I will state up front that I am already an Emma Hart fan and have read most of what’s available through my library’s digital catalog. Her Bookworm series is one of my favorites.
Lady Love tells the story of Lady Gabriella, a British aristocrat, and her attempts to gain the affection of Arrowwood Hall’s head gardener, Miles. The grumpy gardener, constantly rebuffs Gabby’s friendly overtures. Throughout this romantic comedy you meet Gabby’s family and friends all of whom are entertaining characters (Aunt Cat is my absolute favorite). It was fun to step into the world of the rich aristocrats.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The banter was fun. Miscommunications were dealt with by having an actual conversation instead of letting assumptions stand. This closed door romance does have some steam to it (pretty much everything up to the door closing). All the gardening talk makes me want to go buy some plants…that I have no room for.

I was really looking forward to this book partially because of its title and cover, but mostly because of the author. I listened to the audiobook, so I know my experience might be different from others who read a physical copy or an ebook.
To call this book a slow burn isn't accurate. There isn't a whole lot of burning happening. It is rather slow and I will say that part of that comes from the narrator's voice. For some reason the narration did not keep me engaged. This book was told from the viewpoints of Gabby and Miles yet it was read by a single female narrator. She did a good job at distinguishing between their voices, but I wonder if the story would have been more interesting had there been two separate narrators? I found myself being distracted and had to keep revisiting parts of the book. The emotions were missing for me and maybe that was the problem. The story was fine and maybe if I had read it a few years ago, it would have spoken to me more.

3.5 STARS. Audio. British narrator. I couldn't speed up too much. The banter and humor was very cute. I love British humor.
This is opposites attract Miles and Gabriela.
I don't know if was my mood, but the chemistry was a little off for me.
This very well written. There were quite a few American expressions. I'm not sure if that was intentional or of Brits & American have a few of the same expressions.
I really love RomComs & was happy to get some enjoyment at a stressful time.
Thank you #Netgalley for the ARC of the audio.

Lady Love is a British romance with moments that will leave you laughing. It's a quick read (or in my case listen) and the enemies to lovers trope. Lady Love is Lady Hastings blog where she gives advice like dear Abby. Gabby is secretly going to school about gardening and never met a plant she didn't like. She could talk plants all day, much to the annoyance of the gardener, Miles Kingsley. Miles thinks that lady hastings is too good for him as he's the estates' gardener and she's the lady of the house.. When a storm leaves them in close quarters together maybe they can find more in common.
I really liked the quick easy read, and Miles and Gabbys story. I also enjoyed how everyone could see that they really liked each other except for themselves.
The only thing I disliked about the book was that I wish the characters had more depth. Their love felt very much surface level and not a deep love.
If you are looking for a fun quick read or listen I recommend Lady Love. There are moments that will leave you laughing. This wasn't a spicy book. But, If you're looking for a classic enemies to lovers romance, this is the book for you.

I loved this story of Lady Gabriella and her grumpy gardener. It was sweet and just a little sexy and I loved hearing little snippets about characters from previous books. Funny writing, great narration. A perfect escape book!

Emma Hart gives readers a glimpse into the British aristocracy with a swoony romantic comedy between the Lady of the estate and the gardener.
I adored this story and especially the character. This story is written in what’s called British English but I’ll be real, there wasn’t much that was amiss for me but maybe some phrases and some key words… so don’t let that put you off… I imagine the audiobook would be amazing! This is a fun and witty sneak peak into Hart’s Aristocrat Diaries that entertain us with a look into the upper class meets working class.

This book is a British artisocracy historical romance set in modern-day England, as if the decline of noble and gentry class after World War I never happened. It takes a minute to fully immerse yourself in because the voice is very much that of any young, "gently bred" lady of a regency novel, but there are cars and phones and social media. It is a clever concept because you can embrace the best aspects of a historical romance and even some of the pitfalls like differences in social class but there is less sexism, more open views on sex and readily available contraceptives. I quite enjoyed it, though I would have enjoyed a bit more chemistry. I didn't mind that it was a very slow burn, but I would have preferred the author built up the tension a bit so that the slow burn had a better pay off in the end. I also found the whole plot point of her being an internet advice columnist was a bit strange because it only came up 2 or 3 times and then was dropped; it felt unnecessary. Fun and cute overall

I love past Emma books, but I had a hard time with this one keeping my attention. It might have been the narrator. That voice was not my favorite.

Definitely a cutesy rom-com. Gabriella an aristocrat has a passion for gardening and the hot gardener Miles. There relationship is rocky at first because Miles seems like he is always annoyed with her and grumpy. Miles likes Gabriella but is keeping her at a distance because they come from two different worlds and there possibly couldn't be a future with her. He thinks he isn't good enough for her and that she should marry a Duke. Gabby is a people pleaser but at some point she finds her voice and speaks up about her desires to learn botany and her desire to be with Miles.
The audio of this was pleasant. I always enjoy listening to ones where they are set in another country and you can get lost in their accent. For me its only 3 stars because it was cute but for being a romantic comedy I didn't really laugh. I liked it well enough though.

This was just the light hearted, fun romance I was looking for. I love the grumpy/sunshine trope so this story was just what I needed. The grumpy gardener and the daughter of the duke who owns the estate created a great forbidden romance story that was equal parts sweet and swoony. In addition to the great romance between Gabby and Miles, I really enjoyed reading about Gabby's friends. I'd summarize this story as a delightful grumpy/sunshine forbidden romance between member of the British aristocracy and a member of the working class. There's also some family drama on her side to spice things up and keeps this fresh. I especially enjoyed the storm that had them forced to spend a few days in each other's company alone. It was a great way to bring these two very different people into forced proximity and leave them no choice but to get along for the duration of their time stuck inside. While it took me a little while to get acclimated to this cast of characters but once I figured out who everybody was, I was invested and here for all the fun tropes and romance. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series sometime soon!
Many thanks to Netgalley and the author for an audiobook copy of this story. All thoughts are my own.

I was provided an audio ARC via Netgalley, all opinions are my own.
I felt the narrator did a great job with Gabriella and Miles. I was surprised that there wasn't a male narrator for Miles, but give that there are only a few chapters from Miles' perspective it makes sense that there is only a single narrator. Shakira Shute did a great job with all of the characters and did a good job distinguishing each of them with a different voice so you knew who was speaking when there was dialogue.
This series follows the aristocrats in a small English town and the people in their lives. This installment follows Lady Gabriella Hastings, who is not what you'd expect. She wants to go to college, get a job, and play in the dirt. She loves plants and wants to design gardens as a career. You wouldn't expect that from someone with a fancy royal title, but she is pretty down to Earth, loves the people of the town and her goal is to get a job doing something she loves. She also has a huge crush on the grumpy head gardener that works on the estate that her father is responsible for. She can't figure out why Miles (the gardener) doesn't like her when she's been nothing but polite to him other than asking him questions about the gardens and the plants she loves so much. It turns out Miles is actually attracted to Gabi, but he doesn't think that his status as a commoner would mix with her aristocratic title. This becomes quite the rift between them when they get stuck together at the estate during a pretty bad storm. As they get to know each other, they realize that there is an attraction between them and that they do actually get along and like each other. They both have to decide if they are willing to put class rules aside and go after what they want for the sake of their own happiness.
This doesn't have a ton of angst, though it is a little slow burn as it takes Miles a bit of time to figure out what he wants to do about having a relationship with Gabi. He has to be told a few times to get over himself when it comes to his views on the aristocracy and what would make Gabi happy. I really loved all of the side characters in this. Emma Hart always finds a way to write in a hilarious parent or grandparent type of character in her books. In this case it is Gabi's Aunt Cat, she provides some drama and comic relief throughout the book with her animals and banter. Mile's grandpa was pretty awesome too, he gave great advice. Gabi's friends and cousin were great side characters and I expect we will get books for them soon. I thought the character development was good between Gabi and Miles. Gabi decides what she wants and goes after it, Miles on the other hand is a little slower to take action but it is worth waiting for. This has some great comedic moments. It is fairly tame in the spice department, if you are looking for something super steamy this is not the book. This is more slow and sweet with some kissing scenes.
This is set in modern day England and the author uses quite a few British terms for things. I had to look up a few I didn't know, but I didn't really mind. Most of the time they were really funny. I actually really liked that it was set in England and that she used some elements of her real life in this book. I know she has her own ducks and gardens and posts about them in her author group and on instagram.
This was really fun and has all of the things I love about an Emma Hart book. Great humor and lovely characters. I can't wait to see more from this series!

Super cute and funny!
I liked the modern nobility being included and the characters are a blast as usual.
The narrator did a great job too.

I received an Audiobook ARC from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review.
This book is told in dual POV and the whole story is narrated by Shakira Shute. I enjoyed the sections of the story that were from Gabriella’s POV but I hated the voice the narrator used for miles. The hero was a 30 year old man and the narrator made him sound like a teenager.
As far as the story goes, this was my first book by this author so I did not know what to expect. It was a very slow burn, the first kiss isn’t until 70%. And then there are 2 separate scenes when you think they are going to have sex, but nothing happens. I’m not sure if all of the books by this author are like this but honestly I never read books that don’t have any steam on purpose so I probably won’t read any more books from this author of that is the case.
Aunt Cat was the best thing about this book.
The one aspect of this story that really made zero sense was the Lady Love blog thing, it was only brought up like twice and she never told anyone about it so I didn’t really understand what the point of it was.

This is the first book for a new three book series by Emma Hart starring the modern day British aristocracy. Which being an avid regency romance reader is a refreshing and interesting theme for me.
Our heroine is the daughter of a Duke with a crush on her fathers head gardener who is hot but rather grumpy. She lives with her father on his estate where his sister - her aunt also lives and apparently is forever getting into hair brained schemes. She has 2 pet goats that are constantly getting out of their designated area.
Emma Harts books are generally on the shorter side. This one clocks in at about 7 hours. I love the heart and humor she infuses in every story. She provides depth of character and laugh out loud moments.
This book is more of a slow burn. There is gradually building romantic tension. Lower steam, though there is some. Closed door. Trigger warnings - parent death (cancer and off page), classism, flooding.
Very enjoyable listen. Can’t wait to check out the next two books. 5/5

Lady Gabriella Hastings is taking a gardening class behind her fathers back, while he rather her find love. Little does he know, she is secretly crushing on the grumpy gardener Miles. Miles secretly likes her too but feels he would not be good enough for her due to her rank of class and him just being a commoner. There are a few other family secrets to be unfolded as well.
I truly enjoyed the audio version of this book because I am a sucker for accents. The narrator did a wonderful job with all of the characters.
The spice level is about a 1 out of 5.
