I am a huge Kendra Elliot fan! Indeed I have read all of her books and purchased them to keep forever even though they are free to me as part of the Kindle Unlimited subscription! Why? Because I love her books and know I will be reading them again once I have forgotten about their plot :).

This book is the 7th of the Mercy Kilpatrick series and in my opinion deserves to be read in order as her story is really really interesting introducing people like me living in the UK aspects of American life simply unknown to me. What a delight! Reading this book was like revisiting a long time friend along with Truman and the rest of the gang. I will miss them...
The plot is easily followed, the background scenes beautifully written. Once again a lovely story full of emotions and action packed.

Mercy and Truman are back and I loved this book! The treasure hunt in town has brought a lot more than expected to this community. With it comes a missing persons case that draws familiar characters together once again. What follows is a story full of twists and shady suspects. This one kept me guessing. I was gripped from the very beginning. Just when i thought I had things figured out the author throws another twist that just sucked me in even more. This Columbia River series has something for all fans of the genre. I'm looking forward to the next one.

It's so good to be back with Mercy and Truman and the gang. I thought the plot of this book was very interesting. I can see where the thought of a $2 million would bring out all sorts of people, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I loved meeting another character like Ollie. I think it would be nice to have them continue to have a relationship. As well as Bridget and Evan. I love the "family" dynamics in this book and look forward to them in every Mercy Kilpatrick book.

The twists and turns to figure out the protagonist was great. I can usually figure it out pretty early on in the book, but this one kept me guessing.

An interesting journey with Mercy and Truman. Once again they team up to solve the mystery of where’s mom and her toddler have disappeared too. At the same time their town has been impacted by treasure hunters thinking the millionaire pick Eagle nest for the prize location. When a treasure hunter is found murdered Truman has his hands full. This is a fun read with several unexpected turns. Thank you netgalley for complimentary copy.

Great suspense/mystery book.
A teen approaches Truman, Sherif, and reports his mother and sister are missing and he has been taking care of his other sister. Things are not so cut and dry and when he brings his wife, FBI agent Mercy, in to help, things get a whole lot more complicated. There is also a hidden treasure, the whereabouts were published in a riddle. So lots of unsavory treasure hunters are also in town. But, when the clues finally start to stack up, will Mercy be in trouble before justice can be done? Nice twists and turns, lots of interesting characters, and just enough action to keep me on my toes. Loved it. Highly recommend.

Kendra has done it again. It was so good being back with Mercy, Truman and gang.

Kendra’s writing always captures my attention within a page or two of starting the story. In the Pines had everything we love from the small town FBI office and police departments. The story was suspenseful and held my interest until the very end.

I won’t say anything spoiler’ish about In the Pines other than it’s a definite must read. I look forward to the next instalment.

Mercy and Truman are back in another exciting book in this series! I don't think Kendra Elliot can write a bad book every book in this series is exceptional! Mercy is on the hunt to find Bridgett and her daughter Molly and uncovers a family with dark secrets and lies. Love the characters in this book and series! Great read! Perfect mystery!

This is book 3 of the ‘Columbia River’ series AND it’s also book 7 of the ‘Mercy Kilpatrick’ series.
Coming back to Eagle’s Nest and catching up with Mercy, Truman and the gang is like a nice warm hug from an old friend. You know what you’re getting with this series. A good mystery, some quirky characters and a suspenseful ending.
This time around Detective Evan Boulton is featured a bit more. He’s popped up a few times in previous Mercy Kilpatrick books but this time Evan is also a big part of the story.
Eagle’s Nest has been overrun by treasure hunters who are hellbent on find the $2 million prize that people believe has been left there by an eccentric billionaire. With only a cryptic poem to guide them with the clues, people are going crazy trying to find the hidden treasure, including shootouts, robbery and even murder.
And while this is all going on Truman is approached by a young boy who says his mother and baby sister have been missing for weeks. A missing children means Mercy and the FBI are working the case with him. It’s always great when Truman and Mercy work together. In trying to find the missing mother and child, Truman and Mercy discover the women is actually related to Detective Evan Boulton. Evan is stunned to discover his sister is not only alive, but a mother of three.
In a race to find the find his missing family, Evan, Mercy and Truman uncover long held family secrets and lies that blend into the treasure hunt mystery.
This was another great read by one of my favourite authors. I loved this book and hope we get to catch up with the Eagle’s Nest gang again sometime soon. 4 stars

Mercy and Truman are back and this one is a real page turner. I could not put it down and read the entire book in one sitting. Love watching how Ollie and Kaylie have grown up and how close knit the family has become. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but this is a story you will not want to miss.

In the Pines is the latest Mercy Kiltpratrick mystery and like always it’s like visiting with a friend. With an easy to read and step right into pages feel, the story finds Mercy looking for a missing mother when her kids report her missing. Preppers, the family has lived an isolated existence away from society which is why Mercy’s friend, Evan is shocked to discover the missing women is the sister he hasn’t seen in years. The case takes turns as Mercy discovers the family may have went of grid for more than doomsday prepping. A local treasure hunt complicates matters further as hunters are being murdered over seemingly impossible riddles to the treasure. Great series. Great characters who grow with every story. A treasure hunt with a strange set of clues brings trouble to the town, a missing mother and child adds to the mix. A brilliant story.

I was happy to see that Kendra Elliot couldn't stay away from Mercy Kilpatrick and her crew in the Pacific Northwest. After a brief hiatus (the author's note in A Merciful Promise suggested it was the last in the series), Mercy and her husband are drawn into a new puzzle. Rumors of a $2 million treasure hidden somewhere around Eagle's Nest have drawn treasure hunters from all over, and the consequent conflicts are keeping Truman's force busy when a boy reports the disappearance of his mother and baby sister. Mercy dives in to investigate and finds threads leading in surprising ways.

I'm always happy to have time with Mercy and Truman and In the Pines was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. After the last installment, A Merciful Promise, I thought Elliot might be finished telling Mercy's tales and working with her and Truman through some tough investigations. However, Kendra and Mercy, had another one in them., I'm glad to say.

The two million dollar treasure hunt was a bit of a hokey plot, but one that helped pull the entire story together. It was difficult to see how the hunt, a dead "prepper" husband/father and his missing wife and baby were going to fit into this story, but Kendra Elliot is a skilled writer and often brings unlikely characters and strange-sounding circumstances together into an ultimately entertaining read.

I was happy to see Kaylee and Ollie take on more prominent and more mature roles in this case. They are becoming young adults and I could easily see them branching off into their own spin-offs under Elliot's careful guidance. Even if this happens to be the last of the Mercy/Truman events, I believe Kendra has many more good stories in her.

Kendra Elliot does it again! I absolutely love every one of her books and this one did not disappoint. She has quickly become an author that I will read every time a new book comes out without even reading the synopsis.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC! I have never had the pleasure of reading any Kendra Elliot books, including this series. I ended up really enjoying this book! I really grew to like all of the main characters. I felt like I knew a lot about them even though I had never read another book in the series. The mystery kept me guessing and I was very satisfied how everything tied together at the end. I am looking forward to starting at the beginning of this series and reading additional Kendra Elliot books!

More Mercy, Truman and Eagle's Nest? Heck yes! I literally cannot explain how glad I am that Kendra Elliot decided to go back and explore more in Eagle's Nest and I loved the new focus on Evan. Now he just needs a love interest 😏
But ohh the mystery was so tense, suspenseful and basically had me reading this in one sitting. I did think it wasn't particularly traumatic, it basically had a HEA, which doesn't really fit with her other books but it didn't make it any worse.

I read this as a standalone and enjoyed it immensely. I'm going to have to start the series from the beginning. It kept me guessing nearly all the way through. The characters were likable and well written.
