This was a good read, albeit with a few things that bugged me. It centers on Abbey and Raven, former college roommates who lost touch and then go on a trip together years later after Abbey gets divorced. You also get chapters written by Lily, the 3rd roommate from when they were in college who met a tragic end.
The thing that bothered me from almost the beginning was that these women chose to go on this trip together to begin with. They are both harboring secrets about college and haven’t even talked to each other in ages, and I found it hard to believe that they would even take this trip. Then you have Raven being judgmental and directive when she was really just tagging along on a trip Abbey planned. I really didn’t like Raven and I initially didn’t like Abbey either, though the latter grew on me a bit as the story continued. I enjoyed Lily’s part of the story and wished I had heard more from her.
The book bordered on unlikely a few times but did move at a fast clip. I liked the ending a lot, though still had to suspend my disbelief a bit. Overall, fun read despite the couple things I didn’t love- I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story is told in three point of views: Raven, who is depressed and obsessed with her inability to conceive and was raised by a Wiccan mother; Abbey, who just got divorced and is out to live it up; and Lily, who died at a college party and adds puzzle pieces to the past and present as Raven and Abbey reconnect after many, many years.
This was totally character-driven. Raven drove me bonkers! She's obsessive, possessive, paranoid, and a bit crazy. I related to Abbey. And then poor Lily . . . But Raven's odd behavior kept me turning pages. What is her deal? Is she a murderer? What skeletons are rotting in her closet? Is she nuts? At the 50% mark, A new character enters the story and blurs all the lines. Red herrings abound, everything I was sure of I questioned. Who killed Lily?
This was a fun thriller with a great whodunit. Secrets, mystery, suspense, odd behavior, possible insanity . . . One of Grant's best novels!
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I love every book by this author and this is absolutely amazing.
Raven, Abbey and Lily all share a room together in a dorm in college. Raven and Abbey are best friends and bully Lily. Lily keeps a journal and writes down the things that they do to her and name them Cockroaches in the journal instead of their names.
Everything gets worst for Lily when she starts to get close to Raven's boyfriend, Carter. At a party, tragedy occurs.
Twelve years later, Abbey and Raven reconnect and go on a road trip together. I have to say that this book had so many twists and I could not put it down.
Thanks Netgalley for an early copy of BEST FRIENDS FOREVER , BY CATHERINE GRANT.
Best Friends Forever was just an ok read , maybe because I didn't like the main character. It wasn't a bad read it probably would make a good lifetime movie . The premise was good and I kept reading just didn't like the main character. 2 1/2 stars.
I loved the characters, I loved the suspense, I read it in one day! Looking forward to reading more by Catherine Grant!
It’s a great psychological thriller. This is my first book from the author and I’m interested in reading her other books. It’s a quick read and you won’t be able to put it down. I liked the characters development on this book,
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Best Friends Forever by Cathryn Grant. This is a twisty and unsettling novel about two college roommates and former best friends who reunite for a road trip after a decade of not speaking. The death of their third roommate has created a divide between them because Abbey had found Lilly's body and was inexplicably blamed for her death. Raven wants to spend the trip reconnecting with Abbey but finds that her long lost friend has some other ideas, including hooking up with the creepy stranger that has been following them across state lines....
Two friends. One road trip. A journey to hell.…. This is the type of book which grabs the reader's attention from the very early chapters. I was hooked on the book from chapter 2 and was unable to put the book down... I have read my fair share of thrillers but this will be on my recommended list for a long time.
Immersive Suspense…
A road trip spells danger in this swiftly moving, immersive psychological suspense with a credible cast and a well crafted narrative effectively told with differing perspectives. Who is the apparent stranger following Raven and Abbey? Is it a random person or a blast from the past? What dark secrets are these women holding close? Edgy and dark in equal measure. A compelling read.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC.
I was hooked from the cover and decided to give this book a go.
Raven and Abbey have been best friends in college. After a tragic event, Abbey quits and the girls are estranged for several years. Until Raven sees on social media, Abbey is now divorced. She takes this opportunity to invite Abbey on a road trip, which she happily accepts. Their road trip goes from happy to scary fast, when on their travels Abbey notices a stranger is following them.
The novel is told in different pov, which I liked. However, Raven and Abbey were horrible people, that fed off of each other and treated their roommate like dirt. At times, it was hard reading their pov, because they are deplorable people. However, I kept reading on, waiting for the good stuff to happen. Around the 50% mark, this book picks up.
Overall, a 3 star. For me, this was a slow burn and way too long of a novel. In my opinion, short and to the point would have made this novel, a fantastic read.
This was great! Loved how suspenseful the whole story was with such interesting twists along the way. The ending SHOOK me to the core. I truly did NOT see it happening. Creepy and intriguingly exciting the whole time! Loved the twists and how the author's writing style, truly grips you! Such a great quick read!
I received this ARC to review from the publishers and NetGalley. All comments above are solely my true opinion after reading this book.
I loved the writing style of this book! It was entertaining and easy to follow. It all flowed so well. I also loved the story itself. Very unique!
I love reading thrillers where the characters are traveling. It just makes it that much more thrilling! Some parts of this book however, seemed to drag on a bit and there weren’t any huge surprises. That said, it was still 100% worth the read!
I finished this one in a couple of days, I couldn’t wait to dig into it every night!
Abby is recently divorced and Is determined to now live her life to the full so when she hears from her old college room mate and friend raven who says about a road trip to go to their college reunion she agrees but while on there road trip they notice a stranger following them and they don’t know who he is or what he wants or why he is stalking them
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish I couldn’t put it down
Firstly I do enjoy Cathryn Grant's books and Best Friends Forever is no exception. It had plenty of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages and I could not put it down.

Another Home-run by Cathryn Grant!! This was a fast paced, extremely enjoyable read that I ended reading in one sitting!
We first meet Abbey, who has just finalized her divorce and is ecstatic! She decides to plan a Road Trip to celebrate her new freedom... something she never had until now. When her old college roommate and best friend, Raven, sees Abbey's plans via Social Media, she reaches out to her, hoping to reconnect. They haven't spoken since Abbey abruptly left college following a tragic incident.
Abbey is a bit weary about Raven joining her on the RT, but she agrees..hoping to receive a long overdue apology from her former friend. Raven on the other hand, thinks this will be a blast... that they will fall easily back into their close friendship. Plus, it will take her mind off the fact that she can't seem to get pregnant.
It's obvious from the beginning that the two women have very different expectations and don't remember the past three same way. The tension becomes almost unbearable after the Women realize that they are being followed en route to their second planned stop. Raven swears is the same menacing Man that was watching her at the Hotel they stayed in the previous night. To add to the fun, the story has a THIRD POV, via Journal entries made by Lily, who was also a roommate of Raven's and Abbey's in College. She was an outcast who tragically died at a college party.
So, who is following the women? And why? What's the reason Abbey and Raven remember the past so differently.... is one of them a bit unstable? What does Lily's tragic death have to do with present events? What will her journal reveal? You'll have to read to find those answers, but I CAN tell you that it will be an enjoyable time. I don't get completely lost in a Book very easily, and I was completely immersed in this wild ride. I would highly recommend this to any reader. This just might be my all time favorite from this Author!
Many thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for providing an ARC copy for an honest review
Two former best friends and roommates from college reconnect and decide to take a road trip together. Raven hopes to become close again and be the friends they were in college but a lot has changed and Abbey is looking for answers and an apology for something that happened back then. The further they get on their trip Raven becomes nervous they are being followed but Abbey thinks it’s all in her head….is she right? I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more by this Author. Thank you to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review
Best Friends Forever, wow what a pair these two are. College pals that get together years later, Abbey recently divorced and Raven married and desperate for a baby team up again to go on a road trip. Things don't go well and both have secrets.
I like the fact the book dipped back and forth to the past where we are gradually given more details of there College days.
My only criticism was that i found the story getting a little far fetched towards the end.
Having said that I love Cathryn Grants books and would recommend this as a good read.
I wish to thank the publisher Inkubator and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book and give my honest review.
A must-read! I got so hooked that I had a hard time putting it down. If you are looking for a twist and thriller book, this is the book to read. It will have you wondering what will happen next. You will go from loving the characters to hating them and wondering who the villain is.
The book is told from three different perspectives Abby, raven, and Lily. It starts with a road trip with two best friends, and then things begin to unravel as things from the past start to come up.
Thank you, NetGalley, the author and the publisher of the ARC Book, in exchange for an honest review.
Best Friends Forever by Cathryn Grant is a real page-turner with multiple twist and great ending. The story begins with two friends. Abbey, recently divorced and Raven, happily married but unable to get pregnant. They reconnect many years later and decide to take a road trip reminiscing tragic events that happened while they were roommates in college. Then, suddenly they are being followed. Both friends have secrets that they are not telling. This is my first book from this author. I will definitely read more from this author.
Made possible by NetGalley.
Overall this was a good book with three points of view. A road trip to reconcile and uncover the past with characters that are perfectly human with their own agenda.
