As a MONSTER fan of books from Jack Finney and pretty much anything to do with time travel, I wanted SO much to like this more than I did. Just too action/adventurism for me.

While I'm a fan of the genre, and time travel is a great hook, I didn't enjoyed this story as much as I would've like to. Here you have the derivative makings of an action triller. The main protagonist father is killed by the antagonist, giving the hero reason enough to join a secret organization and help kill the killer. The chess game begins. But, is it a game of chess? Or more likely, a game of tic tac toe?
The secret organization itself has one mission: get in, observe, get out. Something very unlikely, and mostly implausible.
Now onto the pros. I really enjoyed Martin's writing. He's able to convey a sense of urgency in the most simple of things. While I might not have liked this book as much as I wanted to, I'll be on the lookout for more of his works.

Time travel, murder and revenge. We join army veteran Reuben Greyson after his father’s funeral. His life goes from lethargic and purposeless to an adrenaline-fuelled race through time. As he is joins The Chronos Project and finds the clues he’s been left, will he and his team catch his father’s killer and save the future and the past? An engaging premise, interesting characters but not fully fleshed out. The Chronos Project seems bare bones rather than a long running mission. Not enough details to make it feel like a real organization. For the most part the characters are well written and work well together. Lots of jumping around and many flashbacks make it feel a bit disjointed, but it’s time travel after all. A good debut novel. Recommend
