Very thrilling read. The story takes you many different places with lots of twists and turns. Will check out other books from the author
In a world where 1 percent of the population are born “brilliant,” with unusual talents that set them apart from the rest of society, federal agent Nick Cooper hunts down terrorists. The fact that most of them are brilliants, and that he himself is one too, doesn’t throw Cooper at all. Terrorists threaten the American way of life, and he’s going to do everything he can to uphold it. When he gets the opportunity to hunt down the most wanted brilliant of them all, Cooper jumps at it. What he finds, though, is information that alters his world view forever. Now he’s not so sure whose side he’s on and what he believes in anymore.
Author Marcus Sakey blends realism with enough science fiction elements to keep readers engaged all the way through this first novel in a trilogy. Some readers might need a few chapters to get into the concept and Sakey’s narrative style, but it’s well worth the wait. He balances fresh, innovative writing with a plot that moves forward at a steady pace. Astute readers might be able to guess some of the twists and turns, but many of them are unexpected and that’s part of the fun. I recommend readers Binge Brilliance.
Absolutely wonderful book and stellar series. It offers a fresh story premise, which is far harder to do than one might think. Engaging, well-paced, with nicely developed characters. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series.
Marcus Sakey is one of the most original writers we have seen since Dean Koontz. That is truly the only one he compares to. Brilliance is no exception. What an amazing story and one that you are so glad is not finished. Looking forward to book #2!
