Being relatively new to Virginia, I enjoyed learning more about this time in the state's history. The book was well thought out, highlighting information and keeping the reader engaged from beginning to end. I liked the way that the author tied history and present day together.

#netgalleyarc I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me a bit of Stamped but this title was more focused on Black students and their history in the white US school system. I thought the book/author handled the difficult topic very well and was matter of fact with the topic and extremely informative. Overall it was a great read.
