The pictures in this children’s book are beautiful. The depictions of the animals being childlike will engage children as they read. The bright colors and painting like quality will have non readers flipping page after page as they take their picture walk through this beloved Bible story.
Though there were some inaccuracies I noticed from the standpoint of a Sunday School teacher, the message of the story is conveyed in a beautiful and engaging way. The fact that it is the animals making the complaints and mocking Noah I believe will have children really getting into the story.
I think the book cover or end pages should reference what part of Exodus this story comes from in the Bible. That way parents can read the story in it’s full form to their children as well. It also will help kids better understand where the story comes from, The Word of God.
It was fine. I think retelling the story of Noah and his ark was interesting choice but I don't know if it really brought anything to the story.
Decent telling of the story of Noah's Ark, which won't be as religious as needed for some purchasers, but isn't exactly ribald. There are a few changes in this from what I think is the accepted story – some of the larger animals help build the Ark once Noah has had his watery visions, the dove is the only bird and is with him from the start, and there is some humour in the beasties kvetching for lack of room and comfort once on board. Other than that it's perfectly pleasant, and the art shows a dynamism and atmosphere that are both suitable to the text. Not exactly remarkable, but hard to fault, so four stars.
A somewhat different take on the biblical story of Noah’s ark. Originally written in German as “Die Arche Noah” by Polish father-son duo Jósef and Piotr Wilkoń, and published in 1992, this edition is the English translation.
The story is faithful to the biblical version, except that it focusses more on earthly matters than spiritual. Thus it is not much religious at its core. Except for the basic storyline of Noah following God’s instructions to make an ark, everything else is about the animals and their reactions on the ark.
There are some funny situations and some moralising lessons. It stresses on the attitude of gratitude than simply whining about whatever happens. Overall, the story was pretty good but it somehow left me wanting more. I don't know why it felt incomplete.
The language is very simple and any beginner reader will easily be able to follow the story.
The illustrations are decent. The sketches are drawn in earthy tones towards the start and brighter hues at the end.
Can be read, but not a must read.
3.5 stars from me, rounding up to 4.
My thanks to North South Books Inc. and NetGalley for the DRC of “Noah's Ark”. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.
We love the Bible story of Noah's Ark but this is told in a more modern upbeat way and the children loved it. The illustrations are outstanding.
This was a cute story with nice illustrations. I think the extra touch with the seal was a fun and fresh idea! I like that the illustrations take the entire page.
This humorous take on the story of Noah's Ark from the Bible is a must have for anyone with children. Sure we don't know all the details that happened, but this rendition is beautifully told and can help even adults picture what it must have been like to trust God in the process and to deal with all those animals in the ark. This book could be a great conversation starter for many topics.
The pictures in the story are beautiful!
This story is a good reminder to trust the process. God gave Noah a task and he listened. While it wasn't ideal at times for the animals they tried to remain grateful. It is easy for us to think about the worst in the situation even though a brighter day is coming. God always has a plan.
This brings back wonderful memories for me. It iOS the perfect bible story to show how Gods love works. Love wasn’t before the storm they had to endure much hardship. In the end, they all weathered the storm. The rainbow is always something we can look to find after our storms. The book is so well brightly illustrated to tell the story. Best read by an adult to begin with to explain all questions. Then children can read, it will be a story for a lifetime. In exchange for an honest review,, I was given an advance copy. Thank you#NetGalley, Jozef Wilkon,, Piotr Wilkon. Thank you for giving methe opportunity to go back to a fond memory.. of reading stories with grandpa. It was such a special time. I hope to instill those memories with my grandchildren.
Noah's Ark is one of the great Biblical stories. This was a humorous re-telling of the story, depicting the animals complaining about the tight quarters. It had beautiful illustrations that appeared hand-drawn. A must have book for any young child.
