Lucifer’s Sin (Walker Security: Lucifer’s Trilogy #1). By Lisa Renee Jones. 2022. Julie Patra Publishing. (ARC eBook).

Walker Security operative, Lucas ‘Lucifer’ Remington, and Ana, a FBI agent and Lucifer’s ex-lover, have a history that has caught up with them. Two years ago their love turned to hate (Ana) and resentment (Lucifer), but now family secrets are back with a vengeance and it’ll take both of them to figure out the mastermind behind it all. Lucifer’s Sin is a fast-paced romantic suspense. Series regulars, Blake, Adam and my favorite, Savage, are also in action as Lucifer and Ana run off into a cliffhanger!

Oh Lucifer, how I wanted to enjoy you. I am the first to sprint to a dark romance, but this really fell short for me. Don't get me wrong...this book was STEAMY. Lucifer and Ana together were like magic. However, in all the scenes where they weren't ripping each other's clothes off, the plot lacked. It read to more like a fanfiction than an actual novel and outside of Lucifer and Ana, I really didn't connect with any of the characters. Overall, it just wasn't the book for me.

I was given this book for an honest review. The characters and story are strong and well written. I really wanted to give this book 5 stars as it really was good however it is a trilogy.
Great set up for the story though I hate when I got to the end, not having a conclusion of either the relationship or the story. Many sentences were repeated throughout which is very difficult to write well with dual narrators. The title should really say book 1. As this was given for a arc, I gave it 4 stars.

Luke (code name Lucifer) and Ana have history. Well he killed her brother and she shot him. They both land on a hit list because of their past. With the help of Walker Security(Luke’s employers), Ana and Luke try to figure out what got them on the list and try to sort out their failed relationship.
I can’t wait for the next book. It doesn’t take long before to be invested in the characters of this book. I thought it was great that they didn’t immediately jump into each other’s arms. They felt like actual people with problems in a relationship. It does leave off on a cliffhanger but it was worth the read.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

Lucifer's Sin by Lisa Renee Jones has a great premise that would draw any romance reader in, but I think the premise is better in practicality than in actuality. It was a short and quick read, weighing in at only 218 pages. I think the book's brevity was both a pro and con. On one hand, I was glad that it was over, but I think I would have been fine reading more of it if some of my issues with the book were addressed.

One, Lucifer's Sin contained a lot of show-not-tell and repetition. I think if I read a sentence that was along the lines of "but he killed my brother" one more time, I would have screamed. The characters were stuck in a rut of this back and forth on the same issues. Every few pages it was the same issues and I don't think there was enough character growth to justify that amount of repetitiveness. I also did not feel a lot of chemistry between the two main characters. I felt like we were being told that they were in love and had this great chemistry and tension, but I couldn't see any of that.

I wanted to like this book, but I can't say that I did. I have read that the author's other books are good so I may give them a try because I did think that this book had a good idea, I just wasn't a fan in the end.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early review copy.

I always enjoy Lisa Renee Jones book and was waiting for this book. It did not disappoint. This is the first book in the Walker Security: Lucifer's Trilogy. Luke aka Lucifer is one of the newer employees with Walker Security. He gets a call from one of his friends who he used to work with warning him of a hitlist and he is on it. Also on it is Ana who is Lucifer's former fiancée. They broke up over a tragedy that Ana blames Luke for causing. Both are angry with each other and the story goes back and forth with each other view point. Lots of angst and love between the two but can they fix it? Great secondary characters from Walker Security. I enjoyed the book and eagerly waiting for the next in the series.

I received this book as an ARC for my honest review.

I’ve read quite a few books from this author, each were high energy, lots of mystery with twists and turns, and definitely hot steamy scenes that were perfect with the chemistry of the characters, This book starts off the way I expected, good background on the lead characters, love the Walker Security team, and the storyline starts off with a bang, but after the first few chapters, it just falls short. I got tired of the same line of Ana’s brother being killed and it was Luke’s fault, of them having the lack of trust because they both walked away, and them being so “angry” with each other in every darn chapter. Truly not the same writing in past books I’ve read, it almost seemed rushed to get to the next book, very disappointing. Scenes seemed incomplete, and the reasons for the “hit list”, at least give the reader a little nibble to keep us going after the expected cliffhanger. Book wasn’t all bad, but it wasn’t good either, sadly I expected more from this author.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
