you know i loved a book when i immediately make it my staff pick once i finish it. tbh i think i could read @rachel’s shopping list and still enjoy it.
’see you yesterday’ is a special kind of ya story, in that it falls somewhere between the ya and adult genres, seeing as the characters are at the start of their university experiences. we meet barrett on her first day of classes at washington university, a day that for most would be pretty memorable: she wakes up finding out her high school nemesis is her new roommate, she sits beside a guy in physics class who bugs her, she bungles her interview at the campus paper, and accidentally sets a frat on fire. mortified, she falls asleep in her dorm’s common room, ready to move on from the horrible day.
only the next morning, it’s the same day, repeating over again. and even better, barrett soon realises that miles (annoying physics guy) is also stuck in the same time loop. the pair quickly join forces to get out of this situation as quickly as they can, but once they exhaust all their practical resources, they realize that maybe the universe has put them in this time loop together for a reason?
this is a slow burn to end all other slow burns, and i LOVED it. barrett’s character was quirky in a very believable way, and miles reminded me of a number of people i went to uni with. their chemistry, and the way their relationship developed over the course of the book was lovely, and felt authentic. the representation of barrett’s queer parents, and the shared jewish identity between barrett and miles was a nice layer to the story that many will appreciate. overall just such a fun premise with characters i loved spending over 400 pages with.
Barrett’s first day of college was a disaster - her new roommate is her high school rival, the jerk in physics put her on the spot about not coming the reading, and she managed to set fire to a frat house. Not her best start. Maybe tomorrow will be better, but Barett wakes up on September 21 - again. When she finds out that the physics jerk, Miles, has been stuck in this time loop for months, they start working together to get to the 22nd.
I adore this book. I would read anything that Rachel writes, but this has taken its place as my favourite of her YA titles!
There was never a dull moment in this story, even though we visit the same day for over a month. The antics, banter, and the depth of these characters are a delight, and her writing give everything a l
Barrett and Miles’ respective trauma is addressed with care, and adds to the overall theme of the book. Unresolved trauma can make you feel stuck, and like you’re living the same day over and over (THE SYMBOLISM).
If you like time loops, falling in love, and laughing, you’re going to love this book. I will be a Rachel Lynn Solomon book pusher until the end of my days!
This book is everything I ever want in a rom com. Literally everything. The time loop was so interesting, the fact that they tried to be scientific about it was really cool, the two MCs, each of their growth throughout the book. It was all perfect!
Also I need to talk about the Jewish and Asian rep! There was a line where Miles is like “I am Jewish and Asian” and honestly, it was powerful. When one happens to have two dominant identities, many people try to ignore the intersectionality and focus on one over the other. I loved that Miles was like “nope, I am both!”
Since I loved Today Tonight Tomorrow, I need to read this book. I liked the plot of this book because of them being stuck on the same day which I purely enjoyed reading especially Barrett and Miles !!! AHHH MY LOVES. Their moments together made me giggle and smile ear to ear every time. OH, ESPECIALLY THE RAIN KISS !! OMFFGGGG. The cutest strangers to friends to lovers <3.
Thank you Netgalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for this ARC!

Omg! I loved this book! This is the first book I’ve read by Rachel Lynn Soloman, and Wow! She is definitely an author I will be reading more of! This was so well written, I felt all the feels. I was laughing, but I also wanted to cry! This is just such a wonderful story, about growing up and just what it feels like to find the right person. Gosh, I think I loved this so much, because I related to the main character so much!
Barrett and Miles are freshman in college, and there are moments where Barrett talks about how isolating college can feel. My own experience with uni was like that, and I just saw myself in her so much, this hit close to home, except I didn’t have a Miles. People always talk about how college is supposed to be life-changing, and it’s always shown as this magical place where things are better, and honestly it’s rough at first.I loved seeing Barrett go through that experience because she grew up!
She realized that she has to change, and her character development was a joy to experience! So well written, and honestly that’s my favourite part about this book. Miles and Barrett both had incredible character growth, and they grew together! I loved the banter, and I loved watching them go from “enemies”, even though, really I think they were just annoyed lol. I don’t think they were actual enemies at all. But to watch them go from that to more was just so much fun. It was just so real. They had so much banter and I loved it, also Miles is a sweetie, and I (similar to Barrett) would also like to wrap him up in a blanket and protect him from the world! I mean c’mon, he’s a cute Physics nerd who loves Pride and Prejudice, AND OTHER PERIOD PIECE MOVIES? Could he get any more adorable?
I really liked this book, I also love how the issue of bullying was dealt with, the author really showed how traumatizing it can be and the lasting effects it can have on mental health, I thought it was super important. Same goes with Addiction, I love how the author handled it, it was done in a respectful way, but also showed how it can affect our loved ones if we know someone who is struggling.
Ouu wait, I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention the most ICONIC MOMENT. Ummm THE RAIN KISS!! Ahhh I was a mess, there were definitely some tears happening, it was just so cute!
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for something fun and fairly lighthearted. Happy reading! I hope none of you get stuck in a time loop, although, after reading this book, maybe that wouldn’t be the worst thing. 🥹

My thoughts…
Awwww…read this for the rain kiss! I’m hesitant about time loops, time travel, or Groundhog Day-esque stories, but this was well done. I really enjoyed Solomon’s “Today Tonight Tomorrow” and I enjoyed this even more. It was entertaining how our two MCs tried to figure out their circumstances, and the things that happened in the meantime. LOL moments. The way Barrett and Miles’ characters developed were both enlightening and sad. And that ending…Solomon, for a YA romcom, put me on the edge of my seat. Pick this up, without any preconceived ideas and just enjoy it.

'See You Yesterday' is a young adult novel, that follows Barrett Bloom, a college freshman who wants a new start from her high school life. When her first day in college goes wrong in the worse way possible, she wakes up the next day stuck in a time loop and she has to repeat the first day over and over again each day. But she finds out her physics classmate, Miles may be in the same situation as she is in. They work together to find a way out of this time loop.
Rachel Lynn Solomon writes the best young adult contemporaries. I'm not the biggest fan of the Groundhogs Day trope, but I believe this book does it so well. This book is so fun and quick, it doesn't feel like other books with this trope. It is new and refreshing.
Like Rachel Lynn Solomon's other books, the two love interests are amazing. I love Miles and Barrett so much, their chemistry is top notch.
We also have a plus-sized lead, Jewish main characters, an Asian love interest, and sapphic side characters.
This is such a fun book to read and it is perfect for the summer!
Warnings: slut-shaming, panic attacks, fatphobia, bullying, mentions of drug addiction
Imagine having to repeat your first day of college over and over again.
See You Yesterday follows Barrett Bloom, who has the worst first day of college. She is humiliated in her physics class, messes up during her interview for a position at the college paper, and accidentally sets a frat on fire during a party.
When she wakes up the next morning, she realizes that she’s reliving her first day all over again and is trapped in a time loop. But she’s not the only one. A guy from her physics class has been trapped in a time loop for months.
In their attempts to escape this time loop, they go on wild adventures and begin falling for each other.
I loved Today Tonight Tomorrow, so I was really excited to read this book and it did not disappoint! The whole concept of time travel and time loops was so intriguing. I also loved Barrett and Miles’ growth and character development throughout the book. Overall, this was so cute and I enjoyed it so much!
Thank you Simon & Schuster Canada for an advanced reader's copy of this book!
This book was so much fun to read. Imagine the movie Groundhog Day but make it a YA Contemporary Romance, that’s what this See You Yesterday is. Also starting off the first day of school, and the first day of the time loop, with Barrett (mc) accidentally setting a frat on fire…. I couldn’t think of anything better. It was so unexpected yet absolutely hilarious at the same time.
I loved reading all the different ways that Barrett and Miles tried to solve the time loop. A few days definitely brought back some emotional scars and I liked getting to see the two face their pasts and fear they have of the future. Slowing seeing them open up both just in general and to each other was quite special and I loved getting to figure out more about them as characters.
Getting to see Barrett and Miles grow as characters also led to seeing the change in their relationship which was special. You could tell there was a definite fear since they truly had no idea what September 22 would bring, once they ever figured out how to get there. I loved watching them go on adventures day after same day and grow from classmates, to friends, to something more. I thought the pacing of their romance was really great and always had me interested in what would happen the next September 21 day.
Now that ending, nearly gave me a heart attack. I love Rachel’s books and I know the romances always end happily, but she definitely had me scared there for a second. I haven’t felt that much suspense when reading an ending in quite a while. I won’t mention any spoilers, but I did end up loving the ending so if you plan of reading the book don’t worry! I guess the best way to put it is to just trust the process.
Thank You Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for the ARC.
requested this e arc off netgalley bc the cover and titile caught my eye and the premise of the book sounded interesting and fun to read. i like books about time travel/ time loops (i have only read maybe 1 or 2 before this one) we follow 18 year old berrett bloom on her first college day which turns really bad even tho she wants this college experience to be better than high school bc her high school experience was messy and she didnt have any friends and was bulied last months of senior year bc of a article she wrote for the schools newspaper and she wants to be a new berrett bloom in college and make friends. barrett is sarcastic and smart and funny and relatable too she and her mom and very close togheter. i like the few scenes we had with her and her mom and how much they hung out and did things together. i was also fun and interesting learning more about barretts past in high school and what happened to her there and why she didnt have friends. she gets stuck in the time loop with miles whos been stuck in the time loop longer than she has, at first they dont really like each other and they are always bantering and bein teasing each other but then they try to work together to find a way out of the time loop, they try miles ways with the sittin in the library and read physics books and they try barretts way of doing good deeds and havin fun and tryin things they ve never done before (they do some really fun things) the more they spend in the loop together the more they become friends and they start opening up about their problems (barretts high school experience and miles with his brother and not havin fun). i enjoyed their moments together and how sweet miles was and their romance. and without giving too much away i also liked the ending and a bunch of cute scenes in this book. (there was also a moment where i was like dammm :o ) overall i would recommend this book for people who are lookin for a cute quick read (the book is a bit long but it was very easy and fast to read and it kept me wanting to keep reading more and more and not stop each night and day) and enemies to lovers and time loop reads
WOW. All I can say is WOW. To put it simply this book was amazing. I was afraid that the time loop would get boring and repetitive but it was not at all in my opinion! Not to mention I was entirely too wrapped up in the relationship between Miles and Barrett to care.
One of the main things I loved about the book was how the two of them grow individually, outside of their relationship throughout the story. You get to see Miles come out of his shell, and Barrett learn how to shed her armour. Watching them slowly open up to each other was immaculate and I think this romance was extremely well done. Also, the way that the loop was solved was hinted at throughout the book and overall executed nicely.
Regarding the characters, our MC Barrett was hilarious and I loved reading the things she said to herself. Barrett’s love interest Miles was IMMACULATE as well! He was kind, smart, funny, and absolutely adored Barrett. A dynamic duo, truly.
Honestly, I strongly believe everyone should read this book at least once! It’s a fun, fast paced romance novel that will have something for everyone. 10/10 recommend!!
Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!
This was a very unique and fun read. It was jam packed full of STEM, time loops, late 90’s-early 00’s culture references and romances. Both main characters are likeable, relatable and just the tiniest bit awkward that you won’t able to help rooting for them.
This was a super fun and refreshing contemporary romance set in college. The Groundhog Day effect (reliving the same day over and over) can seem like an overdone trope, but this one was done so well! I couldn't put this book down and read it in on sitting. I loved the growth of their relationship and the ending almost made me cry!
I love Rachel Lynn Solomon books! They are always so cute and light and fluffy BUT they also break your heart just a little. Barrett Bloom is just a bit too much like me to be honest, I've never seen myself so viscerally in a character that there were full paragraphs I could predict what she was going to think or say. Saying that though, I think reading this might make me a little kinder to myself because I loved her so so much. I also have to mention how much I loved Miles too and how even without any dual POV you can see the pining on the pages. Anyway, I love RLS and I can't wait to read all her future books!!
How frustrating and frightening would it be to relive the same terrible day over and over again? Rachel Lynn Solomon takes this scenario and runs with it in a fun, adventurous, romantic read.
Barrett Bloom just wants to reinvent herself after her lonely, disastrous high school years. She is hopeful that her freshman year of university will be the fresh start that she needs. Unfortunately, her first day of university isn’t the smoothest, brilliant start that she had anticipated. What could go wrong does go wrong for Barrett, and what makes matters worse is that she wakes up and has to relive that day all over again.
I liked Barrett. She didn’t have much of a filter. She used humor to mask her emotions. She was outspoken. She was an entertaining character. But underneath it all, Barrett was lonely and just wanted to be liked and accepted. It was easy to feel for her situation, and I found myself on Team Barrett very quickly.
Miles didn’t make the greatest first impression on Barrett. He came off as unfriendly and arrogant in their Physics 101 class, even having the nerve to call her out in front of the whole class. Everyone just wants to slide into anonymity in a huge seminar on their first day. How dare he bring attention to her!
When Barrett realizes that she is stuck in a time loop, she soon discovers that Miles has been stuck in it for far longer (which could account for his poor attitude at the beginning). Soon they are teaming up in order to find a solution to their problem and a way to break free of the time loop and make it to tomorrow.
Nothing can bring two people together like a mutually bad situation. They were spending a great deal of time together, trying to figure out how this had happened and how they could rectify the situation. This meant that they were getting to know each other better, breaking down their barriers, being more vulnerable, and having a good heaping of fun at the same time. While mayhem ensued and adventures were had, their feelings toward one another grew as well.
See You Yesterday was a fun, imaginative novel that kept me happily flipping the pages. Rachel Lynn Solomon created a wonderful story with a great cast of characters complete with a surprising little twist.

The beginning of the book started out high. The meet cute of the two main characters was funny and cute.

When I saw that one of my favourite authors was coming out with another book I was so excited! Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books make me so happy and are some of my favorite romance reads.
This one is no different! This is probably my new favourite of her YA romances (my all time favourite still belongs to The Ex Talk)
This book follows Barrett Bloom she’s a quirky outgoing girl (also plus size and Jewish ,we love the rep), and Miles (Japanese and Jewish) is the nerdy uptight physics guy. They end up stuck in a time loop on their first day of college and must relive that day over and over. They work together and try to figure out how to get out of this time loop, to make it to the next day.
This book was awesome! Sometimes time loops can be overdone but this one felt so different. It was cute, romantic, hilarious and really heartfelt. So many parts made me smile so much, I genuinely giggled a few times.
This book has a grumpy sunshine trope and I love it, it works really well with these characters.
It’s a fun concept and makes for such a unique romance read. The setting of college is perfect for YA/NA readers. It made me think of my first day of college, and gave me some great feelings of nostalgia.
This book was such a treat! I highly recommend picking this one up!
Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. You've DONE IT AGAIN.
Barrett has had the worst first day of college. It truly could not be worse unless she had to relive it... but she does. Many times. Over and over and over. She doesn't how this happened or what she did to deserve it, but she isn't too thrilled that the only person who is in this with her is the one that helped in ruining her first day.
Miles has been Groundhog Daying for much longer than Barrett and is shocked that someone else is in this mess with him. The two of them have different ideas on how they could be spending this day on a loop - Barrett wants to figure out what's going on but also wants to have some fun and live a little while Miles wants to stuff his head in his books and get to the bottom of this. So, they meet in the middle. As Wednesday, September 21st lives on, on a loop, the two find themselves doing some of the most exciting things they've ever done but when they start to think about what could come next, the glow of their freedom starts to dull.
What will happen to them if they can't find their way out of this loop? Will they even remember each other if Thursday finally comes?
:)
:))))))
I'm not going to sit here and lie to you, See You Yesterday... I thought this was a sequel to Today Tonight Tomorrow. I have begun to trust Rachel, so much so that I haven't really read the summary for her last two ARCs that I requested because I was just having a great time and felt like I know she'd nail it. And she DID. But, I was very confused when Barrett and Miles were not Rowan and Neil.
See You Yesterday was wonderful and exciting and although I didn't have any scenes that made me feel physical pain, it just made me so happy from beginning to end. I really enjoyed these two and how real they felt, despite this being a book about slight time travel. Miles is all science and logic until we get to know him and see that there is more to him than we could've thought from our first impression. Barrett was a little more extroverted than Miles and it showed in how she approached their situation. I liked how quick she was to confront what upset her. High school was traumatic and while she spent a lot of time repressing all the emotions and memories from that time, she did seem to learn to say what was on her mind when she needs to.
I would've loved to see a POV shift to Miles every so often. I just wanted to see into his head since he was so shy and held so much back until emotions are heightened and things heated up. That is probably the one thing I'd change from everything.
See You Yesterday was a great YA contemporary but I'd definitely make sure we are a mature YA before picking this one up. Rachel offers great representation in each of her books and this is one to add to the list.
This one unfortunately is a DNF for me. I tried my absolute hardest to push through this one as I love the concept of a Groundhog Day story but I just did not care one bit for the characters. Barrett was a little to crass for my liking and normally I don’t have a problem with this because the character usually has some redeeming qualities but I just couldn’t stand her. Her room mate wasn’t much better and I also found it super hard to believe that her entire high school hated her for writing a story. I mean I get the context of it but when I was in high school not everyone cared about sports enough to hate someone for doing what she did. Who know maybe the book gets better but I can’t force myself to want to pick it up anymore.
this book just hit the spot for me right now! make sure to check it out when it comes out on may 17! (nothing in this post is a spoiler, you can see it all in the synopsis)/ thank you Simon Teen for an ARC of this book.
it's always hit or miss with this author for me. but I surprisingly LOVED this book. I had no idea going into it that it would be a groundhog day type of book and i thought for sure i would HATE it because no one does a good job with groundhog day books/films anymore.
but this one was ACTUALLY good. I think what made it so marvellous is that the main character, barrett, is stuck in a time loop WITH another character, miles, in which they ~fall in love~ so it wasnt boring. we got to see these two characters trapped together and slowly becoming friends and lovers and the ups and downs they go through while they try desperately to get out of the time loop, but also savour the time they have together before they have to go back to the "real world." I loved it!
