I would love to give this book a 5-star rating, but there are some words and dialog that made me cringe so bad, so I'm really sorry.
The whole story is just beautiful. It's not just a love story; it's a story about survival, freedom, bravery, and being strong.
What happened to Devon was traumatizing. That girl suffered so much in the hands of her stepbrother. She has to act dead just so she can escape, which is a smart and brilliant idea. I salute Devone for her bravery. I truly adored her.
Riley, the most amazing man to Devon. He did everything for Devon to be safe. He didn't make her suffocate by just letting her stay at his home. He let her do whatever she wanted. He helped her to be strong and brave. He guided her through everything. He took care of her.
Overall, this book is such an amazing read. Just a warning to those who have triggers. Some scenes of the book might be heavy for you. I sometimes have to pause and just erase those scenes in my head because it's just too distracting for me, but still, the book is amazing.
Not as good as the others in the series, that i`ve read.
But enjoyable nontheless. I enjoyed reading about Devon and her life. But her relationship with Riley felt forced and a bit awkward.
A heartfelt love story between two unlikely characters with the chips stacked against them. Very tender and poignant. Highly recommend this book.
Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.
I didn't think these books could get any better... and along comes Riley and Devon. Devon's story is heartbreaking and difficult to read but Riley is amazing!!
Emmanuelle Snow did a phenomenal job touching on triggered topics - Love the gentle way they were approached. This is an instant love between Devon and Riley that will truly touch your heart
ARC provided by NetGalley! THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING! I have lived through Devon's struggle and I relived it with her. Snow did an amazing job being understanding and representing victims of domestic abuse.
What a sweet read from this author. A brief meeting one night during a country music star party leads to unrequited attraction and searching for Riley. Devon is facing battles
of her own and must find the strength to overcome before bringing Riley into her life. But once she’s at a place where Riley can complete her, Riley is eager to step up and give her hope again. An intriguing read where readers will root for Devon and Riley to find hope and heal wounds with the help of eachother.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Abuse is a tough topic to tackle. Emmanuelle once again delivered an emotional and riveting story. This is the second book I have read in the series and it was just as good as the first.
This book is one of strength and trauma. It is s a survivor's story and it shows just how much support can mean to helping someone get out of an abusive relationship to find love again. It requires a lot of love and patience to heal a heart that has been through these kinds of struggles. Thank you Emmanuelle for another great read and for showing the realistic side of such an important topic. I'm hoping this gave someone out there just what the title conveys....hope.

Genre: Romance, women's fiction, new adult.
Bah, women's fiction – nope, no need for this outdated genre heading.
Anyway, ages ago I found Pink and Country, had forgotten about it til this one popped up on Netgally. I'd loved that so was keen to read this. Sadly for me this pone just didn't live up to that, it was a decent read but not one I'd reread. And didn't keep me engrossed, desperate to see where the story would go next.
I loved both characters, just wasn't convinced of either the story or the romance. I did feel for Devon, she'd been through so much but her trust in Riley was Huge, just Huge and after what she'd been through I thought she'd be more cautious. I think too I needed more outside interaction, more other characters involved, the constant focus on Riley and Devon with nothing seeming to happen very much just made the story feel flat. To me. Others differ of course, its that old horses for courses conundrum, where we all want different things. I want depth, drama, lots of action and things happening, but this kind of felt like Romance-Lite, very muted and soft. Its billed as Slow Burn, but I found it hard to feel any burn, slow or otherwise.
Stars: two and a half, premise was great, action not so much. Loved Pink & Country, found this one really slow though.

Though I have not read other books in the Carter Hills series, the premise of Hope and Country sounded intriguing and I am glad I gave it a try. Riley and Devon meet at a country music party and it is insta-attraction. Unfortunately, Devon is found there by her evil stepbrother and they don't see each other for a long time.
This is a short novella with triggers for domestic violence as Devon's stepbrother is beating her. One night she ends up beaten so badly she goes to find Riley because she has no one else. Riley takes her in and heals her, falling in love at the same time. A very sweet love story.
Devon had a difficult childhood watching her mother get beaten by her stepfather. The only good thing it brought was a strong bond between Devon and her stepbrother. Until the day everything changed and he turned into a different person. Now she is afraid of what she might do or say. She can’t have fun, she can’t live her life.
Riley is a country singers’ manager, one of them the famous Carter Hills. One night, at a rooftop party he sees the woman of his dreams, gets to talk a little with her but then she disappears from his life.
Sometime later their paths cross again and it’s the opportunity to be happy. Will they be able to go against the adversities and have a future together?
This book is about violence – physical and psychological –, and the fight to break the cycle and have the chance to change one’s life. It’s about overcoming the dark parts of our life and our mind, believing the bad will pass and we’ll be happy.
Devon has the luck to count on Riley to help her in every way she needs and it's beautiful to read how their story evolves.
I recommend this book. It’s a light reading - although it has dark and sad parts –, it’s about love and the hope for a brighter future and made my heart happier. I enjoyed how loving Riley was and how strong Devon was and how she had the strength to trust new people.
I love all the books in this series, and this one continues that pattern! The characters are always intriguing and the plot interesting. This storyline is a bit more serious than previous books but it's an important topic to shed light on and the author covers it well. The one thing I didn't like in this book was the excessive use of "ya" instead of "you" - it drove me crazy! But that's probably just a personal pet peeve. All in all, a really good read and I'm already looking forward to more from this author!
A love story that will tug your heartstrings and keep you on the edge of your seat Delightful and charming… I absolutely adore this series.
I just finished reading Hope and Country by Emmanuelle Snow. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy. I read the previous book in this series, so I knew Ms. Snow knows how to write a good book. This book is just as good as the first. This is the story of Riley and Devon. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there is abuse in this book, so if that can be a trigger for you, don't read this book. That said, the abuse and Devon overcoming it was handled really well. Really enjoyed. Thanks. 4.5 stars
I think the idea is cute but the relationship just seemed iffy to me and hard to explain. They didnt dive into the abuse of the past relationship as much to really send that message but I think I would read more of the authors work to get a final decision overall.
