Not sure why I waited so long to read this, but I loved it and am so happy there are four more books left in the series for me to enjoy! I love anything written by Olivia Wildenstein and Rose Petal Graves does not disappoint. She entices you into her world with rich, interesting characters and vivid, lush descriptions. Her writing is simply stunning, and so beautiful and easy. Must read in my opinion!!!
I'm not really sure what I was expecting when I started reading this, but this book went everywhere but where I expected it to.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy it; it was a fascinating read. The characters kept me interested in the backstory's of each of the main characters made me wish I could read a history book on them.
Honestly, this wasn't an amazing read for me. I didn't connect with the characters, though I can't put my finger on why. BUT I do think fans of a YA mystery would love it. Also, the author has a very poetic way of writing that flows in an eloquent way. So if that's something you love, this book will be right up your alley. The audiobook's narrator was fine, not the best or the worst. Very readable for me.
This was a great YA read.
The whole concept was fascinating and I really enjoyed the characters and the fantasy aspect of the story. I need to read the next book!
I’m really excited to hear that this series is getting a revamp.
Loved this book. It had me pulled in from the get go. Never wanted to stop listening to it. Loved the story line and all the twist in it.
I received an audiobook copy of this thanks to the author and Netgalley,
This is generally a young adult fantasy story featuring heavily on Fe main character has to do with the lot throughout the book which at times seemed her Bing split between multiple layers of grief and confusion with the new World opening up to her. I struggled at times with the balance between showing and telling I did find our main character a little naive considering she was at university before having to come home to deal with the death of her mother. Overall it was an enjoyable quick read if you're looking for insta-love with some sexy fae hunters and Fae themselves.
Wildenstein's Rose Petal Graves is a battle between faeries and hunters set within Native American culture. The protagonist uncovers that her mother did not die from a heart attack but rather as an effect of the fight between faeries and hunters. The story details the constant fight and some hunters want to find peace between both kinds.
I was really looking forward to this one, the premise sounded brilliant and I have liked previous works by the author. The story started strong, the characters were likeable, the plot had intriguing elements to make me want to keep listening.
But then around a third of the way in I found myself losing interest, I’d start doing other things whilst listening to the audiobook, forget to put it on to continue listening or generally just zone out.
I have mixed feelings overall, I still love the concept, I still adore some of the characters, but I think maybe there was a few too many plot holes. I am not discounting the series though, and will persevere!
I didn't love it. I didn't hate it. I supposed I liked it more than hated it. I didn't really know what to expect so I was pleasantly surprised. But also a little bored. See how I'm conflicted? I enjoyed the audiobook narrator. I mostly enjoyed the story. I'm not sure I like where it's leading though, as far as love interests... But if I can get the other books for free, I'll continue. And hello, they're all available on KU yay!
I loved the author’s Masterful series, so I couldn’t wait to start another series by her and I didn’t care it was a paranormal romance. The setting was amazing and a little creepy. The writing was again great, but I missed some character development. There also were so many characters and I was really confused sometimes. I did like some secondary characters. I’m still not too sure about who to trust and who not, and I love that.
I am really unsure what to say about this book. To start of, I started it without really knowing what it was about other than fantasy. I really liked the beginning. It was mysterius and we have the typical main character who learns about a new world which i really like. But then it started to get kinda wishy washy. I don´t know how to describe it. The plot wasn´t really good, I had no connection to the characters and I was far off from feeling any of the romance between any of the characters.
That said, I can understand why others might like it but not every book is for everyone and I will not continue with this series. 2,5 Stars
This wasn't my favorite fae book, but I did really appreciate the uniqueness of the plot, I also enjoyed the twists and turns along the way. I was definitely a little annoyed with Catori at times, but she did always mean well so I found myself mostly forgiving the bits that annoyed me, I keep going back and forth on how I feel about Catori's love interests throughout, I am not sure if I fully am invested in any of them. I did find myself really getting sucked in near the end, so I will likely eventually go on to listen to the next one in the series.

Rose Petal Graves by Olivia Wildenstein is the first book in the Lost Clan series. This book is such a hidden gem!
I found this book to be absolutely fascinating! The story is captivating and very original. I loved how the author put a new spin on faeries. I thought the characters were interesting and engaging. I can't wait to read the next book!
The narration by Stephanie Fritz was incredible! I loved listening to her bring this story to life!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
2.5⭐️⭐️
I received this from NetGalley for a review.
The story begins with the MC’s mother’s death which throws Carrie’s life into a whirlwind of revelations and mysteries with fae and hunters.
I liked the setting of the story and thought the author did a mystical job of setting up the quiet town, but for the plot itself, I found myself wholly confused the whole way through. I struggled distinguishing characters and knowing who was on who’s side.
There was also the theme of instant love. Two brooding bad boys from opposing sides fighting over the gorgeous and never-felt-this-way, goes-against-my-nature protagonist.
The writing style was enjoyable though, and I believe the author has great potential with a more structured storyline with more dimensional characters.
I am a touch torn about how to rate this listen -
The storyline was great at times others it lacked consistency and details
The paranormal genre leaves a lot of room for imagination and magic within its pages but you have to provide the foundation for the reader to believe
That did not always happen here
For some, this is going to be a great listen
The story is there, the characters are pretty entertaining. Plenty of action and twists to keep the listener on edge
Just did not work for me
The premise sounded very promising, but ultimately I ended up DNF-ing at about 20%. I liked the main character but everyone else around her was a little bland. It was a tad predictable and the plot not as engaging as I would have liked it to be.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
thank you to netgalley and Olivia Wildenstein for my advanced listener copy of Rose Petal Graves. My opinions are my own and done voluntarily.
This one was very YA, and i enjoyed many YA novels as an adult, but this one was too much for me. However, it was well written and will be great for the young reader in your life.
This book is about Catori, a young medical school student who returns to her home town after her mother dies. She suspects foul play and wants to find out more about what happened to her mother.
I read the entire thing, but many times considered DNF'ing this. I don't normally continue but I wanted to check whether it got better given I knew this was part of a larger series. There are honestly so many things I disliked about this, but to briefly summarise:
Catori made no sense to me. She is 19 and a medical student, who acts like a 16 year old but speaks of her life experience as though she's 25. I don't think her personality came across very likeable, and I found myself more annoyed by her and her actions. A lot of characters make really stupid decisions which don't seem justified, and I felt myself wanting to slap sense into them. Also the love interest (s) made literally ZERO sense to me in terms of chemistry.
The book revolved a LOT around death, grief, loss. I *know* the word grave is in the title, but I didn't feel like the book was so fully going to revolve around the topic. It felt dark and not in a good way. The story around the Native American side of her family felt really forced, and as it was a main plotline I felt didn't help that nothing felt explained about WHY certain plot points happened. Because I listened to this in audiobook format, a lot of the terminology that was thrown around I didn't feel was adequately explained which led to some very confusing bits around the half way mark (ish!).
Finally, and very mean of me to say, but the writing reminded me of a fanfiction from 2015 when Wattpad was all the rage. Word usage bothered me and the way it was constructed really gave me that vibe. I can't explain it any better I'm afraid - I think the fact it was first person narration and we were hearing her thoughts was actually part of why I ended up disliking the MC.
Not my favourite, though I have to say the narrator did a good job (especially with all the terminology) and I feel bad leaving this review because she really did a decent job with portraying the different characters.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this audiobook by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, which I leave voluntarily
This book started super weird and I just could not get into it. Why is the coroner looking at her mom’s dead body in their home? Why did she insist on also looking at her mom’s dead body? Makes no sense.

My review
I listened to this book on audio and had a lot of fun while doing it. Yes. The book has a few jumps in logic that makes little to no sense. It is however a book about fae and fae hunters so I resigned myself to the concept early on.
The plot is a bit more complicated than what is usual but not overly so and I liked that I needed to pay attention to the characters and literally almost know who is who in the zoo because there are quite a few characters that plays a major role. They however are fluffed out enough so that they do stand out and so that you the reader can differentiate between them. There is no love triangle in this book although the trappings are there for all to see. I liked that the seriously over use of a love triangle was not used. I personally am growing tired of it. As for the reference to the vampire diaries. Luckily that is not true either. The book has a fresh feel to it although the only thing that I found different from all the other books were the American Indian beliefs and culture woven into the fae legend. This I found intriguing.
I base my star stats on how much I enjoyed a book and could not put it down or could not wait to read more of it. If there are technical fallacies like in this book and it distracts so much from the story line that it annoys me and I want to stop listening or reading a book the stars go way down.
For structure and flow I give this book a
3-star rating.
For character development and writing of characters I can support and cheer on I give this book a
4-star rating.
As for the audio and narrator. I was very impressed with Stephanie Fritz and the way she made the book pop. She gets a
5-star rating.
For overall impression and here a special mention to that stunning cover I give this book a
4-star rating.

I wasn't the type of girl who believed in fairytales, much less tales about faeries, but that changed the day the fae walked into my life.
Staying away from my lakeside hometown was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient Native American graves in our backyard.
Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.
As we made preparations for her burial, unnervingly odd and beautiful newcomers poured into my small town. A coroner with emerald eyes and black hair, much too young for the job. An arrogant blond socialite, who lived to get under my skin. And a tattooed Native man, who wasn’t supposed to be alive.
By dying, my mother had inadvertently revived an age-old feud between the fae and the tribe that hunted them.
A feud that was about to tear my world apart.
Dive into this paranormal adventure that readers are comparing to Vampire Diaries...but with faeries.

Olivia is the byproduct of a meet-rude in a Parisian discotheque that turned into an epic love story spanning several decades. Naturally, this shaped the way she viewed romance.
After meeting her own Prince Charming—in a Parisian discotheque of all places—she decided to put fingers to keyboard and craft love stories for a living. None of her characters have ever met in a Parisian nightclub... as of yet.
