Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group for the advance copy of Via Carota by Jody Williams and Rita Sodi. This book has recipes from an iconic restaurant in Greenwich village called Via Carota. I haven’t been to the restaurant before, but I enjoyed reading about and looking at the different recipes. The recipes are amazing and it had great photography of the food. It is different from the other Italian cookbooks I have so I enjoyed reading recipes that included some different ingredients that I would not originally pick out. If you love to cook, this is definitely worth checking out.
Via Carota is well known in NYC and this cookbook shows exactly why.
It's full of intriguing recipes that are far from your run of the mill italian specialities. The photos are enticing and make your mouth water.
I even ventured to make two of the recipes (so far) and I had to make zero adjustments to my final results. I was extremely impressed.
Definitely a very aesthetically pleasing book! Not too many recipes that made me think 'I have to try that!' though. I do always appreciate when the recipes were divided by main ingredient.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. An interesting cookbook, but not too many recipes that I think I would make.
This culinary journey through the seasons features many types of food throughout each season. While the cookbook is categorized as Italian, you won't find what Americans think of as Italian staples in this book. Fettucine alfredo and penne alla vodka are not within this tome.
Many of the recipes are focused on vegetables and what is in season. Every type of food is featured, from drinks to desserts and vegetables to meat mains.
Recommended for fans of the Greenwich Village restaurant and Italian-loving foodies looking to expand their repertoire.
This fantastic cookbook is full of delicious Italian recipes! Readers will definitely want to visit Via Carota after reading this book.
Simple, seasonal and delicious. Easy recipes with fantastic flavors. I’m so excited to try so many this summer!
What sweet torture to read through this cookbook, particularly while hungry! Wonderful recipes from a terrific restaurant. I don’t usually look through a whole cookbook when reviewing it for NetGalley, but I looked at every page of this one, noting many recipes to try and hoping to eat there again someday. Though it isn’t strictly a vegetarian cookbook, the authors highlight fruit and veggies and call their offerings veggie-forward. As a vegetarian, I found plenty of intriguing recipes here. I particularly liked how the recipes were arranged, by season and by major ingredients.
