I'd rate this a 3.5 *
Overall I enjoyed this book and the narration. I like the premise of the book with a burial site on their family morgue business plot and the faeries and hunters combination.
The main character Kat was interesting and I truly did feel for her throughout following the death of her mother. I enjoyed her interactions with some of the male counterparts however I think there were a few too many potential love interests incorporated into the story.
Some characters surprisingly stood out and I loved the nickname Kitty Kat being used in a teasing way.
Kate father was really relatable considering the circumstances so I thought that element was really good.
I feel as though there are elements if the story to be developed including Stella's actions and where the story goes next.
Overall a good fantasy read with room for future continuation.
I will not be giving feedback on this novel. I didn't realize it was a youth book when I requested it. My apologies
This was ok. I suspect I'm not in the target audience but I enjoyed the first half of the book greatly and the remainder passively. If you like Fae YA then this will probably be your bag - it might well have been more mine about 15 or so years ago. The interweaving of different strands of folklore - especially Native American - was interesting though at times the different types of lore didn't really fit and were just jarring. I quite like Catori, the MC, and her best friend was by turns engaging and annoying. The rest of the cast could have done with a little more character work IMO. The plot also did a few weird lurches and you don't really get any conclusions at the end, just a lead in to the next book. If YA Fae is your thing, that's probably an advantage since you'll go right into the next book. I won't be reading on because, as I said, I'm just not in the target audience for this, but Rose Petal Graves does show flashes of character as a story that makes me believe the books get better as you go along in the series.
I thought the cover was gorgeous and I loved the concept of the book. I found many of the characters interesting, but unfortunately, I found the main character annoying. Catori is supposed to be 19 and somehow in medical school, but she acts quite self-centered and immature. I often found it very difficult to sustain disbelief, but I kept reading because I was curious about what was happening between the fae and the hunters.
If you like young adult contemporary fantasy and don’t mind petulant main characters who might be approaching a love triangle, this might be worth trying.
I enjoyed the narration by Stephanie Fritz. Her performance was well paced and easy to understand, and I liked how she conveyed personality and emotions with her character voices.
I purchased this ebook, and I received a free copy of the audiobook through NetGalley. I volunteered to provide an honest review.
I enjoyed the idea of this story, really I did. But I struggled with the reality of it so much.
Ages and timelines were a little jarring, and I didn't really like any of the characters. I felt frustrated with the story. there was so much potential to develop the intricacies of fae and fae hunter relationships and it focused on everyone falling in love with the main character. I would have loved to get more from the interactions between Cat and her father, and her memories with her mum. I felt like it was just beautiful, smart outsider doesnt know how special she is until a tragic life event sparks events and she finds out why she doesn't fit in
Catori goes home to bury her mother and finds a whole new world exists she knew nothing about. Her mother’s death followed the resurrection of an ancestor and the arrival of fae in her home town. The fae and her ancestors who are fae hunters are at odds from old battles and Catori is pulled between the hunter world and the fae. She is attracted to a fae and a hunter and doesn’t know which side she wants to land on. I think this was a good introduction to the series and ended with a lot to be resolved. I enjoyed the audio, but would have liked to have read and listened to see the wording as there was a lot of different terms used.
Thank you to NetGalleu for providing me with an aubiobook copy of Rose Petal Graves by Olivia Wildenstein.
I really liked this book! It’s a ya fantasy with fae which I of course enjoyed, and our main character is figuring out the true cause of her mother’s death. I will definitely be checking out the rest of this weeks! 4/5 stars⭐️
This book was magical.
As I'm new to fantasy, this was just what I needed to dive into this world. The book revolves more around the characters and the world building and we get to know the history and what led to the present. So It might ook slow but seeing that there other books in the series I understand that there's still more to discover and I'm not complaining.
I liked nearly most characters. And by the end of the book, I was rooting for Kajika more than Cruise. But I'm sensing a huge twist so I'm excited to read the rest.

The story holds a lot of promise and the inclusion of Native American folklore is certainly an appealing offer in a novel like this however it takes a strong main character to fit into such a powerful world and unfortunately we did not receive this.
There are many inconsistencies, rash decisions and may plotholes which are left unanswered (they may be touched on in one of the other four books, however the reader is left unfulfilled in Rose Petal Graves.
Narration was enjoyable and the highlight of the experience.
Rating: 4/5
I received this book for my honest review.
Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly.
Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals.
As we made preparations for Mom’s burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people. I begged them to leave, but they stayed, because their enemies—my ancestors—were beginning to awaken.
I enjoyed this book a lot, I thought the plot was unique; having a little Native American mixed with some fantasy is why I picked this book. The setting was a little off for me. I wish that I would have received some more details on the setting so I could picture it while reading. I also wish that this book had more of a plot driven side of it, I felt that it was lacking in that a little. I wish I would have gotten a little more action or background. However, I did love how the author did some research with Native Americans to help tie into the book, I also liked how the small town felt homey, everyone knows everyone.
The characters in the book are relatable. I loved Catori, I felt that she was a fantastic main character. There were times that I felt that she was a little naïve and repetitive. However, I really enjoyed the love triangle that Catori had with the hunter and the Fea. Who will she end up being with, I can’t wait to see book 2 to find that out.
I did get this book from Netgalley as an audiobook, and I would like to talk about how amazing this narrator did. The attention to the tones of each character really did help to bring this book to life. I enjoyed this narrator's voice and found myself listening to it in one workday.
I would recommend this book/audio to anyone who likes to read/listen to books with mythology and fantasy mixed, also anyone who would love to have a quick and easy read.
I want to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review this audiobook for my honest opinion.

The book was well written and the world building was really good! A really exciting young adult story. Now I'm really eager to read / listen to the next book!
Rose Petal Graves is a YA fantasy that combines Native American and fae folklore to create a world in which the two are resentfully dependent on one another for a world-preserving balance.
Catori's mom has died under mysterious circumstances and in her quest to find out the truth, she learns more about her family's magical heritage and navigates her love interests. The fae are unearthing the bodies of powerful ancestors and bringing them back to life in an attempt to tip the power balance in their favor, and Cat must decide whether their intentions are valid or a danger.
Nice audio narration!
Catori never believed in fairy tales of any sort, but when her mother died suddenly after digging up one of the ancient Native American graves in their back yard (which turned out to only be filled with fresh rose petals), she started to have some questions. Strange newcomers start showing up and she gets a mysterious, very old book in the mail, which leads her to even more questions. Turns out, her mother accidentally brought back an old feud between the fae and the native tribe who hunted them--and now Catori is stuck in the middle of it.
I listened to the audiobook and it was an easy, enjoyable enough read. This is the first book in the series so although quite a bit happens in a very short time, it definitely felt more like an introduction to the series. I enjoyed the fae and native elements and am looking forward to reading more.
This book has been compared to Vampire Diaries but I actually had Sookie Stackhouse vibes (but much milder, given this is YA).
If you're a fan of YA Fantasy, fae, possible love triangles, and can commit to a series, you might like this one.
DNF: this is the most jumbled mess I've read in a while. I tried 50% of the audiobook and I just can't. 19 year old but asked to see a an artery blockage on her own mother's body cuz she's in medical school? Uh huh. And medical examiner is fae and she can't stand him and then suddenly they're kissing for no reason whatsoever. I could go on and on but I'm irritated as hell and can't continue. I wanted to like it. Ugh.
This book was not at all what I imagined. I went in completely blind, only seeing the cover and being intrigued.
It was a quick jump right into a story, but I enjoyed it. I know some people had issues with some points about the characters background story but I didn’t really mind. I wasn’t ready for the death that happened right away. It was all very intricate and I loved all the minute details.
I felt like the story had a really good flow as well as all of the additions of magical realism and the inclusion of multiple languages Fae as well as Hunter. I also really enjoyed the introduction of the second Hunter and how he felt connected to the main character Cat.
Overall I’m very intrigued and ready for the next book! Which I already downloaded along with the other 3 😅
I really enjoyed the idea behind the story, I enjoyed the writing, I liked the narrator ( Stephanie Fritz) but the MC's personally made me want to knock some sense into her.
If you suspected someone killed or had something to do with the killing of your loved ones, you would:
A: run to them when you need help
B: befriend them
C: fall in love with them
This girl did all of the above, pretty much at the same time. Over and over again.
This story is good though. It takes place in a remote town in Michigan. There's a family that lives in a grave yard, they have a Native American bloodline that goes back to a band of warriors who protect against the invasion of Fae upon their land.
Now the warriors are coming back from the dead, the Fae are reacting badly. People's lives are being turned upside down and everyone is in danger.
It's an interesting story (even if the MC's actions don't work for me).
I received this audiobook ARC from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a bit of a retelling of fae and the tribe that hunts them. This audiobook pulled me in right from the start with our MC returning home from college for her mother's funeral. Immediately I wanted answers! What happened and why, seemingly suspicious. Sure enough it is suspicious and Cat is compelled to find out the truth behind her mother's death. Her research leads us into a world of fae's and hunters with a deep connection to her ancestors. This was a thrilling mystery with romance tossed in.
I really enjoyed this story and was interested to see it was the first in a series of highly rated books. I look forward to picking up #2 in the series to see how Cat will decide to live out her newly discovered life.
A fantastic mix of culture and myth!
I enjoyed this unique take on the Fae. The way the character’s culture and family history was created/used to build this plot was clever.
The audiobook narrator spoke and performed well, the story well paced and good character differentiation.
I love a book that can combine different parts of my ancestry (Scottish, Native American, English). A modern fantasy that combines Fae and Native American touches. Fighting factions from the past and present learning that their past waring history doesn't exactly carry to modern life.
This book reads like the first season of a long running show. It sets the groundwork for a history and great characters. There are potentials for friendships and relationships that will blossom in books to come. Good news is there are 5 books released in this series, so I get to visit these characters again very soon. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this audiobook.
The narrator did a great job and kept me listening.
An interesting combination of classic fae lore mixed with Native American culture, this audiobook blended the two really well into a fantasy romance with all the drama, death and love triangles! In Rose Petal Grave we follow a grieving Catori as she returns home from university for her mothers funeral, where she discovers the existence of the fae and how her family is involved with them. This is one of my first experiences with an audiobook that I felt truly worked for me. I often find the narrators a tad dull or hard to follow but Stephanie gave the characters each a different voice which helped massively to follow the dialogue. I would definitely recommend this to fans of fantasy who are looking to get into audiobooks but usually struggle with absorbing stories read aloud.
