Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for a perfect psychological thriller.
Totally recommend this book, you should read it.
More by Jessica please.
An exciting and gripping psychological thriller!
I really enjoyed this novel. I thought it was original and so entertaining!
A terrific and suspenseful story that has me looking forward to reading more from this talented author.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review*
A great thriller - I would recommend it!
As I read this story by Jessica Payne, I found myself going back and forth on how I felt about the book. I really felt as though I liked Noelle's character and was certainly cheering her on as she attempted to flee safely away from her abusive boyfriend. I felt that soon after the book was inundated with too much information/complications and it just didn't keep my attention as I felt it was a bit unbelievable.
I liked the characters. The story was a good example of cat and mouse.
The story is told from dual POVs. The plot is a bit far fetched. The ending was predictable
I loved this thriller, it was so gripping and kept me engaged throughout. I loved all of the twists and turns. Highly recommend.
Noelle thought she had met the perfect man in Anaesthetist Dr Daniel Ashcroft, who works at the same hospital she works as a nurse in Seattle. He is rich and handsome and charming.
Everything seems to be going well, but he is a control freak. Noelle soon realises the only way to escape from him, before he becomes dangerous to her and her family, is to stage her own kidnapping.
Seems a bit extreme but the previous two girlfriends that the Doctor had dated had disappeared so what better way than to vanish herself.
I loved every second of this over the top and crazy book and believe it or not it's a debut thriller.
An author to look out for.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
A cracking read, full of twists and tension. I loved how fast paced it is and it compelled me to keep reading. Good characters and plot.

Oh what a ride this book is! I agree with other reviewers that you need to suspend your belief for this one, but who cares? I read books to be entertained! :) It was one of those fast-paced, hard-to-put-down thrillers.
Quick synopsis: If Noelle doesn't take matters in her own hands, she'll be trapped for the rest of her life with this seemingly perfect and very controlling man. Her escape plan? Staging her own kidnapping. But things don't go exactly as planned...
I loved the dual POVs of Noelle and Daniel, It really worked for this book. The author was able to create tension and atmosphere and all I wanted was to know if Noelle will be able to escape and stage her revenge.
If you like a fast-paced thriller with a revenge trope, this book is definitely for you!
Apologies to both Netgalley and Bookouture for not reading and reviewing Make me disappear by Jessica Payne (published May 2022) in a timely fashion. Thank you for the advance copy.
This is an excellent debut thriller! Once I got into the story, I couldn't put it down! The story is told in first person, but with two narrators, Noelle, and Daniel. The plot is a little over the top, but had some fabulous twists. The only issue I had with it was the style of writing...and that is just a personal preference; I don't think most people would have the same issue. As I was pulled into the story, the issue faded away. I look forward to reading more from the author.
There are twists and turns from beginning to end. I enjoyed the ride right up to the climax. I will be looking for new books by Jessica Payne.
Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. The synopsis sounded great, but the execution didn't work for me personally. I definitely think there's an audience for this book, and I really wish I was that audience, but sadly I'm not. I do look downward to keeping an eye on this author's future works, and hopefully I can find a winner!
An intense thriller that will keep you turning the pages! Noelle is trying to get away from Daniel. He's watches her every move. He even has a camera set up. He manipulates her. Noelle decides she is going to have herself kidnapped but before that can happen she gets abducted. Can she trust anyone? Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
Oh, this was such a great thriller. Really kept me at the edge of my seat with all the plot twists and suspense.
Everyone thinks Noelle has it all – a brilliant, dreamy husband who is an anaesthetist, a beautiful baby girl and a gorgeous house to grow their family. Seems like Noelle has the perfect life right? But her life is far from perfect! Noelle discovered a side to her husband she never knew and what she knew scared her. She feared for her life and had to take extreme measures to stay alive!
I love that the chapters are told in Noelle and Daniel’s POV! It really adds a thrill to the already suspenseful plot. The whole story is dramatic and far-fetched because why would Daniel go through all that trouble for Noelle when he could have easily chosen another victim with his charms? This is what led to his downfall! But then again, you always want what you cannot have and I guess, Noelle gave him a good challenge and excitement that he couldn’t find anywhere else. My advice is – don’t ever mess with a mother who has a strong determination to live and protect her baby at all cost!
Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for the arc.
The romance that goes wrong... At the very beginning, it was intriguing. We have a "perfect" couple which is a total lie and she really needs to get rid of this relation. But it is not so simple. Especially that he is a very influential person and her life could be in danger...
So she made up a plan. A stupid one. And everything went down...
I liked till this moment, cause then I coudn't believe how naive a grown up woman can be. Soooo... 3/5. I expected something better.
This was a really great debut and a good example for a great psychological thriller. I look forward to reading more from this author!
I really enjoyed this book! Can't believe it is a debut from an author. I was involved right from the beginning and by the end, I was exhausted - in a good way! Great twists and characters!
Great story kept my interest right from the start. Good pace that kept me guessing the whole time. and well written characters you love to hate. Can’t wait to pick up more from this author!
OMG!!
I took to long to read this book, and I shouldn't have waited. It was incredible. It sucked me in from the get go and kept my attention all the way to the end. I read this in one sitting while ignoring my entire family.
I really enjoyed the 2 different POVs and honestly enjoyed Daniel more the Noelle. I felt like the FMC was a little silly and made stupid choice's, but those choices made her relatable. Daniel was just a cocky, assshole and I loved him for it.
I could have done without the epilogue, I honestly wish I hadn't read it. I made me feel as though the MC didn't learn anything.
9/10 - Fast paced thriller, absolutely would recommend.
I loved Daniel's chapters! I always like to see how the characters think, especially when those characters think so differently.
Pros: revenge, mystery, chess-like "cat & mouse" antics, lies, betrayal, not sure who to trust, fast-paced, chapters were a good length, Jack was a great character, multiple POV's
(Minor) Cons: a bit unrealistic, it seemed at first that Noelle was going overboard, because you aren't exactly sure about ALL the things Daniel did to make her want to leave him so badly, and she didn't try very hard to break up with him, small plot holes as she kind of created her own problems by not telling her supposed BFF/cousin what was going on from the beginning, and I figured out some of the twists before the character did, which always makes me feel like the character is kind of dumb, some of the 'red herrings' felt obvious to me.
All THAT being said, overall it was a good read! I was never bored, there weren't any slow parts or any parts that dragged.
