This is the final book in this wonderful series, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone. Cameron comes home for his sister's wedding but runs into his ex that opens all kinds of wounds. When he sees his childhood friend, Lexie, and her 13 year old daughter, he enjoys their company and tries to let his guard down a little. With a struggling music career, Cameron definitely has a tough road ahead of him. Can Lexie get through his tough exterior and help get out of his own way? This book pulled me in from the start! Great characters and great storyline, as well. You will not be disappointed.
What a great novel! I totally forget I had shelved a Christian book and the God part took me by surprise. KUDOS to the author for creating a well-written faith-based novel- there was even chemistry and plot twists! Great job!
"Don't let yesterday take up too much of today."
"My advice is simply to learn. Learn from every moment and hope that as you do, the should'ves get further and further apart."
"You can't fix every problem with a motivational speech"
As soon as I saw this book, I knew that I wanted to read it. Not just because the cover is pretty but because I have read the first book in the series, Love and a Little White Lie.
It was a bit different from the first one since with this book, we will have two POV's. One with Cameron and the other, with Lexie. It is nice that characters from the first one makes a cameo in this book. I loved that January is pregnant (again!) in this one. I hope I remembered well that Cameron made a joke about it that Dillon is working hard. Ha Ha
It was an enjoyable story. It made me want to read more on the redeeming moment of Cameron, on what really happened (again, I still haven't read Love and the Silver Lining). I can relate a bit with the fangirling moments of Lexie (who wouldn't want to date their celebrity crush?!) but I just have to say that I like the character of her daughter more than her. I don't feel the chemistry between Cameron and her, or maybe because I was just hoping that they wouldn't end together. There were lots of physical intimacies (kissing) in this one, I thought it was a bit too soon. There were also a few mention of God.
One thing that stood out is Morgan. I find her character interesting and how she interacts with the other adults especially with Cameron. I kind of expected more of her scheming for her mother, so that Cam falls in love with her. But I still liked with what happened to her story.
I loved how Cameron waited before proposing to Lexie, how he settled things first before starting a new life with her. The short scene where he proses in his concert is really a dream come true! Ha ha!
All in all, I rate this book a 3.9 stars out of 5.
I just binge-read this whole series in less than a week. I could not put them down! I was so excited to read Love and the Dream Come True by Tammy L. Grace. Now it's Cameron Lee's story. He comes home for his sister's wedding with writer's block and feelings of failure after years as a successful musician. And with a lot of lingering anger at his former group of friends especially Darcy, Bryson, and Mason.
Single Mom Lexie Walters has always had a crush on Cameron, and listening to his music over the years has helped her get over some tough times. I love the quotes that she often recalls from her mother. " She once said the greatest gift i could give her is to live out my life with optimism and faith, always looking forward, ever behind me, and loving with all my heart. I turn thirty soon, and I pray I've made her proud by doing just that."
“The only person you can control, Lexie, is you. Don’t spend your life as a grumbling spectator in someone else’s story.”
I just love her spunky daughter Morgan, and her grumpy cousin Mason.
"It's funny how God brings blessings at the most unexpected moments."
A wonderful story of forgiveness, kindness, family, and facing big issues, laced with love and humor. I highly recommend Love and the Dream Come True.
Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
This was a really fun read! I enjoyed the characters, the story and how heartwarming it was! Definitely an enjoyable read and I hope to read more by this author!
LOVE AND THE DREAM COME TRUE is the third novel in the State of Grace series by TAMMY L GRAY but it can easily stand alone, although I suggest you read the first two books as well for sheer pleasure. It is a story of broken people with broken dreams, but there is a strong message of hope and restoration.
Cameron Lee, who has achieved fame in the music world, is now washed out and has no music left in him. He frequently has panic attacks, the most recent of which he has at his sister Cassie’s wedding when he comes face to face with Darcy, the love of his life, and her husband Bryson, who stole her from him. This attack is witnessed by Morgan, Lexie Walters’ thirteen year old daughter. Lexie has had a crush on Cameron since she was a teenager and fantasizes about him falling in love with her. Lexie, who has had a difficult life herself, is the eternal optimist as opposed to Cam’s pessimism. The difference is largely due to her trust in God whereas his faith seems to be a thing of the past…..
Love and the Dream Come True is a most enjoyable and inspirational read with unforgettable characters and a deep Christian message of forgiveness, unconditional love and redemption.
I cannot recommend this lovely book highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
This is a great conclusion to the State of Grace Series. I wasn't a huge fan of Cameron in the other books, but he grew on me in this one. I loved his relationship with Lexie's daughter, Morgan, and I thought she was definitely the bright spot of the story. Sometimes I felt like the romance between Cameron and Lexie was a bit rushed. I also think that Cameron was very unforgiving of his friends but was able to get over it fairly quickly..
All in all, I am glad I read this book, as with the whole series. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Love and the Dream Come True by Tammy L. Gray is the third book in the State of Grace series. If you have been following along in the series this is Cameron’s story! He is now a struggling singer who is not doing well, and has decided to come home for his sister’s wedding. Lexie is the single mom who has had a crush on Cameron for years.
In this character driven story the backstory and chemistry between Cameron and Lexi had my heart from the beginning. As I watched them grow, change, and mature I was avidly rooting for them to have a happily ever after. The author does an amazing job tackling the big issues we all face without being too heavy. She touches your heart deeply while still making room for you to laugh and smile.
I was so invested in Love and the Dream Come True and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a story about genuine forgiveness, redemption, and the power of kindness. I am so glad I read this book and I highly recommend it to you.
“The only person you can control, Lexie, is you. Don’t spend your life as a grumbling spectator in someone else’s story.”
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.
Love and the Dream Come True is the third, and sadly, final story in the State of Grace series by Tammy Gray. While this could be read as a standalone, if you read books one and two, Love and a Little White Lie and Love and the Silver Lining first, you will really get to know Cameron and see him grow and mature.
I have been looking forward to his story since I finished book one, where he has a prominent role. Also, Cameron was Lexie’s teenage crush, which was a fun addition to this story! Lexie was perfect for Cameron with her positive outlook on life- which Cameron desperately needed. I also loved her daughter Morgan and her relationship with both Lexie and Cameron. I was completely happy how relationships that had been struggling were mended.
After reading Cameron and Lexie’s story, I really wanted Mason’s story! I was sad to see that this series is over though. I will definitely be looking up Ms. Gray’s backlist!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 4 stars.
I love this series and I am sad to see it ending. I love Tammy’s writing and I am still *hoping* that she changes her mind and does that prequel involving Dylan.
Thank you for the ARC from NetGalley! This book definitely surprised me as I wasn’t a huge fan of Cam from the previous books. Initially, I thought he was weak and selfish. This book definitely changed my mind about him and I really loved seeing him grow as a person and enjoyed seeing his relationship development in this story. It’s also nice to see the characters from the previous books make appearances in this one. I only give it 4/5 stars because it isn’t as Christ-focused as some of Tammy’s other books.
P.S. Please consider making a prequel w/ Dylan’s backstory
I absolutely loved this book! I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend reading it! You won’t be disappointed.
Love and The Dream Come True brings to a conclusion the A State of Grace series. It comes full circle on so many of the characters we have seen grow, heal and fall in love. It’s perfect that this last book features musician Cameron, who has been part of so many of the previous books.
Lexie is busy balancing being a mother, helping her cousin renovate a house and work. The reappearance of Cameron Lee, musician, brother of her best friend and childhood (and adult) crush) is unexpected but not unwelcome. In fact, kindling a romance with Cameron is a dream come true and a nice distraction from her daughter’s growing distance. For Cameron, returning to his home town for his sister’s wedding only causes him more anxiety. There are too many mistakes and hurts from the past he’s been running from. With the deadline of choosing music for his new album hanging over his head, the only bright spot if Lexie and her delightful daughter. As Cameron finds himself growing closer to them both, his dreams for the future start to change.
Music, family, love. Love and the Dream Come True is a beautiful conclusion to this series and a beautiful story of romantic love and the love between mother and child. Lexie struggles with her relationship with her daughter, balancing protecting her with giving her space for her growing independence. Cameron’s story is one of coming to terms with his past. Both together and individually, Cameron and Lexie make peace with what haunts them and find a way to move forward.
The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.
Cameron finally got his story but he had to work for his HEA.
Coming home for his sister's wedding unearths things he's not ready to face, especially with what's going on with his music and the songs he needs to choose for the new album.
Then he meets Lexie, his sister's childhood friend, and her daughter, and when they turn out to be neighbors in the same street, they quickly become involved in each other's lives.
It's a story of redemption, as we knew it had to be, since Cam has to grow and come to peace with himself and those he feels wronged him.
I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous books and how they played in this story.
Definitely read the other books before you read this one. Great series!
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Enjoyed this lovely book. I really liked Cam in the story. This book kept me reading and I really enjoyed it!
Country music star Cameron Lee returns to his hometown of Midlothian Texas for his sister's wedding. Filled with disappointment and self-pity for his failure to succeed. He meets Morgan, the daughter of energetic, positive thinking Lexi at the wedding. The attraction between Cam and Lexie is electric. But knowing he will be leaving after the first of the year, Cam tries to resist the draw he feels for Lexie.
Lexie has had a crush on Cameron ever since she was 13. She was Cassie's (Cam's sister) best friend and always dreamed of Cameron. When Cameron returns to Midlothian he is shocked at how beautiful Lexis has become over the last 10 years.
This is a romance with a lot of complex twists and turns. Lexie's total acceptance of Cam, drives him out of his self absorption and tries to find his music again,
Tammy L. Gray is an excellent writer. She brings life to her characters in a way that you are drawn in and want to know what is going to happen next. There is a lot of heart in her writing. This is a good clean read.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Cam’s redemption.
This is Cameron’s story. If you haven’t readthe first twobooks of this series, you must do so in order to understand Cam. I hated him in he first two books but now I understand him.
Great read.
Awesome story line that had me captive from start. Really felt the real emotion of all characters and a multiple mixed family setup. Gripping. Real life.
Love and the Dream Come True is a fabulous grand finale to the State of Grace series! 5 stars!
Gray brings this Prodigal story of Black Carousel band member Cameron Lee's return to his hometown of Midlothian, Texas to the forefront in Love and the Dream Come True. Unlike the biblical story however, Cameron has a lot of healing yet to do as the only reason he's come home is for his sister's wedding. There he meets a smart and sarcastic teen, Morgan and her mom, Lexie Walters. Lexie's had a crush on Cam for years and feels like her dream may have finally come true, that's how it starts out anyway. I love how this story explores the subject of hopes and dreams and how God's dreams for us can be so much better than what we ever dream for ourselves.
As the story unfolds, I felt like I experienced every emotion known to man, happiness and sadness, heartbreak and joy, unworthiness to worthy, betrayal to trust and back again, to name a few. Just when I thought I knew who was right and who was wrong, Gray flips the story on its head and gives me a new perspective. That takes some amazing writing, and Gray shows her exceptional talent and skill and pulls it off brilliantly.
I loved seeing all the other characters from the first two books, Darcy and Bryson who play a part in Cameron's healing, along with the wisdom of ex best friend Mason.
I've lost count of the number of times I've smiled and shaken my head as a reviewer says something to the effect of, "This story crushed me, turned me inside out and upside down, but I loved it, and I'm sure you'll will too!"
Yet here I am understanding those feelings and saying the very same thing myself, "This story crushed me, turned me inside out and upside down, but I loved it and I'm sure you'll love it too!"
Gray has brought Love and the Dream Come True and the State of Grace series to an epic conclusion! It's now one of my favorite series ever and I applaud Tammy L. Gray for her outstanding writing and insight into human nature.
I am a reader who highly values the art Tammy L. Gray creates and am looking forward to her future work. I appreciate Bethany House Publishers making a copy of Love and The Dream Come True available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
If you like your romance with a side of faith and redemption, then you’ll love Love and the Dream Come True! I LOVED this series and couldn’t put it down! Each book is enjoyable as a standalone. I started with Book #2 and then went back and read Book #1, #2 again, and then #3. It was great to see Cameron’s story arc through the entire series and see most of the characters through the series appear in this last book. I enjoyed Lexie’s character and her daughter Morgan.
One quote I liked was “Integrity matters to me; I just didn’t know how much until I saw how little you had.”
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions in this review are my own.
Cam is a country music star who is trying to fulfill his contracft in Nashville and do his last album. He is not feeling it when he goes home to his hometown to attend his younger sister's wedding. Lexi is a young woman who was a best Cam's younger sister when they were growing up. She is raising her sister's daughter and living in the hometown. The two run into each other at the wedding and there is an instant attraction on Cam's part and Lexi is excited because she has had a crush on Cam since she was a preteen. Both of them need to work through issues in their pasts that are holding them back. This was a poignant story of lost love, personal loss and restoration. This was wll worth the read!
