much, I was shocked at the various twists and turns.
Adam Hamdy is truly a gifted storyteller. I was swept away by David’s telling of why he was separated from his son, Elliot. The mystery unfolded in a way that had me utterly captivated.

This is a book that you are either going to love or dislike. I am on the dislike side. While well written, I wasn’t a fan of the twist and the ending. I found many parts of the book intriguing, Without giving anything away, the twist took me by surprise and I wasn’t a fan of the ultimate explanation and the rather bizarre ending. Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

This is the story of 4 people whose lives intersect in a most extraordinary way. The question is why, and what is the secret.? This was a very original story that crosses genres, but first it's a mystery. And although the title and cover seem like this would be a thriller, it's really not a thriller. You are not really going to know entirely what's going on until close to the end, and I think the author does a good job of tying things up (again, this won't be in a way that you might expect). Themes include love and grief.
~Thank you to NetGalley and publisher

THE OTHER SIDE OF NIGHT is unlike anything I’ve ever read. Overall, I do recommend and did like it, but I’ve been letting it simmer in my head for awhile because if I was to rate the first 80%, I’d say this is a 5 star book, but the ending kind of lost me.
Definitely try to go into this book blind! I didn’t really know what was going on but I was so intrigued and thinking about it when I couldn’t be reading. I think it’s the first mystery type of book I’ve read in awhile that I wasn’t trying to “figure it out”, I was just immersed in the story.
It was the twist/reveal that I kind of feel meh about. I don’t know - it’s hard to really explain without spoiling but it felt overly complicated.
Thank you Atria Books for the digital copy through Netflix in exchange for an honest review.

I really wanted to like this one. After reading so many people, and the publisher saying to go into this one blind, that's what I did. This just wasn't what I was expecting. It starts with David Asha writing about his biggest regret and the grief he feels from the sudden separation from his son Elliot, and he also list his wife. Then we have Harriet Kielty, trying to clear her name after a lapse in judgement. She comes across a letter in a old book that says "help me , he's trying to kill me". Doing some investigating, the letter leads her to David Asha, who was last seen stepping off a cliff. But why would he leave behind his young son? But then Harriet suspects it's someone else….I won't say more in case you decide to read it.
Overall, I was just really confused throughout most of it, and It fell flat for me. Just was too all over the place for me.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.. Out now.

I don’t even know where to begin, to adequately convey just how incredible this book was. I agree with all of the reviews out there saying to go into it completely blind. I truly wouldn’t even recommend reading the synopsis. Just dive in and enjoy every minute of the beautiful, powerful and truly unforgettable story and journey this book takes you on. I read this in essentially one sitting, captivated by the story and determined to unravel the mystery at play. I did see where the story was heading very early on but to see it all come together was told so masterfully. This book will absolutely go down as one of my favorite books of all time and I cannot recommend it enough!
Thank you so much to Atria and Netgalley for this gifted copy!

Adam Hamdy has written an unique murder mystery/romance novel that also has elements of fantasy. So how to give this story a compelling review without giving away any the unique details? Well I just shall not. The protagonist in this story is Harriet Kealty, a disgraced former hot shot police officer. Or is she? Perhaps our protagonist actually is David Asha who wants us to know the tragic story about his mysterious separation from his son Elliott. Or…enter stage right is the even more mysteriouser handsome hunk of a man named Ben Elmys. His besties are the aforementioned David Asha and David’s wife and he dates the also aforementioned Harriet Kealty before mysteriously dumping her.
There is a mysterious encounter with a stranger in the local bookstore and a deeply held secret that we wait a long time to discover. And that is all I shall divulge so that you can enjoy this book as much as I did. Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and comment on “The Other Side of Night.”
